I think those who are team bettors need additional costs as a way for them to participate and or become members of certain bettors, but if that only happens to a group of friends then they will also do it in different ways. Because I think not all bettors do it with in-depth analysis, because there are also those who only bet based on the available odds.
So I think things like this have many factors because each of them has a different purpose or purpose.
But if it's about whether I'm a single bettor or a team bettor, then I'll answer it as a single bettor. Because for me single bettors are still interesting to do, because we also do everything in our own way and don't just follow other people.

I myself prefer sports batting alone but I have a small group and sometimes we all do sports batting together when a popular sports tournament starts like the World Cup ended a few days ago. Because it's much more fun to group together and bet on popular tournaments. But for other sports I bet alone. Because everything cannot be enjoyed with everyone. There are certain things that are not to everyone's liking. Which has to be enjoyed on its alone
I'm a lone betor when it comes betting because I want to take full responsibility of my lose or win bet and not blame anybody about the outcome of the game I placed. The only thing I do sometime is maybe if I'm not confident about a particular game ,then I seek for other gamblers opinion on a particular game I want to bet on to get a better view and to take good decision.
If you are a lone bettor you should always check things first before betting, there are many factors in sports especially during tournaments. Like who are going to play for team A, or who are not going to play for team B. Who are not playing because of injuries. Who are not playing because of sickness. These are the kind of factors that affect your betting, while you can check these things on your own there will be some people, same bettor on the same sports or game that you might want to also check beforehand.

Knowing who will play is easy to tell but what is hard is knowing if there will be a player that will get injured or sick but in some games, there are a cashout option available. I think there will be no blame game from what @OP is telling. You are free at your own will to follow the betting suggestion of the group you are following. So blaming them while they do not force their idea to you is not good IMO.

If they bet more than you do, sure they will make more money than you. Or if they maliciously create that group to intentionally mislead bettor then sure they will earn more money than you. And definitely they will earn money from you because they are the one who has the skill to perfectly analyze the sports outcome so they can bet anywhere they wanted and get a good result.
This stands to prove the same point; that sports isn't about too many experiences, -- very many times, the experience you've had will only make you reselect invalid games with bigger odds..or sometimes you might assume that games with smaller odd stands a bigger Chance to bring winnings -- when the final whistle is blown, it becomes a different story.

Betting alone for me is no fun, sometimes you have to share your predictions and odds interpretation with the sport community that you're in, it has nothing against you btw.
It's quite fun to share to others your standings and how well or bad your predictions are. The same goes with the other bettors.
However, choosing to be a lone bettor is fine also as long as your bets and interpretations with the odds are effective.
Lone bettor on football and group bettor on Basketball, Tennis, Cricket, horse racing. In the latter I go with the popular maxim that , "two or more good heads are better than one". In the former, I am driven by the saying that, "experience is the best teacher". I have won and lost on both sides but that doesn't mean that one is better than other. I like to think that people who see themselves as independent will most likely be lone bettors while those who think themselves as communal will be comfortable being in a group. This is me, I don’t rely to anyone with regards to my betting decision because in gambling you should know what you are doing and relying to others are not ok most of the time. Analyzing the whole team and players is ideal even if you are not a serious bettor, this can still save you from losing your money. A lone sports gambler but I do check Sports Chat Place about what their prediction will be because sometimes I follow them too if their choice is respectively fair to win. But it doesn't mean I do not check the analysis of the game. Always try to enhance your chance to win a bet by researching injury reports, home game winning percentage, and road games. The Golden State Warriors as an example had been winning their home games and yet they lose yesterday against the Detroit Pistons in the Bay Area even if they are the favorites.

I would fall in the category of the lone sport bettor. I always try to interpret the odds myself and do my own research on teams I’m betting on and against. Occasionally, I do let myself be swayed by the opinions of other people placing the same bet. I do take tips from other people but I generally don’t let myself be be dependent on other people’s pointers and advice.
Most of these predictions people find online on these various platforms are in most times misleading and purposefully false.

Under your definition, I do not think anyone is properly a lone bettor. You eventually are not immune to the noise and the news that are out there unless you do not talk to anyone, listen to any news nor have any world contact. It is for each to decide how to filter that noise and how to make the best out of the limited information and the limited reliability of such information.
I'm a lone bettor with historical analysis of the team etc, I've also previously see another people opinion on this forum or in other media to strengthen my predictions. But to bet on the bettor group didn't cross my mind because they usually charge every month, it's better for me to bet with small money on other people free predictions at this forum, they reveal also an analysis of why they made that bet.

That's what I like about being a lone bettor, you can't blame anyone but yourself. But then you learn for your mistakes and not make the same betting strategies so that you can win the next time.

Groups related on betting or other thing especially when dealing some money from different people is somehow sometimes associated with scam. So I guess this will never give any benefits to a gambler since if the group they join will ask some money and say they will collecting money so that they can bet a huge amount on their predictions then that's how they get scam. So much better to be lone bettor and learn from your self rather than looking for tips gotten by random groups.
