You would be better of just buying BTC, you will never get ROI

No, the 330 Mh usb sticks are maybe worth it if you can get them for $5. Otherwise you will never see RoI.

Its profitable if you mine sha256 altcoins...

What other coins uses sha256 ?

Zetacoin and Bountycoin for one...I made more than twice what I would make from just mining bitcoin, with zetacoin in the same time period and then selling it on a exchange.

Why do these things need to make money? They
are small, cool, run on a laptop and are a great promo for
bitcoin. I don't think my 6870 ever made profit  Tongue

hello

I have only 2 for fun, with current difficulty level they would'nt pay themselves even after 2 years.

If nothing is done the days of distributed minning for lots of individual will be over and bitcoin minning and control will be in hands of few big centers/corporations - Like real money.

i atually think you will make a small profit if you keep the devices going.. the main reason for for the Erupters is something to play with and if you have a few other ASIC devices to help boost earning.. i have 10GHs worth of BFL gear plus another 1GHs in USB erupters i currently on average earn about 0.1 BTC a day.. i used the erupters to get me up to 0.1 Cheesy

I calculated, it is not profitable more. The time of solo mining is going to past.

You might want to check out a profitability calculator. Unlikely to ROI but at least you are part of an interesting movement.

thats interesting, i think if i would get few of them now, they should pay back eventually, of course, difficulty is rising, but is usb erupter to weak to do this job?

If they sold for about $25 apiece you can get ROI in about 3 months.

Hello,

I just need some advice, many miners in this forum uses the ASICMINER USBs, considering the cost +/- 0.34 BTC per unit plus the USB hub etc. Still profitable? Will be a bit more than 1 BTC per 1 Gigahash.

In one side I see has immediate delivery in the other side per bigger hardware with unclear delivery date will have a lower cost Gh/s is for me really hard to determine once the thousands big ASIC units are delivered how much they can produce, may be finally is better to buy now what is available and get some coins now instead of waiting until everybody has more capacity and the estimated production per Gigahash drop.

Also saw many many people using the USBs but not sure if they are hobbyist or pros.

Feedback is welcomed.

At that price per GH/s the device will never break even let alone generate any profit

I am running with an Erupter. I not expecting to make my money back (absent a rise in the price of BTC).  I am just running it to have a vote in the network.

1 month so far has netted about .15 btc.  The difficulty is rising exponentially, so I expect that the rate will decrease accordingly.
