Since there are better alternatives that would save you more money, won't you go for it? Even an above-average person would weigh their options, which conceived what I wrote.
Once again - just because there are much betetr alternatives than ATM, its still good to have them. Having more competition is what brought the fees down.

I used them for years but luckily now I have much better options available, but still I like the idea of having more options than not and I just don't understand that " be lucky that you don't have ATMs in your country" mindset.

Be thankful that a Bitcoin ATM is not in your country because it might be a decoration in most countries unless the country is rich.
Why on earth should anyone be thankful not to have another option to buy/sell bitcoin?? Just because ATM fees are geenrally higher than other ways to trade bitcoin doesn't make them useless.
You probably might have viewed this from a different angle from mine, and of course, Bitcoin ATM is not useless, I never said that. But this is a means that people transact Bitcoin and part ways with an insane amount of money. Since there are better alternatives that would save you more money, won't you go for it? Even an above-average person would weigh their options, which conceived what I wrote.

That's more reason why I added a rich country because, in rich countries, people might still want to sacrifice the charges, not that it doesn't pinch them at all, but because they have good statuses which makes it sacrificeable. Upon that, the charges will still reduce the number of patronage of the ATM machines in the rich countries compared to though there were no high charges attributed to it. How much more in developing/underdeveloped countries?

I can assure you that it would be worse in those countries because almost everyone would prefer the better alternative channels because they would believe that the charges are even enough to do better things with their lives than to sacrifice it on a Bitcoin ATM. Now tell me, what is the use of Bitcoin ATMs littering the country abandoned? It is better to put it in the country where it will be in regular use and not left redundant.

I come from Indonesia and if you see some news in the local media that i read there are 2 bitcoin atm in my country where it is located in the capital city (Jakarta) and in a fairly famous destination (Bali) but indeed the bitcoin ATM is no longer used at this time for several reasons, especially the lack of interest in doing so.
I have read about a news there that your government is very strict with crypto matters and that's probably one reason why the company that owned those bitcoin ATMs left and abandoned those.
It's actually not like that. As far as I feel while being in crypto, especially for bitcoin, I personally don't feel that the government in my country is strictly limiting this because seeing from what is happening now even though I have only been in crypto for a few years, my country's government is actually giving a good thing because they facilitate crypto even though this is only used as a commodity but there are no restrictions or even prohibitions for everyone to be in crypto, it's just that we also have to comply with regulations that crypto is still only used as a commodity not as a means of payment.
In fact, if you look at the seriousness of the government in my country in crypto, there is actually something quite proud where one of the governors in the Indonesian region some time ago became a speaker bitcoin conference 2023 in Miami and gave a promise where there is a project that will later have mining in Indonesia even though it has not yet been implemented.

I also have the same desire where maybe i just want to try even if it's just once but indeed with a fee that is quite expensive of course it's not too good for me because after all in this case we certainly have other options to deposit or withdraw bitcoin with a cheaper fee especially with a nominal as in the article where the minimum fee is 10 percent then I think it's still too big for me.
Even so, it doesn't matter if you just want to try it and I also have the same desire if I find a bitcoin atm in my country now.
10% for the fee is really too high. We can do a lot of things with that already if your withdrawal is quite high but even so, 10% is a big no just for a fee.

I'll take the other route of going through some exchange and use them as an outlet to get that money of mine and will pay little amount or commissions of theirs for the process.
That may be one of the reasons why bitcoin ATMs are not too lyrical in my country even though they are placed in the capital city and in one of the tourist sectors but because the fee is too large, it is certain that those who will transact will think twice about doing it unless they just want to try it.

Like other traditional banks ATMs ,the same is also applicable to Bitcoin, charges are been attached to every usage.

Bitcoin ATMs fees are being charge when you use it to buy or sell Bitcoin that is the total value of transactions made which can be at the range of 10% to 23% and the fees can vary because of different geopolitical location and it also has to do with the particular Bitcoin ATM provider you are making transactions from .

Hello Leo! You can still win.
I would like to know that if there are charges to use these bitcoin ATMs. What are those charges ?
Companies that set up ATM outlets are not charity organizations, they will never do it without the intention of making some profit from it, that is in fact the main purpose. There must be charges that constitute to profit for the service providers, the company that have installed the ATM and routinely performs maintenance on it.
A centralized system is always geared towards profit making. Just like the exchanges try to increase their fees to be higher than the non custodial wallets fees.

If we think logically, I think Bitcoin ATMs definitely charge somewhat higher fees due to convenience fees .
Between the P2p that you can do from your phone and from any location, do you still think that Bitcoin ATM's that you will have to go a little distance from your home to use, and may have to wait your turn to use is more convenient?
Convenience you mean? Maybe you can say about security purpose. They try to pay physical security to protect the area of the ATM.

I haven't used Bitcoin ATMs myself because my country doesn't have any but I have read about others.
Bitcoin ATMs usuall charge higher costs in fees and have a slightly higher premium in exchange costs.
That's how the ATM owner get it's revenue and settle up the maintenance costs.

I've been hearing of Bitcoin ATMs all around the world, but they're not popular because as far as I know many Bitcoin holders don't patronize them, I also heard that their transaction charges are on the high side, also many Bitcoin users will prefer their transactions to be in privacy. I believe that the main reason why Bitcoin ATM is not popular is because of the high transaction fees, but then it's to be expected because the ATM providers will maintain it and pay it's staff from the service charges. I doubt that Bitcoin ATM will be widely used because you can sit comfortable without prying eyes and carry out any Bitcoin transactions with your device.

Some ATMs might charge you for transactions, others might not.
All ATMs have fees simply because their owners woulnd't be able to cover the cost of operating them without it.

Be thankful that a Bitcoin ATM is not in your country because it might be a decoration in most countries unless the country is rich. Those who are planning the implementation of ATMs across the world are not thinking about the heavy charges introduced and how they can kill their business in the face of many alternative channels from which Bitcoin can be withdrawn. It could have been exploitative and a no-choice situation if it was only through ATM we could withdraw our Bitcoin. But it is pointless for most people to have another means to do that cheaply but still withdraw through the ATMs that are so costly.

From what I wrote, you can decipher that there are charges, and even though I've not gotten a Bitcoin ATM card before, I know the charges will start from the procurement of the ATM card itself, that can't be free, especially if they ship it to you. It should attract similar charges to the regular international card services' charges. This is aside from the average of 16% charges when you use the ATM, which depends on the company issuing the ATM, your location and the amount needed.

Of course, the maintenance service must be there even if it is not high, and these are the reasons why the Bitcoin ATM initiative is not growing as it should be.

It's pretty neat that they're cropping up in some countries. Some ATMs might charge you for transactions, others might not. And as for who foots the bill for maintenance, it's usually the operators. They make their bucks through transaction fees or maybe by selling Bitcoin at a slightly higher rate.

With expensive fee, Bitcoin ATMs are the very last option to use when people can not have other ways to buy or spend their bitcoins.

If they have other options that surely are abundant nowadays with bigger adoption of Bitcoin, they will not choose Bitcoin ATMs to use. No one wants to use Bitcoin ATMs while they will have to be charged more expensive fee than other options.

With many exchanges and Peer to Peer marketplaces, it is easily to cash out Bitcoin to have fiat currency and use it in your daily life or travel trip to a new nation.

There are charges and fees are so high that Bitcoin ATMs will immediately become unattractive for you. I don't understand what's the point of running a business that has such a high fee that 99% of people probably won't use it. If you are in a rush, need money and you only hold bitcoins, it will be better to visit bestchange.com and have a look at btc to local currency exchange rates, there are websites that charge lower than Bitcoin ATMs and courier delivers money to you (I have not experienced this myself but after looking for it on Bestchange, I understand that some exchanges work this way too).

Check this: I purchased $20 worth of BTC with cash in an atm but I ended up only getting $13.

I did not know that there were some in my country, and it’s not just in the capital city but it is spread across the country even in rural areas. I personally have never used any despite having quite a lot just in my city.

And the charges rages from 7% to 15% the one I’m aware of,

The question would be how is this better than the already expensive transaction fees? And does doing this in public truly more convenient than doing it at home or anywhere where you can value your privacy?

This concept has been here for quite a long while already and I've seen advertisements and clips about actual ATMs for BTC, ETH, and other crypto coins. However, I would think it's not really necessary to have one and to look at them the same way we see fiat. It's an alternative in the first place and of course, the charges for crypto atm transactions would be higher. I'd rather have them just in my wallet for trades and online crypto transactions. We're not in a time yet where BTC financial transactions are that mainstream that we can use it exactly as how we use regular money.

I'm not sure that I have ever seen a bitcoin ATM where the charges were at least somewhat reasonable.  I love the concept of bitcoin ATMs, and I think they could still play a pivotal role for bitcoin and it's adoption/adoption rate.  But those smart enough know not to use it, and those who do use them, then find out how much they are paying aren't likely to ever go back to one or recommend them.  Would be smart to somehow lower the fees..not sure if possible.

I have never made any transactions using bitcoin ATMs because in my previous country there were only 2 ATMs in the city center and in tourist attractions but they were no longer used and left abandoned due to lack of interest. But if you talk about fees it seems like it must be there and I read some related articles where it says that the fees for transactions vary.

When you use a Bitcoin ATM to buy or sell Bitcoin (BTC), expect to encounter fees in the range of 10% to 23%. These fees can vary greatly, influenced by factors like your geographical location, the total value of the transaction, and the specific Bitcoin ATM provider you're dealing with.
In my opinion, it is usually quite large where the minimum fee is 10 percent, obviously, it is not a favorable situation for making transactions even though I still want to try it even once but I might think twice about this because the fee is quite expensive.

There was one Bitcoin ATM in my country that worked for a while before it later stopped working. The excitement was really high when it was launched, the news really brought many people into Bitcoin. I guess it failed because of our government policy in Bitcoin then via the central bank. They were never friendly with Bitcoin and were freezing the accounts of some individuals and businesses that were involved with Bitcoin. People were therefore very careful and resorted to trading P2P only with extra effort in the transactions so that they do not have any description or information that suggest they are related to Bitcoin.

I don't think there was anything that changed about the use of Bitcoin ATMs. People were just discouraged probably by the high transaction fees and longer waiting time for payment confirmation as a result of network congestion. I think a lot of improvements have to be made to this technology to engender more adoption of the Bitcoin ATM.

Bitcoin ATM are not like open software where anyone can make something for the community and make it free. For Bitcoin ATM to function, there must be a payment gateway embedded withing the ATM which is not going to be free, so any company or entity trying to construct one for people to use will definitely has to charges. We haven't talk about the electrical bill to power the machine everyday for customers to use, we also have license money to be paid, you can't just use one if you are not approved.

The company or entity who want to make this public for people would be the one to pay for all this charges and in other to get back money invested, they have to charge customers anytime they sells their Bitcoin through the ATM or buy some Bitcoin through the ATM. There are some merchants who only buy Bitcoin through their ATM, they don't sell and that's because they value Bitcoin so much and they always want to hold.

using a bitcoin ATM machine there is a charge that you will pay depending on the transaction you are making I have seen many people who lamented over bitcoin ATM machine charge is very expensive, for them to say that they charges of Bitcoin ATM is high that means it is obvious that Bitcoin ATM have its own charge as bank have their own charge when you transfer to it Bank ATM machine weekly or monthly there will be a specific amount of money will be deducted from your bank as a charge why bitcoin ATM machine you will pay the fuel instantly along with your Bitcoin you want to transact.

You can use this link to know the bitcoin locations and the countries they are located: https://coinatmradar.com/countries/

You can check the bitcoin ATM providers and the amount they are charging as fee. It is always expensive.
he has made his own research concerning the countries that uses bitcoin ATM machine for transaction but the link you learn that so far will help op to normal of countries that have a bitcoin ATM machine, how many of us who is into this community have not make use of Bitcoin ATM machine before because not all the countries are supportive of Bitcoin ATM machine that is why some many people find it difficult to explain of Bitcoin ATM machine. Think about the charging of transaction fee of ATM machine it depend on the amount of Bitcoin but you want to transfer to it, and eat will understood that Bitcoin transaction cannot be differs or the charges you will pay for $1,000 will not be as same charge that will be needed for $5,000 worth btc.

There is no bitcoin ATM in my country but I have heard that there are some countries where there are bitcoin ATMs. I would like to know that if there are charges to use these bitcoin ATMs. What are those charges ? If there are no charges, then who pays for the maintenance of these bitcoin ATMs ?
If we think logically, I think Bitcoin ATMs definitely charge somewhat higher fees due to convenience fees or additional service fees and this is a business that will benefit those who provide Bitcoin ATMs and that is for sure, and the fees are definitely higher than on exchanges.
Even though I don't know exactly and have never done it, what is certain is that there is a difference in costs if we do it at an ATM and at an exchange.
I always Lament on it because many people who transact with bitcoin ATM machine always complain that the charge they pay on bitcoin ATM machine is time's two the charges they spend on exchange, so for me bitcoin charges in ATM machine varies on the amount of the transaction you are transacting with, they does not charge base on random or ratio of bitcoin, but depends on the gravity of bitcoin you transact, but for me I will like a situation whereby we use an exchange to transact on bitcoin since the transaction fees of bitcoin in ATM machine is high.

No Bitcoin ATM machines are free and Bitcoin ATMs are more expensive than Exchanges,
and now ATM machines seem to be decreasing and many are not being used.

Still growing, after CoinCloud went bankrupt and pulled of thousands and the rebranding of BitAccess the growth has resumed, we're back with 2 000 new ATMs in the last 6 months.
https://coinatmradar.com/charts/growth/

As long as you find a few customers who want to dal only with cash and the rent is cheap you're going to find clients, there are millions out there who would buy gift cards or pay via paysafe for example rather than using a bank, and with ATMs also offering lately usdt to buy and sell the customer base is there.
I don't think it's a matter of convenience but a matter of no choice other than this for some!

And the charges rages from 7% to 15% the one I’m aware of, and they don’t sell at the same price as the bitcoin, they always claim to increase the value of bitcoin in their AtM, and also keep the price at a very high rate, sometimes if someone sent you 1k bitcoin it will turn into 800 by the time you will receive or 760,

That's the fee, they add the fee to the price, and they charge you 10% they will ask for 77k for a BTC not 70k.
The same when selling, the fees get deducted directly from the price, pretty normal as they can't charge you otherwise legally than with a flat fee, and that would be more problematic.

Using Bitcoin ATMs is expensive. The price of convenience, and these are great if you need Bitcoin right now. However, unlike peer-to-peer transactions, there's a premium - sometimes large. Fees atop fees might eat up a lot of your transaction.

ATM corporations arent nonprofits. They have to acquire machines, rent spaces, and maintain. Someone must pay for that. Free ATMs usually mean the corporation makes money elsewhere, like the exchange rate.

I know the fees are annoying, but sometimes quickness and accessibility are worth it. ATMs help Bitcoin's goal of inviting everyone to the table. A tradeoff, plain and simple. Always compare prices before clicking - a little research goes a long way.

Stay calm and patient, guys, this is indeed a question that looks absurd and just asks without thinking whether the thing being asked needs an answer or not.

It is just common sense that whichever company sets up the btc ATM will charge the fees for such services. No company will provide a service that won't get any fee. This is why any company who will put up these ATMs should be knowledgeable on how to deal with crypto so as not to shove their company to bankruptcy.

Also, not many crypto users are using btc ATMs to cash out their crypto because of the relatively high fees compared to online exchanges. Most users who will use the actual btc ATM are just trying it for experience purposes. Once they learned how to use it and knew the transaction fees, they won't use it again.

Between the P2p that you can do from your phone and from any location, do you still think that Bitcoin ATM's that you will have to go a little distance from your home to use, and may have to wait your turn to use is more convenient?

What if you don't want to use a centralized solution that would know you have made a transaction with a person that is involved in hundreds of deals?
What if you don't want a complete stranger to know your bank details?
What if you have only cash?

There are ATM operators (I won't give you names) that go from 10 000 euros to zero in a matter of one day or two, guess why those people prefer to go to ATM rather than p2p.

These days nobody uses these because you need to KYC and you are better off using an exchange with lower fees for that.

There are a few operators that display their balances for the ATM both online and physically, I've checked a few and I was amazed at how much those change from morning to midnight, with 37 000 machines and more coming up, do you think they have no market?

There are charges which are higher and that's what I have heard though I couldn't use it as there was one installed at a mall in my country by an crypto exchange and then within days the founder of this project got arrested and the ATM was dismantled. TBH we don't really need Bitcoin ATM as it's more easier in wallet and why to waste money on higher charges using Bitcoin ATM and I genuinely don' get the concept of Bitcoin ATM wherein the Bitcoin itself is meant digital.
Totally agree with this one, I see Bitcoin ATMs not as a convenience but as a way to just flaunt that you've got a bitcoin and in my opinion, using them will probably make you a target for criminals that have some knowledge about bitcoin. Regards to usage, this is definitely true, I'd rather have the easier way of doing transactions with bitcoin rather than that of using ATM to do it, much safer and I don't feel like I'm giving away that I'm using bitcoin. The only reason why I want bitcoin ATMs to exist even if I don't like to use it is the fact that there's going to be a time that someone including me that might absolutely need, don't want things for me to happen again where I ask for something and I can find it and that there's stories of crackheads and hoodlums that try to pry open a bitcoin ATM because they thought it's got money inside it.

Obviously they will charge fees mate. They need to cover the operating costs and hence they are bound to apply fees in the transactions. If they don’t publicly show the fees, they will adjust it in the price of Bitcoins. Hence you will find often the prices are expensive compared to any exchanges. I myself have never tried any Bitcoin ATMs as these are not available in my country, but definitely have heard about this from my friends.

I rarely used bitcoin atms due to the fees. Even in the early days of bitcoin. Usually if you want to buy they charge you something like 10% and same with selling.

Only time I used one was because there were no fees for selling bitcoin only fees for buying. This was I think during the 2017 bull market where most of the demand was on the buying side and not for selling.

These days nobody uses these because you need to KYC and you are better off using an exchange with lower fees for that.

I don't have any Bitcoin ATM in my country so I can't give you exact answer but I think Bitcoin ATMs charge more fees because when we withdraw money from bank the fee is very less but when we withdraw money from any ATM to pay more fee. Either way considering this, we must see that the fees will be higher if you transact from a Bitcoin ATM. You can never use a Bitcoin ATM for free, you must use it for a fee.

To answer the question, I think I'm correct that the transaction fee is also in bitcoin or stosgi, but I'm not sure because I can't find the topic that is all about that bitcoin ATM. If I don't remember the OP, it mentioned a bitcoin ATM, but the thing is, not many people are using it like regular ATMs. Maybe it's because of the high transaction fees, so I came to conclude that the transaction fee is also in bitcoin, but is it worth it? I don't think yes, because paying for transaction fees in bitcoin is like a waste of assets. So if I'm correct, I hope those bitcoin ATMs will switch to fiat currency payment when it comes to transaction fees.

This bitcoin ATM is only, I think, implemented in one country as of now. Well, it's understandable because not many people will use it anyway, but of course it's good that it exists. At least we know there are more options for transferring or getting the money.

There is always a fee for any service involving bitcoin - but I'm not sure how much it is at each of the ATM currently available. It's possible that each ATM has different fees depending on the third party service they use - so it's not exactly the same from one to another.

Simply put ATMs are almost the same as centralized exchanges - they charge you a fee so the service will keep running. It can be said - nothing is free in this world, especially if you want to buy and sell bitcoin, including at ATM.

Yes there are fees, and on top of that they often have an agreement with a certain exchange so that the coins sent to an ATM go directly to an exchange address and land on the market ASAP because they can't afford to hold it, so you'll get that exchange's rate. Int can be different from the average, or what you see on large price indexes.

Regarding on the fee then it would be expensive and i would say that p2p tx on exchanges is much more better.

Using a Bitcoin ATM to convert fiat currency into cryptocurrency typically involves substantial exchange fees. These fees are fixed and can vary significantly, ranging anywhere between 10% to 23%, based on the specific ATM operator. These fees are not just random; they're grounded in the operational realities of Bitcoin ATMs and the broader cryptocurrency business landscape.

10% minimum? that's crazy. I've been using ATMs in a few central EU countries like Germany and the fees were 4-5%. I'd never use an ATM that charges me 20%, that's theft in broad daylight Cheesy

You can use this link to know the bitcoin locations and the countries they are located: https://coinatmradar.com/countries/

You can check the bitcoin ATM providers and the amount they are charging as fee. It is always expensive.
Hmm, it's pretty interesting, but unfortunately in my country we don't have a Bitcoin ATM. So I don't have much more words about it—how it's working, how much it costs, blah blah.

But anyway if Bitcoin ATMs have a high fee and are more expensive. So why don't we need to do a P2P exchange rather than an ATM exchange. Because if we look at the Bitcoin ATM fee so it is quite expensive. There is a 10% to 23% fee on average transactions, it depends on the county, but actually used this fee.
So i think if we use p2p instead of ATMs, which directly transfer other people's cash up it will not be better. Because firstly, you pay the Bitcion fee and then the transaction fee and then the fee of the fiat currency, so it all becomes quite expensive.

So, in my opinion, Bitcoin will be less expensive in p2p exchange than ATMs. As of now, the world has not gained enough adoption compared to Bitcoin's fiat currency, so its service charges will also be higher in comparison to the lay ATM.

Nobody runs a business without a proof, the Bitcoin Automated teller machine are not free, some reviews I watch in some videos says you will pay them a portion of fiat as fees when buying Bitcoin from the machine and you also pay the transaction fees to the machine which will be automatically deduced when you want to send to an external wallet. If you are also seeing, there is a percentage fees you pay to these machine before you can sell your Bitcoin and they also charge you fiat if you want to withdraw your money from the machine, that's how the Bank ATMs work isn't.

In some countries, you also pay tax for using the machine for public use and you also pay some fees before this machine can be allow to use in some countries, obviously without fees the running cost will be hard, I didn't even include the electricity bills to power the machine 24/7.

Companies that set up ATM outlets are not charity organizations, they will never do it without the intention of making some profit from it, that is in fact the main purpose. There must be charges that constitute to profit for the service providers, the company that have installed the ATM and routinely performs maintenance on it.

You will have to pay expensive fees with Bitcoin ATMs than any fee you will be charged from centralized exchanges or decentralized exchanges. The fee is from 6.5% to 20% or even more according to wiki [1, 2]

Just like what the others said, they charge insanely high fees, if they didn't charge additional fees, the service won't survive. Even though they charge high fees, it's surprising how they can survive until now and they're growing though.

And my question is, would you be willing to use bitcoin ATMs if your country installed them for everyone to use? Because as far as I know, most bitcoin investors don't want to lose their privacy and let someone know they are a bitcoin investor, even if bitcoin is legal in their country.
What I read not every ATMs will ask your KYC, some of them only ask your phone number, so you can use burner phone. But, if you refer to physical appearance, it's up to you.

If by charges you mean fee then yes, there is a fee when using bitcoin ATMs and is usually higher than the other ways of buying/selling bitcoin. Here in EU fee is usually in the range of 6-8% (at least in a few countries where I used BATM) and I stopped using them since luckily there are far better options.

There’s a lot of charges on using Bitcoin ATM aside from transaction fee, the price reference for Bitcoin value has a huge spread compared when you use the exchange price.
The ATMs I used usually had the pretty standard bitcoin price, not any different than the one you can see on CMC/Coingecko. For example, ATM close to my place and that I used for years was using Bitstamp to set the bitcoin price and then just charging 6% flat fee on the transaction.

Long story short, there are charges and the charges are always expensive for the common man.
I’ve read several stories of users complaining of high bitcoin ATM charges and I don’t know if anyone has ever looked into this or not but I think the charges are also used for the maintenance of the machines and from information I heard some time ago, the fees are set by the machine operators and owners and I was also told that most of the machines are own by private firms and individuals and as such, the fees are been determined by just them.
I think one way to comb the high fees with bitcoin machines are to possibly regulate them but I do understand that, nobody wants regulation in bitcoin and cryptocurrency but the price of machine transactions is getting out of hand.

Definitely there are charges attached to using the Bitcoin ATM . Even if you haven't yet used the Bitcoin ATM. The more popular fiat ATM requires some fees for your transaction to be carried out, also when sending Bitcoin to a wallet you would be required to pay transaction fee.

All this fee's including that of the Bitcoin ATM makes your transaction possible so yes it's important and this fee varies from country to country or from the settings on the machine.

Here is a post that properly explains it

Normally charges must apply. Is there any good service that is being offered without charges whether of bitcoin related or not, for you to get a good services you must pay for it directly or indirectly.

There are charges that apply to every transaction done with the bitcoin ATM machines, they mostly used for maintenance and I believe it's a sacrifice for giving you comfortablity. If you choose comfortablity you have to pay for it and that's exactly why charges apply in every transaction but it price it offers in a particular transaction varies so it's all dependent on how much you are transacting with.

For me I don't think I will ever think of going to transact with ATMs as they are more expensive than the regular transactions carried out on a regular.

I've never used a bitcoin ATMs and don't intend to use them because doing so would let people know I own bitcoins and I don't want that to happen. But I think using bitcoin ATMs is just like bank ATMs and nothing is free, everything needs to be maintained and to maintain they need to charge users. Nothing in life is free and the more utility something offers, the higher its cost.

And my question is, would you be willing to use bitcoin ATMs if your country installed them for everyone to use? Because as far as I know, most bitcoin investors don't want to lose their privacy and let someone know they are a bitcoin investor, even if bitcoin is legal in their country.

What are those charges ? If there are no charges, then who pays for the maintenance of these bitcoin ATMs ?

Of course, there are fees, otherwise, who would just run them?
Rent, the machine itself, staff, and profit, all comes from fees and they are all over the place, not just by the atm manufacturer or owner of the franchise but in what country and in the place it's installed, someone who has a lot of traffic in city center mall might want to take advantage of that and make it the cheapest in the city and some might want just to take advantage of curious buyers in his own pub.

The problem is that the fees are not always clear, some just offer you the price at which you can buy and no fee, so you buy without paying a dime extra for transactions but they charge you $70000 for a BTC not $67000, and this becomes harder when it's in your national currency and not just as you have to triple check everything!

In my country, there are much simpler ways of buying/selling BTC online, from the comfort of one's home, with very low (virtually non-existent) fees. But perhaps in some other countries ATMs can be an attractive option.

When you have a wad of cash that you don't want the bank to know about it, then maybe 10% is not that much  Grin

For those that have been privileged of having bitcoin ATM in their country and near their location, they have tested using it and discovered the charges on it transaction fee is much higher than expected and therefore, many could not afford paying that much since some of them may not be handling a huge amount of transaction at the same time, this make the affordability of the fee something many users couldn't go with as well as the location barrier where you can sight a single bitcoin ATM.

It’s more convenient to use exchange P2P to convert your Bitcoin directly to your bank account using other user fund through bank transfers rather than use a Bitcoin ATM which is not available on most location.

There are a few ATMs in my country, but I've never used them. People often mention very serious fees (around 10%), plus sometimes you need your national ID, plus you're doing it in public space where there can be various people interested in finding out who has cryptos. I do not have a bitcoin around me so I wouldn't know about their charges from a user experience. However, you should check this thread - Bitcoin ATM Deposit Exchange Rate shocks because a similar question was asked with regards to deposit sometime and several users with real life expereince provided an answer to most of it.

For example from DaveF experience using BATM, he said -
Quote
Bitcoin depo does usually have fees in the 10% range. BUT as far as I know individual store owners can set their own rates so it may not 100% be on Bitcoin depo.

While for Rikafip who answered specifically for the fees in Europe, he said -
Quote
Bitcoin ATM's have higher fees (usually in the range 5-7%, at least over here in Europe), but this is far from normal.

This was just a year ago, I do not if the fee percentage has change. Secondly I notice that the fee you pay is based on the country where you want to use it.
