Newbies can be easily lured with fake and wrong information as they have not gained adequate knowledge on bitcoin and on the forum. Hence, having an extensive research is crucial so that one can process carefully the information that he receives and ignore those that belong to too good to be true as they are certainly scams.

However, regardless how knowledgeable a  newbie becomes, he is not excuse from losses. Bitcoin is not just all about profits but losses as well, so newbies should also be smarter on how to minimize their losses when they decide to invest or trade with bitcoin.

How do you expect to get some bunch of worng informations in here?? That's somewhat impossible - especially from reputable members... That's exactly why criticism is welcomed in here....if you have any curiosity in mind, it doesn't take a single Bitcoin guru to make some proper explanations to you.... Everyone would do Same thing and in all, you'll be guided on how to maneuver.
For me, I don't really prefer doing any informal research... Except I wanna use that as a confirmation over what has been deliberated already
That's true and if it happened then another forum member will surely corrected it. People do make some research and that cause them to learn the information that is not the correct one that's what OP's point is. I already seen it where a forum member shows a chart of bitcoin price and said the year it was and yet it wasn't that year so a forum member have to correct it. If you ask me, that's already a wrong information and if newbie read it then it won't be good thing for them.

Totally agree! It's crucial to do your own research and sift through the noise in the crypto world. Bitcoin's popular but there's so much info out there, not all of it accurate. As a newbie, I'm learning to be careful about what to believe and what to question. Discussion and debate are good, but gotta watch out for misinformation. Thanks for highlighting this! Smiley

In conclusion, it's very important that we gather enough information by making our own research and also learning from others especially in a community like BTT. let's not be too quick to jumping into conclusion especially in topics that we are not familiar with. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
Always DYOR is a very important phrase that most crypto enthusiast uses after addressing issues concerning crypto market or probably giving out an advice that's crypto related, this isn't done because the information they have shared isn't informative enough but for the sake of clearity and better understand especially for clearity and intentionality in decisions that will help you take informed decisions while in the crypto space. Sometimes the mistakes people make are due to inadequate information or been misinformed but when you carry out your research well enough, you definitely take better decisions than you would have done earlier.

Learning from this forum is another very important and good source of information but then it still doesn't put out the place of DYOR as not all information here may be complete .

We sometimes come across altercation or counterattacks in the comment section of a particular post. we often see how crypto ethusiast tends to object to other people's ideology concerning Bitcoin. Certainly, one person is usually wrong during this every altercation. The tendency to keep arguing even when one party is wrong is as a result of the wrong information that has been processed overtime.

I have come to understand that whenever two people disagree about something, it doesn't mean one of them is wrong. It could be that they're both right but seeing things from different perspectives.
It's just like when a person sees a 6 while the person in the north sees a 9. That is why it's always important to read deeply and have a good understanding of things.

To be honest, newbies don't need to learn the deepest technical side of bitcoin. They just need to learn the fundamentals of it and also an experience on how to use it to become a bitcoin literate. This is much more easier compared back then where there are only few tutorials or guides in the internet.

I agree with this. When you know the basics it becomes easier for you to learn new stuff and that way it would be relatively easier to differentiate from what true or not. Understanding crypto comes with the time and effort you spend on it. You just get better at it the more you study it and have experience with it. This makes it possible to be able to know what is false and what is true.

The forum, and YouTube are the two platforms that helped me to gain knowledge not only on Bitcoin, but cryptocurrency in general.

TBH, the amount of false information back then was very small. All you can see at that time are kind of legit information that will help a newbie like me. Most of the time, I'm just watching documentaries because I will learn at least the basics at that time. Now, you can't even recognize which is true, and which are not true, and if you're a newbie, the chances of you getting mislead is kind of higher than in 2017. Gathering information would be beneficial if you're a newbie, but what if the information that you're gathering are not true? What if you're watching a video that's only created thru AI, and the contents of that video aren't true at all and worse, it may cause you to get scammed?

I don't know how to solve it TBH. Maybe just focusing on watching documentaries would be a better option to at least have a grasp on what is Bitcoin, and the basics of it. Over time, you will see new information as you browse online. Like what OP said, always be careful on the information we are getting because there might be a chance that the information that we are getting aren't true at all.
Youtube is full of crypto information that exceeded my expectation. If you like video type style content, Youtube would be the first platform that you should check since there's a really good crypto contents out there. If you like written format and like reading community opinions, this forum is the best place for you, second would be reddit in my opinion. Twitter or X is 50/50 for me because it is full of trolls and fake influencers but twitter is the most preferred social media of huge upcoming projects that's why I'm still using it. There are also good influencers on twitter that got my respect.

As someone who feels like enough time has passed before I got involved with Bitcoin, one thing I've learned from this forum is to be always ready to research, but aside being ready to research you have to be ready to unlearn a lot of things. I think this rule is a general rule in life. Some things you might believe to be correct might be wrong and when you find out that your view is wrong, be ready to change and learn the correct view.
Some things may be correct before, but not right now or they may be wrong in the past but correct now, that is the dynamism of technology.
We have to have an open mind in other to grow.

All new things will always have a level of adjustment in life so that things that are no longer suitable for use now due to the influence of technology must also be understood in as much detail as possible. So that we can sort out what is still needed and what is no longer needed, because if you only have the confidence and time to do all these things correctly without looking at the more important things to do, in the end you will also be very overwhelmed. So after research and time to do it, each person also needs to see which is more important for his or her own life.

Sadly, this misinformation can stick and become part of the person. Misinformation can sometimes be difficult to erase especially when we've become top members in the Bitcoin community.

God is great
When a none Bitcoin ethusiast is eager to learn about Bitcoin, it's is important for he/she to make proper research as a newbie. By making research, he/she would definitely come across online materials, videos and also people's opinion.
The information newbies get will determine if they will do well in the beginning of the journey of crypto or not, but beginners always feel their is nothing to find out about bitcoin before investing , they are so eager to invest bitcoin to make profit. Beginners always have the mindset of making money in Bitcoin without trying to know more about Bitcoin,  most times this mindset of making money quick in beginner could from the people who told them about bitcoin which they were only introduced about the profit of bitcoin.

It is important for newbies to get first hand information by making research to invest bitcoin in the right way to avoid mistakes that will lead to the lose of money.

That may happen to someone else if they didn't make some research and the source they are getting the information from is also not correct then yes, that person will surely learn the wrong information. This forum is also a source where you can learn many things about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I would advice newbies to start learning here in the forum and only do some research when having a hard time understanding a topic or looking for other explanation of the same topic.

This is very crucial for newbies to be careful and cautious on every information that talks about bitcoin and the whole crypto market. We all know that scammers are just waiting around the corner to feed us with wrong and invalid information, and if we believe on them, we will end up misleading and might only believe on their own stories and not actually those legit and reasonable information. DYOR is the best possible way to prevent not to fall on misleading information. We can always DYOR patiently so we won’t believe on lies and made up stories by scammers.

Winding down.
Newbies are more susceptible to fake and invalid information since they easily believe on what people say about bitcoin, and that’s not new for newbies since majority of them don’t have sufficient knowledge and most especially don’t have skills in the crypto market.

However, if they will put it in their mind first to DYOR every information that they receive, then the less chances that they will be scammed. Scammers have big eyes for newbies, but newbies can actually prevent from being fooled by these people if they do due diligence to study and learn the market patiently.

When I found this community, I decided to seek help from there with anything I needed about anything related to crypto I always found the answer and I rarely ask them because all you need to know is right here. So far, everything has been good, and other things that are needed for making explanations for the other people that are not aware of the Ponzi Scheme and other scams that are related to crypto are available here and I was lucky enough to read those before I explained it to people that are interested in investing in bitcoins.

It's either one is informed or deformed. That's a popular axiom out there. Those who put such up forget that one can still be informed but wrongly so (through misinformation). Not every information should be taken as truth. It doesn't matter the calibre of who is dishing the information. What should matter is the texture of information passed. Our various ranks here shouldn't be a prerequisite to guage our knowledge on all issues. Some of us are topic specific, especially given to our various fields of study and that's outside this forum. Anyone seeking to learn and be a better version of who they're before coming to this forum should verify all things said here. The only way to verify is search and research.

Goodnight, o_e_l_e_o 🌹
Apart from in Bitcoin, in order technologies there is always a great tendency of being misinformed. Every new technology does not present an easy opportunity to understand especially when it is totally new, I mean when it is not an old idea presented in a new way. In the case of Bitcoin which is someone technical, I do not actually blame people who misunderstand Bitcoin to an extent because it is not that easy to understand Bitcoin. Where my annoyance lies is that someone who does not understand bitcoin will proceed to teach other people the rubbish he understood thinking that it is the right thing. And because of the contradiction and misinformation about Bitcoin, many people are yet to embrace the industry.

Another thing that should be considered in order to curtail the level of misinformation about bitcoin is the place you learn Bitcoin. If you learn Bitcoin from the articles around the social media, you could be misled and before you realize you have already sinked the wrong information in your memory. But when you learn in an open forum like this, you will likely not be misinformed because any misinformation would be countered by another person and they entire public will actually know the truth. This I have said is one of the important factor that differentiates bitcoin forum from the media. Here, you will likely not go with any wrong information unless you are too lazy to research or engage in conversation.
