Remember guys, if bitcoin goes mainstream and your investment makes you rich ... these are the same people who will tell you how "lucky" you are.

This is happening to me as we speak... i was trying really hard to persuade them to risk some pocket money to buy btc back in 2011-12. Got tired trying and just stopped talking about it. Now they tell me that i am lucky bustard.

Doh, it's hard to understand people : )

I really hate such 'friends', frankly I think it's assholish and I disconnect from them.

A friend should support you, help you, not work against you and then when you do succeed, dismiss it with 'lucky'. It angers me.

After many years of suffering I think I understand people finally, there are just a lot of assholes and bitches, especially among 'family', replace them with nice people and your life greatly improves!  Cool

I had several wealthy friends tell me to cash out at 200 in April.   It was painful to watch the bubble slowly subside to $100 but I held.

I have learned that if you truly believe in something just stick with it.   Don't let the naysayers or doom and gloom types stop you.

Please do not PM me loan requests!

I've taken so many red pills in front of their faces.

Only the friends who have no bitcoins tell me to cash out... jealous bastards haha

If you don't know what bitcoin is, it's not weird for people to advise you to convert the internet magic money to "real" money  Tongue

I don't discuss whether I have any or not, just tech.

Mine wont shut up...
Smart,I also refuse to tell friends and it has proven invaluable.

I have told family though and was trying to get them in 2 years ago but that went absolutely nowhere but they are actually happy it all worked out and wonder more about it now.

I can say now people are actually listening and trying to understand bitcoin now, rather than just dismissing it as a pyramid or ponzi sceme.
ive hooked up with friends and family, with small amounts to get their interest.

i guess its all about delivery.

The ones telling to cash out don't understand bitcoin.

This is not a stock to get in and out and be done with it.

Sure it can go to $10, but if bitcoin keeps spreading like it is doing now and is a common form of payment in 5-10 years then you have to buy bitcoin again anyway, at some point!

-->>> So only sell all of your coins if you know for sure that you will never buy any again. Or if you are sure you will be able to buy much lower.

Mine wont shut up...

I try explaining what bitcoin is, they think it's a "scam' lol.  I don't get how that's possible when the currency is decentralized.
Anyways, I told them to buy a couple like me when the price was at $120 USD, and of course they changed the subject in like, 2 seconds.

That's it, really.

They think it's a scam because of the way it's sold/described to them. To be honest, it usually does sound like a ponzi/pyramid scheme and does sound too good to be true, and if something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. I ask them if they think trading fiat money or buying shares is a scam, and just tell them I've made nearly 10 times my money and to do a bit of research and keep an eye on the markets.

It's funny how bitcoin changes your perception of what it means to "cash out."  Cash out to what??

Cash out to cash. Fiat. I mean, I doubt a Ferrari garage is gonna accept BTC, but they'll happily take cold, hard cash.

Bitcoin
They all tell me I should sell..

They just dont know much about it..  I keep replying that I still buy as I can, and they should too..

That's the same story all over since BTC were @ 10$..

No one bought, and they keep saying I should sell.. They just dont know much about BTC.

The peer pressure is too great!

Must retain balls of steel!

I told them I already cashed out of USD, EUR, etc. into BTC.

Then they mentioned some crap about diversifying which I countered with why would I want to pay about 40% in taxes just to diversify into something that can more easily be seized, is not limited in amount, has a lower return, etc.?

Of course, this is from someone who does not understand the tech. I think Bitcoin has outgrown any of its natural predators and is pretty much unstoppable from a tech standpoint now. Consequently, a lot of the risk and uncertainty is gone. This will allow Bitcoin to become its destiny.

And if just 1% of Chinese move a mere $20 into Bitcoin then the price will go to at least $10,000. And what is everyone starting to talk about over the holidays, etc.? Bitcoin is going viral. Just strap in and hold on for the longest time.

Plus, why take advice from them? They were wrong. And their advice could be bias; they may want to acquire cheap bitcoins.

I have been mining since mid 2010. I spent as I wnet and reinvested in mining gear when BTC = $200. Insult to injury, I passed on my wife's endorsement to invest $1K when BTC was $2  Sad

I could have been a millionaire but I did what was right at the time.

Now with a fist full of coins (<5 BTC) I hang on with grim determination for the $100K per BTC mark.

i did the same thing, bought a mini rig instead of 3300 coins..... Can't undo that mistake!

By the way BTC @ $2000 today is almost the same as BTC @ $2 two years ago. I don't think that BTC will ever be traded lower than $2000 in 2014.

Only that it looks like people thingk that LTC @ $2 is the same as BTC @ $2 two years ago.

Keep in mind that as BTC is being traded @ $1000 there are hundreds if not thousands of new bitcoiners buying their very first bitcoins @ that price "$1000". These new Bitcoiners are the ones in turn of holding the flame and they wouldn't pass it up until the price reaches $1500 if not $2000. This is what really was going on over and over again. Whenever there are bears falling there are much more bulls joining the game. It does't matter which station you are going to take off, there are always someone taking your place to the next station.

Bitcoin true value can not be evaluated in money. Bitcoin true value is in what money is trying to evaluate. Money has proven to fail in such complex equation. Bitcoin is solid enough to replace money and gold.I understand that its too early to make such statement in 2013. In this case lets add one more statement: There is nothing that can hold BTC from being traded for $1,000,000. It all comes to how much its being used. It is being used now and in 2013 in general much more that how it has been used in 2012. There is no doubt that in the coming couple of years the number of Bitcoin users and services will be multiplied by at least 100 times. So it is ready very possible that BTC will reach 10,000 in 2014.

I still remember the days BTC was being traded for $2 then 7$ then 15$ then 35$ then 90$, .....

If you look just one year back: in November 2012 a lot of Bitcoiners cashed out @ 22$ to 50$ thinking that it wouldn't get any higher than such value in 2013. Guess what? Its November 2013 now and the price has advanced 20x. Oh yea $10,000 per 1 BTC in 2014 might happen in just the first half of the year.

Are you still thinking about cashing out?

By the way BTC @ $2000 today is almost the same as BTC @ $2 two years ago. I don't think that BTC will ever be traded lower than $2000 in 2014.
