So another money grab where people attempt to sell their ridiculous cryptocurrency art for exorbitant prices all in the name of promoting the development of blockchain technology? Great. I don't believe that events like this actually do much to promote blockchain, as they show off all the worst aspects of it. Why not celebrate it as a technical achievement, rather than glorifying it with BS art?

I realize there are people who do not like art, you are obviously one of them. But what is wrong in art which promote BTC? It is just one more positive way of saying to world that BTC is here, and you can only watch artwork - people who have money might buy something they like and artist will earn some money, it is how world work these days.

Love to hear positive news like this.

How would that be positive news? people will only buy art and those who make art will profit from the sales of their works of art. this will not cause many people to invest in bitcoin.

This is not about how much will someone profit from this, the art exhibition is organized to celebrate the tenth birthday of BTC and this is not auction of artworks. There are artist who paint cats, dogs, landscapes, space or anything else that can be painted - so why it is strange that we have artists who make paintings with motive of BTC/blockchain/cryptocurrency?

Well, neither do I understand anything about such an art, all I see are a few figures and bitcoin, but nothing. Until now I wonder what people look at such pictures. but every person has his taste

for exorbitant prices

I agree and I think it's too exaggerated to charge these prices, I saw prices of more than $3,000 for a bitcoin painting. it was absurd. I would like some art expert to explain to me how the price of an art work is assessed

Love to hear positive news like this.

Hey guys. This isn't the first one in Paris. And if you want to know there is a boulevard Bitcoin in Paris, since 2016. You're jealous, yeah I know.
@znation Such event isn't for the purpose to promote Bitcoin "to recover" from anything. Another one only interested in Bitcoin's value but not in its adoption

A very nice and original way to give Bitcoin some publicity. I've heard the crypto community in France is big so hopefully they can spread the word so that this event can attract a lot of people.

It'll be great if we could see this as a tour around Europe, so they can promote cryptocurrencies and especially Bitcoin through art in the most popular cities.

Very interesting, if I lived a little bit closer to Paris, I'd probably go check it out.
Just checked the Artist page on their website and they've got some really interesting artists who are involved.

The first artist shown, Coin Artist aka Marguerite deCourcelle intrigues me:

Quote
Coin Artist is an American artist, a pioneer of Crypto Art. She is the first to have hidden Bitcoin in one of her works. Three years ago (in 2014), she made an abstract painting, which contained clues to discover about 5 Bitcoins. In February 2018, a winner finally found the riddle that allowed him to recover the funds (guessing that the flames on the board border contained a code). These 5 Bitcoins were worth around $ 45,470 at the time.

I wonder if she'll pull a stunt like that again Tongue

It is awesome to hear it. I think it would be tremendous event ever because it is probably becoming the first time event celebrating the existence of Bitcoin for decade. It would be more fantastic if followed by other countries held such this event in Paris. Spending Bitcoin directly for purchasing probably nice to do.

Wait, you're the dude who creates street art that accepts tips in Bitcoin, right? I've seen your work being discussed around here. Some people were even talking about how your QR could be altered into a different address lmfao. Either way, I'm a fan!

I hope your event goes well!

This is very nice event, promoting BTC using art is not something completely new - but I have not seen such approach personally so far. From what has been shown on Artist page I especially like painting The Legend of Satoshi Nakamoto and Last Bitcoin Supper, but that mural by Pascal Boyart is really looks great - and it is possible to give him donation by QR code on murals, great idea Smiley

It would be nice to see all this in Paris, but for me it is not feasible at this time - if someone visits this event post your experiences and some pictures.

Love to hear positive news like this, the rate at which bad news are dominating the cryptomedia is so discouraging. Events like this help in the wide adoption of cryptocurrency due to the exposure the platform provides. Just surf through the site and loved the artwork I saw.

Although OP i think topic is in the wrong broad, move it to  Meetups for better publicity.

I agree with you, much better is to move this to Meetups/OP just search Move button and follow posted link.

This is good story, it will be like gathering of the Thomases to come join this innovation of blockchain. All those who cast away bitcoin as bubble will always have a rethink when gatherings as this are organized regularly. I however expect a price spike from this invest, it might ride us to December proper.

Nice! Bitcoin-related art is just what I needed today. Even artists taking interest in Bitcoin can help the technology reach others. The different presentations of Bitcoin to the public opens more doors leading to crypto, its benefits, and what not. Heck, even the negative crypto news out there generates interest!

An incredible and exciting event that testifies that Bitcoin is becoming a part of modern culture in every sense. It can even be seen as a synonym for progress and financial independence.

This will attract a new type of crowd, even those that are not into crypto. With capital appreciation the value of these paintings and artwork will rise and they might be able to resell it for bitcoins again.
Yes, exactly. New Crowds and new expozure is really beneficial for bitcoin, so it looks to be a great event

This sounds great. Some of the work on the website is fantastic, some i have
seen before and some is new to me. It shows bitcoin has captured the imagination
of artists around the world (including myself). This exhibition will also increase
the awareness of others to bitcoin.
