No opening bid, so this auction is void. For what it's worth, I'll be holding onto the last five (Nos. 6-10) for a while, with no immediate plans to start a new auction. (I'm very happy keeping them in my private collection!)

In the meantime, I'd like to offer a big, manhole cover-sized THANK YOU to everyone who supported this EPIC project, regardless of whether you purchased one or not. Your enthusiastic appreciation made it all worth while! Grin

THANK YOU AGAIN, EVERYONE!

Regards,
Chris @ The Bitcoin Penny Co.

Just a thought, it would probably be fairly cheap to have this object gold plated if you could find someone able to do a good job. I think it would take this product to the next level and make it more attractive to potential buyers. Something to consider if you haven’t already.

Thanks for the feedback, Og. While we won’t be gold plating these, we have kicked around the idea of letting the auction winners choose their own color of professional powder coat. The spectrum of colors is endless! In fact, we’ll be experimenting on our prototype next week — Metallic Copper! (The metallic colors cost 2x more, but we believe the coolness is worth it!) That’s right...a giant copper penny! Grin

I wouldn't have bid (and won)on the DIY pennies that where supposed to be not produced/limited edition but I believe to do "demand" you started mass producing them even know you started the auction for them you stated they would not be for sale again

I understand that you're frustrated, KY. However, I hope that you'll remember a few things.

First, you never bid on them. You never won them. They were never on auction. You simply bought them on sale like everyone else.

Second, these were never stated by any means to be a limited edition product. We only had a limited supply in stock. This was even explained to you by another customer of ours when you complained at the time...

These are not "Limited Edition" or "Special Edition" they are simply limited stock which means they can make more, at the time stock was limited like any other pace you buy stuff on planet earth.

However, as I said before, please feel free to refrain from bidding or buying from us, now and in the future. I won't hold it against you. If you believe that you were somehow wronged, and you wish to boycott any BP product from now on, then that is your right, and I respect it. I am sure that you'll find plenty of attractive crypto-collectibles to buy for fun and/or investment. There are many wonderful makers and products on this forum. Smiley

IMPORTANT: Please understand that we only minted one hundred (100) of these prototype DIY coins, and some of the coins were used for experiments, so we can only fill the first eight orders. CORRECTION: After packaging the first eight orders, we discovered that we used fewer coins than thought for our experiments, and the mint sent a few extra to replace any "factory seconds" coins. Therefore, these prototype coins are limited to a few more than 100, and we are able to fill a few more orders than originally advertised. Thank you.

You stated they where limited to around 100 and they where in fact where not

Until I sell all of the bitcoin penny products I own, I will continue to buy the SN, classic, and short rolls to match the ones I already have.

Killyou might be talking about the ones assembled, loaded and resold by OgNasty, which have been (and still are IIRC) limited in supply and might have been advertised as such.

Edit: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/the-2016-prototype-edition-bitcoin-nastypenny-1710379 thread for reference.

I am not talking about those, (The bitcoin OG pennies) I was actually going to donate one of the rolls I won in an auction for OG to create another bitcoin penny but he refrained from doing so, because he does not "agree with their business practices"

Have you always not adjusted your items prices in BTC when BTC inflates/deflates. Because when you first took reservations for these BTC was way cheaper and the results of the first auction, with only one bid I think these are priced too high

What kind of question is this especially coming from you.  While I see you are back (who let you out i need their phone number for re-adjustment)what the f do you have in questioning a masterpiece that has been made.  You obviously won't be buying one so why do you even care

This guy is just mentally challenged. Sorry, but it's true, otherwise it's two people on the 2 accounts (killyou72/killyou73), which both seem to be scamming the same sig campaign. Tongue

I dont think its takes a gensis, or a quickseller to determine that I am obliviously involved in two accounts on the same signature campaign, but I obviously got permission to be enrolled on two accounts... Do you really think a campaign manager such as lutpin would un-knowingly allow two linked accounts to be in the same signature campaign?!

Yes, we've traditionally adjusted the prices of our standard products to reflect increases/decreases in BTC-USD value. However, this is a special project, and not one of our standard products. We promised our pre-order customers that we would auction the final six manhole covers at a minimum opening bid of 1 BTC, and we plan to keep our word on that 1 BTC minimum opening bid. Even if it means keeping some of these in stock a while longer.

Personally, I do, whole-heartedly, believe that these physical bitcoin art pieces are worth at least 1 BTC each. In the near future, these will be a very memorable part of crypto-collectibles history, and the resale/flip value will be much greater than the mere 1 BTC, in my opinion.

Please feel free to refrain from bidding if you feel otherwise.

Chris

Maybe MJ needs 5 manhole covers. Who knows

For all we know he could be building his own private road. He'll certainly need a few manhole covers then Grin

@killyou - Even if BitcoinPenny wanted to lower the price to make it more "affordable", it would not be fair at all to anyone else who has gone and pre-ordered one and paid the full price of 1 BTC.

The price is the price, and in this case the fiat value has nothing to do with it. I tend to agree that something like this is worth the BTC. Its a total one off, and for someone wanting one of these in their collection badly enough, they will be prepared to pay the asking price.

This is way outside my league, however, I wonder for how much this puppy is worth. Good luck everyone!

I love it, but I Have to be honest - if I spent 1 btc on a manhole cover, I'm pretty sure my wife would literally kill me with it.  Grin

Of course, that doesn't mean I don't love it though, great job CJB! Cheesy

Introducing the NEW Bitcoin Penny™ MANHOLE COVER Physical Bitcoin!

This MONSTER record-breaking physical bitcoin was this year's TOP SECRET summer project, and after many long months of development and production, it's finally completed!

ABOUT THE PROJECT
