heh, this is getting crazier day by day. But in other hand, market demand this kind of mobo, so Asus and Biostar build them.

Biostar only 12 slots and 1 psu. So meaning you need a psu adaptor, the asus can power 19 slots and has 3 psu connection, The asus way better than anything else.
true, this 3x psu connector on the motherboard is quite "interesting" feature.

I wonder if this will cause a re-think in rig design. For 13 you can easily do the 2 level stagger but with 16+ I wonder if a circular case might be better.

Lots of pros and cons to this board. I'll wait to see how others make out. Troubleshooting an 8 card rig is already a pain.

Asus has not claimed 19 gpus to work on this motherboard. They claimed via Twitter 16 only, So I guess 8 amd and 8 nvidia. So I guess they are talking about Windows 10 limitation.

I wonder how did they manage to get around the driver limitation of 8 GPUs per brand on Windows, if they even managed to do so. Linux is quite limited in overclocking/undervolting compared to Windows.

See that is the thing, we don't know if they achieved 19 gpus on windows.

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
it wont work my boy, most cpu support 16/32 pcie lines, and amd threadripper only support 64pcie lines, core i9 only 44 pcie lines

they use plx chips to split the lanes. entirely doable.

That is a good name. This is right now the best mining board there is at moment, wonder when they will launch it.

The biggest Pro that I see is : 3 x PSU Headers on the board mean you do not need to externally link the PSU's, you can directly connect them to the motherboard and they will all be started together by the motherboard.
That, and the reduced hardware costs and cheaper OS/monitoring service - only one copy of ethOS, SmOS MinerstatsOS needed so the fee is one third.

Ofcource I personally haven't even crossed 8 GPU per board for fear of stability, and to avoid multiple PSU's and the complexity they bring. But this makes me want to get one just to experiment with it Cheesy

Once again, would request our asian friends to keep their eyes peeled, and let us know when these show up in retail.

It can be done, but at what cost and software will need to evolve to support all the cards on one OS, and the multitude of other reasons (like one motherboard dies and lots of hash goes down).
I already use the -wd 0 command in claymore and if I see the hash rate drop in the monitor, then I know a GPU needs some attention (overclocked too high or dead).

Some of you guys are already using a second power supply and should test (on the 12+ rigs) if the second PSU is shut off - does the miner continue hashing away, and just the GPU's attached to the turned off second power supply stop working, or does it take the whole miner down?  If not, then I think eventually we will see 4u rack enclosures with just the GPU's and power supply in each, with long USB 3 cables routed down the rack to the motherboard in the bottom 4u enclosure that has the motherboard and multiple pci-e switching cards.  To big for my budget, but something to envision.

How will you design a lattice around the motherboard and the PSU's that are almost equidistant, since longer USB cables cause issues.
This is beyond practicality now.

How will you design a lattice around the motherboard and the PSU's that are almost equidistant, since longer USB cables cause issues.

The 3 ATX is most likely if you are using the old ribbon risers which require the +3.3V line.

If you connect the 3 ATX from different PSUs together it will kill all the PSUs.

Pretty sure that's the reasoning for the 3 ATXs.

I can tell that you are not familiar with Servers and there power supplies.  This mobo has a built in Power Distribution Board that will do a 1+1+1 PSU configuration so it will total the entire 3 PSU's for a single wattage!   

Server's have had this capability for a long time now.  You can run server PSU's as a 1 + 0 which means that one PSU is redundant in case one goes out or if you have a lot of devices or GPU's in the server you can run the PSU's as 1 + 1 which is additive for the wattage needed to run higher wattage.  Dell has a server that has 1 + 1 + 0 so it adds two PSU's and the third is redundant in case one fails.
