Hero accounts have values supported by the massive recognition and the large amount of payout by signature campaign! Ppl here are eager to have hero accounts. Their holders wouldn't do anything bad (small amount) to ruin their hero accounts.

I totally agree with that but sometimes people sell their accounts discretely. If a scammer buys a hero account he could have the intention of using a previously trusted hero account to trick people into being scammed.
Personally I think it takes a long time to become a hero member, it's sort of an achievement so I'd never dream of selling mine when I become a hero member.

To directly respond to the OP hero accounts are nowhere near worthless, you can earn over 6 BTC  a year as a hero member just by participating in a pay per post signature campaign. If you're on here a lot posting then you might aswell get paid for it.

You two got the points there.
An hero member account wont ruin himself in scams or so.
Other different thing is if the account has been bought.
So in my opinion, hero member accounts are not worthless, however if you are going to trust someone (maybe for an off market trade), if possible always use some escrow.

I've seen some discussions of users selling or buying bitcointalk accounts. Another day I saw a discussion between two hero members praising each other and saying that you should really use the other one's (paid) services. Because of the trading of accounts, I don't trust the status of any account anymore.

They aren't worthless, Hero Members in this forum are just used to the forum that's why you see them recommending services to themselves. Also, if you sell a hero member account, that is a potential 0.5 btc. And signature campaigns also offer higher rates to hero members compared to lower ranks.

But keep in mind that a member's rank in this forum doesn't define his/her trustworthiness; it only describes how long has he/she been here in this forum.

What about legendary accounts?

not the rank, no. but Legendary members are very few and you can just spare some time and look at their post history to see if their opinions have any value and trustworthy or not. but of course that's just my opinion.

I don't really take any notice of the rankings to be honest.

There's nothing worth reading in my post history.

Hero accounts are not worthless, this are on of the most expensive accounts here.

With good trust you can get to 0.8 BTC here for it.

In high paid signature campagins you can make 0.6 BTC or more in 1 month!

that's not the right answer for OP's question. the main question of this topic is not their price but their opinion and trust. should people believe that whatever site a hero ranked member vouched for is legit? the answer to that is no.

from financial perspective, they obviously worth something, just because you can sell them and they had better pay per post ratio in sig. campaign.

anyway, from any other perspective, I don't see any advantage, it is just mark, that you spent some time here and discover this forum/bitcoin sooner than others newly incoming..nothing else.

I hope Hero accounts aren't worthless. I'm almost there myself, and I like the idea of having the word "Hero" as a title. I've always wanted to be a superhero. I wonder if I get to wear tights and a cape.

Good.

Hero (or any other rank) only means: I spend a lot of time here and I post a lot, well or I bought the account from someone who did. That should be no ground for trust. Look into someone if you want to trust them.

I've also seen at least one listing for an account on level 2 default trust. It was awhile ago, and if I remember right it sold for a fairly high amount. But I agree, once you start selling accounts with high trust ratings, or being on default trust then chances are the account being sold will be used for scamming rather than making money on signature campaigns.

IMO the chance of a sold trusted account successfully scamming are not very good these days because people always asks for a signed message when they have a hunch or see a little change in your way of posting.

The only way a user can get to know whether the account is sold or not is by checking any changes in the password (which has a record only of the past 30 days) or when the user posts any thread. What if he/she sends a message to newbies who don't bother asking for a signed message. Not everyone over here does ask for a signed message while trading unless they find the account having a suspicious behavior. The only reason these accounts are sold is because of paid signatures else they are useless/worthless and unfortunately people buy these accounts for scamming rather than signature campaigns.

There are some members who sell their Hero accounts and sometimes even Legendary accounts as they don't want to deal in bitcoins ever. For them, their BCT account would be lying untouched and would become useless and hence they sell it to earn about $50-$100. It's a good deal for them. I wouldn't be surprised if an escrow too thinks of selling their accounts but that's a rare case which could be dangerous.

As has been said, Hero accounts are worth a few bucks because signature campaigns know that all their previous posts will carry their advertising, so they get a big exposure in more serious threads as well as depth of time and total post count.
They are worth nothing per se in terms of trustability because of the trading of accounts.
