Damn, I should have participate in this just to see how I performed.

I've whipped up a simple Bitcointalk IQ search engine where you can check how you rank against other users and where you are in the distribution.
Do we have to enter our recovery phrase to see our results?

Is there any way I could pay someone a bribe in Bitcoin to get me inside Hall of Fame top 10?
Sure, let me get the address for you. I promise it's the official forum bribe address.

I think the algorithm was set-up that as your IQ level goes up the questions become tough while having the upper limit of 200 and lower of 0 and you get less IQ points with each answer right to make it more interesting.I personally answered only 3-4 questions and my IQ was 127.After that i didn't care to stress up my brain as the ban warning was now over for me Grin

So you see the first few rounds give you good points based on the level of difficulty of question i guess so because it was random. But if you were not answering the IQ was constant which i noticed in my case on personal behalf but didn't know if there were some changes at last moment.

Nope there was no difficulty involved, questions were just random. The logic theymos added was as your IQ goes up you need more right answers to rank up. For example at 120 one right answer might give you 5/6 points but after 190 one right answer was only ~ 0.1 - 0.2 ish so you need 5-10 correct answers to get to 191.

I hit 189 but got the next question wrong & fell to 179. At that point I walked away from the table Cheesy
I guess 4th place isn’t too bad. Now what are the prizes, theymos? Wink

All good fun, thanks guys.
Yes being in top 5 of hall of fame must be interesting and joy to feel even if we take this as April fool day prank because the questions were too tough and not related to forum or bitcoin so scoring above 160 is well according to me.I am also in top 500 so some consolation prizes for me as well? Grin

Just for fun

@theymos and other members who organised this event after seeing members IQ level, those being serious about this IQ implementation and others :

My understanding of how the algorithm worked is that the further your score from 100, if you answered a question in a way such that your score will move even further from 100, the effect will decline each time you answer a question that way. It was not the questions that were getting more difficult. The questions and their answers are part of a public dataset that anyone could access (and search).

I was referring to having the scores change without the person posting nor answering any questions.

But like theymos explained it was getting harder and harder to get pass 190. The algorithm was interesting indeed, after 190 you need to answer ~ almost 10 consecutive right answers to get a single +1 IQ point but one wrong answer means immediately -1 or -2.

After getting 200 I did attempt many questions but then I realized no way it’s not going above 200 so I stopped.

₿uy / $ell ..oeleo ;(
As I said I “cheated" as I edit my post many times and refresh it many times to answer those questions that I know the answer. I did some "shots in the dark" based on logic but I failed few times.
Unfortunately It was more fun to play the QA role here and find a way to go around without looking for the answers in Google.
The questions mostly were English and US focused at least those I got.

Huge thanks for your active user stats - doubt I would've figured out a good enough scraping solution without your (indirect) help.
You're welcome Wink
For future reference: that data gets updated 3 times per day only. If you (or someone else) needs more frequent updates for something like this, I can easily do it.

too bad it ended so quickly. I was having fun learning/finding out random information that I didn't need. I wished theymos made it last for a week or at least for a few more days. this is by far the most enjoyable April fool event I've had here in the forum.
Actually it is. People will tend to know the answer just to make the post or if he just ignore it the IQ will be broadcast low. Either way its gonna make users pay attention to not posting or doing a search first unless he knows the answer.

i got a 141 i searched 1 answer.  i also stopped posting as i did not want to search for answer

i did 8 posts.
Seriously?wow thats not bad considering the questions really hard. Congrats you must be on the list for real IQ top users then.

It was actually possible to affect your IQ score without posting. If you edited your post, you had the opportunity to answer an additional question, the answer to which would affect your score. If you edited your post 10 times, you could increase your score 10 times if you got all 10 questions correct.

Well I guess that was part of IQ test Smiley

Not only did it surely provide some education to users, but it also had to have an effect on spam right?  Has anyone looked at posting statistics?  Sure, some people were probably posting a lot more than normal to get their IQ points up (which I find hilarious) but I'm guessing a lot of spammers probably took the day off as it was too much work for their reward.  I think if we replaced it with Bitcoin trivia and made it mandatory for lower member levels posting outside of the Beginners section it would be a welcomed addition to the forum.  Maybe even spur some more cheap membership buys.  Hell, make everyone wearing a signature do it at least occasionally (except Donators and VIPs, LOL)...
The education was unrelated to bitcoin, so there is that...

IQ scores are supposed to measure a person's ability to learn, and the score is a measurement on a bell curve. It might have been funny to have each answered question affect a "hidden" raw score, and those raw scores could be normalized via a bell curve into a public "IQ" score. This would mean that people's IQ score would change even if they didn't post anything.

Congrats to all top hall of famers IQ people on the list. I wonder how many of those in the list didnt use any guide such as Google or reference to complete answers questions being shown yesterday.

Can anyone on the list raised their hand to say that he didnt tease answer from searching it and will definitely applaud for his cool brain for knowing lots of answers to some very hard questions.

I would love if theymos give us some prizes (for the top 10 in Hall of Fame)  Wink
Gratz dude. Being in the list is already an honor, but who knows maybe theymos got something for you guys.

Of course, there will be none who are in the top 100 or top 200 list who managed to gain this position by their own knowledge. No one's mind is an encyclopedia.  Smiley Those who wanted to be in the top IQ race, could not do it without google.
Other people like me, didn't take any help from google but answered the questions by random selection.

You wish for a prize for participating in a good joke, LOL...That's another good joke and it seems the joke is one you. Haven't been on the forum for a while, I'm sure most of the forum users where aware or had a hunch on this. Although, a few of us might have just answered a few questions just to keep up with the requirements to keeping your account, less a good joke turns to a bad one.  Grin

Anyway, looking at the statistics as we have it, it conveys a few message ranging from users that are conscious on forum updates and tends to take things serious, those that care about there accounts, those that are active and possibly, the smart once.

Your sure to expect another one, come next year 1st of April. Nice stats by the way!
