can we keep bids to the thread and not via PM? It's hard enough participating in an auction by thread when you don't know what's going on via PM channels...

I totally agree. Auctions should state whether they will allow proxy bids in the initial post.

I understand your frustration, but new users don't have permissions to post here.

My previous experience is that PM bids are rare (typically representing less than 2% of all bids), and usually get outbid anyway. No private bid should be considered valid unless I relay it here.
