...it would be people that are distributing merit in a unique and useful way...
I am at the same page like bill however IMO it should be same for both merit source and a non merit source.

I am not saying my one is unique or very useful but when I merit a post (although comparing with you guys I have very little LOL) I make sure I do not focus on the rank. I keep my eyes away (it's hard but I try my best) from the left part of my screen.
It gets really easy when you see the rank and then merit a post (lately I am practicing this a little though   Tongue ) coz by default there are not many high ranked members (especially Hero/Legendary) who bother to post shits.

By the way pugman, I not questioning your merit giving strategy here, I am just opening up my merit giving practice.

I just took a peek through your recent merit history, and it seems like a majority of your (recent) merit has been sent to legendaries, reputable hero members and the more "famous" lower ranking members. While this isn't a bad thing, it might be something that will count against you when being considered as a merit-source. This is just my own thoughts, but if I was looking for new merit-sources, it would be people that are distributing merit in a unique and useful way, rather than piling onto the same legendaries and the lower members that are already on path to ranking up. You know, a "find a couple diamonds in the rough" mentality might go a long way in the regard.

I requested your full merit history in Loyce's thread, so maybe we'll have something redeeming going back a little further.  Kiss
I realized that, but finding good posts ain't an easy task on bitcointalk. That is for sure. I am still looking for a lot of posts, reading them and their post histories and never does it end well. I also don't keep tab on which rank member I merit, but I have recently started focusing on that. I have been telling this a lot,but the existence of good normal posters with actual posts is like a 1%. Every where you see bots, you see plagiarism and for god sake, those facebook/ twitter reports. Those are annoying as hell. Thanks for your input bill, it is really helpful and I am still looking for posters to merit. I promise that I would try my best to find good posters who aren't legendaries Tongue.

Now that Loyce has been accepted (I think?) as a merit source it would seem that the competition has loosened up a little bit. I'm not sure how badly merit sources are needed presently, in the boards that you frequent, but you probably have a better chance now that Loyce isn't dwarfing the rest of the applicants. Good luck pugman, I think you'd do a fine job as a merit source; I still feel weird about the idea of applying personally, but you got my support regardless.
Thanks Bill. And yes, Loyce V is indeed a merit source now. The merit sources are to be increased in an overall perspective, but theymos knows the best and will make the right decision. Thanks for your support, it is very smuch appreciated.

If you get elected can you please frequent the trading forums when looking for merit content?  I seem to get more merit making fun of people on merit threads for being so cringe-worthy over anything I write about that I view as actually useful.
The trading forums as in Trading Discussion? Keep in mind that Reputation and Scam Accusations are child boards of trading discussion, and I visit those boards. I don't merit posts there always, or at all because I spend my time reading stuff there. But I might visit the Trading Discussion and merit a few (deserving) users. Most of the time I run into plagiarized posts or shitposts. So I don't spend any time at all right there. Your English isn't bad, I might take a look at your discussions.
I don't believe that trading, bounty, announcements and related boards should be part of the merit system. I hoped that merits would lead to an increase in good information ands help threads and posts. It would be great if Bitcoin Talk could return to the original concept of a foru, This was a place to meet and discuss important issues and ideas. Tading and money exchanges were confined to the arches and corridors surrounding the forum.
Bounty and announcements? Hell no. Trading discussions might be having good points if they aren't buried. But I think you're talking about Currency Exchange and related boards? Yeah merit, there is not expected or shouldn't be usually given, or given at all.
A friendly bump to support a deserving member.
Thanks, bud.
A bump!

The "but" factor here is that A lot,A lot of people(not only shitposters) are not happy with the merit system, and why shouldn't they be? They tried so hard(at least some of them did) and devoted so much of their time on this forum, and a lot of users became despondent when the merit system dropped their hopes when they were about to rank up that very week.  And also the thing is,95% of the users are only getting merits from Meta Board/posting in merit related topics(I shamelessly include myself in the list too.),I mean look at this: Top merited topics.

If you get elected can you please frequent the trading forums when looking for merit content?  I seem to get more merit making fun of people on merit threads for being so cringe-worthy over anything I write about that I view as actually useful.

I say many thanks to you because this info is very important for beginners like me to be able to get a merit by knowing the points of important points can make it easier to find knowledge about merit that I have long dreamed of
Thank you! Although I find this hard to believe that newbies are reading, and wait what? You have been dreaming of merit for how long? I seriously don't know what is happening. What is up with the newbie spam? Coincidence or what?

Thank you for clearing that up.

If you are interested in becoming a merit source, I would advise finding recent posts that currently have little to no merit. Anyone can find a bunch of posts that already have merit (they are public). The reason any given person would be added as a merit source is to allow them to give posts merit that doesn’t already have merit— ie. to broaden the scope of posts that receive merit, and indirectly, broaden the scope of people who receive sufficient merit to rank up (that have sufficient post quality).
Glad to. Thank you for your advice.

Pugman I think this post should be called crash course 101 on bitcointalk I've learned a lot thanks.
Thank you very much. My motive is to mainly spread knowledge, along with merits Wink and it makes me happy that people are able to learn new stuff. Here's another thread you might find useful: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/a-simple-bitcoin-qa-learn-new-and-interesting-stuff-about-bitcoin-2968050

Most of those posts either already have a decent amount of merit, or are not recent enough to be relevant.

Also, since there is the allegation on your trust page, I may as well ask it since you are asking to be put in a position of trust, are you an alt of either lauda or aTriz, or any other member, past or present of ALU?
Thank you for your feedback. The reason for a couple of old posts is to spread awareness about learning new stuff.
And no, I am not an alt of Lauda or aTriz or any other member of ALU. And that is not an allegation, rather butthurt feedback.

You don't need to answer his questions.  He's been asked multiple times to simply show the transaction where he sent back 20 stolen BTC, yet he ignores the requests.  You can ignore him as well.  Smiley
Doesn't matter. I have no problem telling the truth.
