For those wondering were Aricoin has been - our team wanted to go in two directions and with real-world jobs taking priority, the result of this was no progress. That time has come to an end as of today, August 28th 2019, marking 5 years since we went
viral on twitter as the first easy to use cryptocurrency. That week we had over
80,000 users join the Aricoin waiting list and share our story on Twitter. No other cryptocurrency at that time had ever reached as many non-tech users before us.
5 years has passed and all 80,000 users have still not been given their promised coins. Why? Well in short - bad luck with exchanges, we lost huge amounts as a team on Mintal, Cryptsy and Cryptopia respectively and nothing has been recovered - each was a big blow but we have slowly re-purchased amounts of Aricoin to cover the amount equal to the original premine of 3,226,494 ₳
This premine will be used to grow Aricoin, with priority given to 80,000 users who were each promised free Aricoin in return for supporting us. We will release a service in the coming months allowing these users to claim this.
Cryptocurrency has changed immeasurably in the last 5 years and we have taken a step back to watch the drama of new coins unfold, false promises, ico's, scams etc. Our team is happy we never had to go down the funding route as we are driven by passion and have no creative restrictions - of course the lack of funding brings major delays but we are here for the long haul. We strongly believe there is still a huge place for Aricoin in bringing unique and creative solutions to cryptocurrency - to make it much easier for the public to understand and use. We will be coming out with new services over the next few months.
We are incredibly proud to be one of the oldest coins with a simple mission that we feel all other coins are still failing to address.
