Regulation can be seen as positive if we talk about getting mass adoption.
99% of the people are not willing to "take the risk" of using the "unknown and scary" bitcoin.

99% of people simply do what they are told by media, like opening bank accounts to be tracked 24/7, get life-long loans without knowing the rate of interest, etc etc.

If they are told bitcoin is good to use, they will start doing so, at a very basic level, following every instruction and being subject to regulation and tracking.

Those who understand the reality of bitcoin and cryptocurrency will take advantage of its full potential, and its price spike due to mass adoption.

One of the things I learned from cryptocurrency is that general public asks for freedom, but they don't really want freedom. They just want to complain about their lives.

To me, understanding that decentralization will never be a reality for the masses, the fact that governments accept bitcoin, even regulating it, is amazing news.

I noticed many pro government Regulation of Bitcoin popping up everywhere thesedays it makes me wonder whether fellow Bitcoiners are in support of these people or more focused on accumulating more Bitcoin & Altcoin.
Would Satochi be in Support of Regulation? Are you in support or against?

I am also one of the people who are against to that regulation. I don't think it is a good at all. Bitcoin exist for so many years without any government that controls. Now the value of bitcoin doubled and tripled then they get interested about it?
We people have the right to control it not them. Government does not own it. We respect the government but they must also respect us because without people there is no government.
If it happens so many bitcoiners will not follow it.

Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!
So far my country hasn't yet ruled it out so I'm not against the rules and pay transaction taxes as per the specified rules, many bitcoin profits can be withdrawn from the tax sector but the government cannot see it as a potential prospect, I have no problem and the most important thing is to find bitcoin for deadline which is not specified.

Well, If government couldn't regulate nor tax the Internet, I don't know if it's possible to regulate or tax Bitcoin... It's just not possible. Government MIGHT end up taxing big Bitcoin companies just as ISP, Apple, Google, Amazon are taxed. however. majority will not be taxed
Same as regulation. Bitcoin cannot be regulated.  I wasn't too familiar with the workings of Bitcoin when I asked the dumb question.
So, don't worry, Bitcoin can neither be taxed nor regulated.

But decentralized doesn't mean in all cases, that you can't control or regulate. In opposite: Nothing is more transparent like bitcoin. You can follow all payments from beginning on, I think.

Before entering bitcoin I read some site in the google about bitcoin.
https://bitcoin.org/en/faq
As said on that site "Nobody owns the Bitcoin network much like no one owns the technology behind email. Bitcoin is controlled by all Bitcoin users around the world. "
So my answer if I am For or Against "Government" Regulation of bitcoin is I am Against about this idea. We bitcoiners have only the right to control/ regulate bitcoin. The government will only use bitcoin as source of income to the point that they will make sure they will earn more than the people who do bitcoin. They will collect tax for this and other fees they want.

Hello I go to the address and I read it. Yes the page contain the sentences inside your quotation mark.
After reading it, I agree with you JoMarrah. I am also against about the idea of regulation.
It seems like we will be dictated by the government if that happened. Government don't own bitcoin in the fisrt place, they do not fund for it so I think it is really a bad idea.

Now i don't see anything about it. Also i don't see that my Government could do something for bitcoin. Because now in my country government is not doing properly work for welfare working in country, and government have some political issues like panama, that's why my government have no time to see bitcoin regulations.

As a Bitcoin user the side of the government regulating Bitcoin is a no for me but if a country's government will identify Bitcoin as a payment method or even as a currency then I am on their side. If my country identifies Bitcoin as a currency it means that it will make the Bitcoin user's life in our country convenient as not only it can be used in exchanges but now it can be use to purchase items from a business.

As it is currently, I would say I am in-between because of the fact that if its being regulated then the freedom bitcoin promises might be eroded on the other hand, if we go against government regulations, then we are giving a free card to be duped by either developers or promoters all in the name of either ICOs or exchange sites or even gambling sites without anybody calling them to order or even bringing them to be responsible for their actions against the general populace of in the crypto-world.

CryptoTalk.Org - Get Paid for every Post!
I support this one. I am a support on the regulation of bitcoin by the government. It would be really cool for our country. Or the whole world rather to validate bitcoin as a form of currency itself. It would be fun to be in a cryptocurrency world. Wow it would be so awesome.

Regulating bitcoin defies the whole idea of it, which not being under the controll of goverments and banking systems, and if bitcoin gets regulated it will limite its potential and ut will become more or less a common thing then it will lose its value, right now bitcoin is a good thing because not everyone has it but if it becomes used by a lot of people that will dtop its value.

Bitcoin is being regulated in some countries now and its usage has spiked even more because people feel that with the regulation, it is easier to use it because the government has some say on how it is to be used. For some people, regulation is good but for those who prefer not to be bothered by the government, this is not a very good thing.

Bitcoin is money and money is power. Very few governments will support that move. Governments will never want a free flow of money in to their economy or in to the hands of their people if it's not regulated or generated by them. Also the bankers would not want that to happen either. So government will frame such regulations to curb using of bitcoin and not to promote that.

I think that's what decentralized means. That no one will regulate the cash flow or the generation of bitcoin. Only a worldwide cumulative force can do that. I am earning in bitcoin from various activities like trading  and signature campaigns and also I disclose my earnings in my annual income tax returns. I don't think I am doing anything wrong.

I don't want the government to regulate Bitcoin. I see people saying the government couldn't ban it even if they wanted to. Sorry guys, but yes it can. If the government decided to shut down all the exchanges there would be no where to send money. People would lose faith and the currency would collapse. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

Yes they can ban exchanges but it wont complete make bitcoin die easily since bitcoin doesnt really fully rely on those exchanges and thinking off on there are already lots of bitcoin which is circulating throughtout the entire network which means even though people cant buy bitcoin on exchanges but it can buy directly from other users which means possibilties of continuing its existence is very high.

Well, firstly it would take a long time for the government to be able to take control of bitcoin since it is a decentralised crypto currency and it would be impossible for the government to obtain access through a master key, since it might now even exist. The only way for the government to get control of bitcoin, would to brute force their way in.

I wouldn't mind if the government took over bitcoin, if they wouldn't do these things below:

1. Raise the transaction fees and/or make the blockchain even more congregated than it is now.
2. Add super high taxes to bitcoin, smaller taxes I wouldn't mind.
3. Attempt to change bitcoin in any way or attempt to copy it.
