maybe in other words if the blockchain world reversed bitcoin as a newcomer could ETH be the first in the market I think it's not necessarily possible it will be occupied by other coins while bitcoin is still trying to move the price when many new coins are similar. this is just my assumption because in fact bitcoin is number one not because it appeared first and others followed but more than that, there is a thought, struggle and hope for a more efficient and reliable future

Let's have this fun conversation today 😁 assuming BTC is just entering the space today and was never released in 2009 will BTC succeed like what it has come to be today? Assuming ETH was the first coin and we have every other coins like doge and xrp then BTC now come out in 2022 what do you think will happen?

This is a futile discussion.

Yeah, but sometimes we love to hear this kind of speculation in the market, discussion here is not just above the price movement.

But if ETH was indeed the first coin to come out then I think it's quite clear that it would inherit the first mover advantage of BTC and become the primary coin in the cryptospace.

Being first in any field of innovation is extremely important and you get most of the adopters. But I highly doubt that ETH's smart contract capabilities would come out at that early stage without BTC laying the foundations of blockchain tech.

Being the prime mover has it's advantage, not just in crypto space, but in other market as well.

The only thing is that if this prime mover didn't sustain it's run, then somebody can take over. And so if bitcoin was born today, perhaps it will not be as popular and ETH will become the adopted crypto in the space.

BTC will be called alt if it's just getting released today and many won't take it so serious, it will just be another extra coin trying to claim decentralized engine and also price won't be huge like it is right now, all eye will still be on top altcoins and the first coin itself maybe ETH or other

I think that if Bitcoin appeared only in 2022, it would not as popular as it is now, it would never become the first cryptocurrency. It has too old and slow technologies, there are many blockchains that offer faster, cheaper, more scalable and more private solutions. What is more, it doesn't support smart-contracts so considering it just as a currency, it is unfashionable.

if bitcoin was not the first crypto coin and was just released today, what would happen to btc. the answer is simple, btc will just be a neglected altcoins. actually POW and bitcoin blockchain are old technologies that haven't gotten any major updates since they were first launched. this will make bitcoin less viable because many new blockchains released today have many advantages over bitcoin. call it privacy coins like monero, or cheaper blockchains like doge and many more. if new bitcoins were released today, btc would have a hard time entering the market and probably no one would know what bitcoin is.

Honestly no, the Bitcoin was just popular today because it was the first successful cryptocurrency and Ethereum probably would be the Bitcoin now. Well right now we don't have Ethereum if there's no Bitcoin so thanks to Bitcoin that's why we have all the cryptocurrency but going back to the topic I really don't think Bitcoin will be a hit just like now probably one of the cryptocurrency but not as popular as Bitcoin now.
bitcoin has been very popular for a long time, since 2017 it was more booming, with a tremendous increase that could attract big investors to the crypto world. with the progress of the crypto revolution from year to year until now it makes everyone, investors, global artists surprised that bitcoin can reach 68k within this year?

I think no one doubts that if Ethereum had been before Bitcoin, or even any of the top20 coins, Bitcoin would have gone unnoticed. Technology is moving forward, and unfortunately Bitcoin's development is very slow. Bitcoin is king precisely because it was the first, it is the most popular and recognizable, and most of all because it is the largest adoption. However, there is no doubt that one day it will change and some coin will replace him on the throne.

Hard to see bitcoin succeeding in this kind of space in my opinion.

and it might be a different crypto space just for the sake of argument. Maybe it will be dominated by dapp based crypto's and maybe there will be no payment method just like what bitcoin is design in the beginning. And with that, it will not get the needed attention and support and will not succeed in this time frame.

Nope.

I think Bitcoin will follow what the new projects are experiencing right now. Coming from the bottom, receiving many negatives regarding the project, many investors will question its flaws especially its transaction speed that is very slow compare to some altcoins right now and many more.

One thing more is that, there might be a chance that Bitcoin will be ignored and more people will just focus on Ethereum and some top coins out there. Just the transaction speed itself is enough for it to be ignored because we know that we want coins with fast transaction speed.

Assuming that happens, everything will not be the same and I can not imagine what will happen to cryptocurrency because maybe things will not be the same as now. It will change the whole cryptocurrency and maybe the name will not be cryptocurrency. But everything can be possible with your scenario and your assumption but we already know that BTC is the king while the ETH is like a queen in the cryptocurrency Grin

If Ethereum was the first ever blockchain launched, crypto market wouldn't be as popular as today. Remember the DAO hack? They would have the hardest time recovering from such an attack because the network already lost its credibility when it comes to security. Up to this day, I still think that Vitalik and the rest of the pioneers taking full advantage of the issues on Bitcoin is what helped them recover.

I guess still boils down as how Ethereum will be market by Vitalik and how early investors will treat bitcoin. And maybe there will be no forum like this that will put BTC on the map, who knows.

But if I will have my opinion, I think nothing will change, BTC will be market still as a micro-payment scheme, so everyone will be curious about it and will probably invest and trade and the rest will be history, (including Mt. Gox).

bitcoin had a unique features mate so there's no way  big investors and experts will let or ignore these kind of crypto in the market. It will explode explode as well like what happened to some promising projects nowadays if however bitcoin emerged this year.. See what happened to some trusted projects in the market. they got a highest rank because experts sees that they have a unique feature and very useful network. So how much more on bitcoin if they discover it? Of course it will become one of the trusted and legitimate coin in the market also. Probably below eth? Lol

Interesting thought experiment, while I am a strong believer in bitcoins, I think that if the roles were reversed than ETH would stay more successful. A new project coming out today has so much competition to gain attention and to be accepted by investors. A lot of the success from bitcoins comes from the fact that it was the first one and only coin. For years there was no real competition, and when people spoke about cryptos they always meant bitcoins. Now if ETH was in that position I don't think that bitcoins would be able to overtake ETH.

I don't really know if it would be successful as of now, probably not? since all the people are focusing on the Ethereum since it is the first cryptocurrency and it was the father of all other altcoins since most altcoins were made in Ethereum blockchain so I'm not sure whether the Bitcoin will reach $60k especially that it takes years before it reach that price probably just around $5-$10 just like its first price.

I think who ever comes first will be the first one succeed because they will be the prime movers. But there's also this factor like the enigma of Satoshi who I believed also added what bitcoin has become. People started to be curious as to what bitcoin is and what it can it bring. So I think it will still be on top if ever ETH comes first in the crypto space. BTC is going to overtake it and will still have the support of early crypto investors, in my opinion.
