yes of course that can happen, when all people including investors and bounty hunter no longer benefited on the project ico chances ico will disappear sometime later. now many ico projects are scam, it is enough to make investors think twice before investing.
Last year ico market was so profitable for investor but This year market is not good That's why investor are not interested to invest in ico period. So that may ico become failed. But i think ico not be end,hopefully ico is a continue process.
Personally, I do not think that ETH will end like this, and they will survive and develop forever. Today there are too many ICO projects, and they will be one of the potentially risky places. Most of us need to prepare such intensive knowledge so that we can have a huge profit in this market.

ICO's this year are not as profitable compared to 2017. Almost all ICO's last 2017 sold out immediately. This 2018, even good projects with businesses behind them are not hitting hardcap.

I think ico is only the beginning of the way to crypto-currencies. Perhaps they will somehow regulate and they will become more reliable but they will definitely be even more than now. After all, ico in 2018 collected more than in 2017.

Bitcoin didn't need any ICO to succeed. It was started by one single person and it has become such huge now without any funding from anyone. If a project has real world use cases and is solid with strong fundamentals than there is nothing that can stop it from succeeding. No one can say if ICOs are going to last forever or some other model of funding is going to evolve.
I think ico not gonna end but to be fully regulated, it all depends on the regulation of the countries participating in the ico, for example, not all citizens of the Usa are allowed to participate in the ico, in the future there will be more such countries, under the pretext of protecting their citizens from fraud.
In my point of view, icos can not end but I think if there is good and reasonable regulations in place, the useless, worthless, and scam ICO will be eradicate without any traces.

you are right, if there are still many investors believe in ico then ico will continue to live even in the future maybe there will be bounty and ico more interesting, i mean with more ico and bounty
