Goodbye, Z.
The winners are:

Unit A: Lutpin at 0.67 BTC
Unit B: ediston at 1.16 BTC

Congratulations to the winners! Even though I'm not particularily familiar with these markets, I believed these coins would go for at least a 50% premium of the face value, so I honestly believe the winners did a good deal on this one
I'm pretty sure most collectors aren't very familiar with the market for these specific coins either.
While we see sales for Cas/Lealana/BTCC coins daily, those here only come up on the market every now and then.
They're hard to price if you don't keep up with everything all the time.
That being said, I gotta agree, those were a good deal at going rates.

Is there anyway to be sure that these are indeed loaded? I don't see any firstbits on the coin itself nor a list of sales in the OP of the original sales thread. I'm not saying that you are trying to cheat someone, but who knows, maybe they never got loaded in the first place?

The address is engraved on the face of the coin, but in the pic above it is scratched out. (To avoid dusting I guess)

Can you please send a picture of your coin in pm ?

Unit B (1.0 BTC): 1.16 BTC

Please send pictures with address on the 1.0 BTC coin

Thanks
Edi

As stated earlier, I will send uncensored pictures to the winner of the auction. In the meantime, I've sent these pictures to minerjones who has confirmed that the coins pictured indeed are loaded with 0.5 and 1.0 BTC respectively.

I'm surprised the bidding isn't more competitive on these. These are great coins. Unlike some, they're not just Casascius clones -- arashd came up with refreshing new designs, in a new size, with truly excellent production values. That's saying something, in a niche market where sometimes "limited edition" basically underscores how home-made a thing is. Plus, laser engraved public & private keys, with matching QR codes! Even the protective stickers followed a different model -- not the regular holograms, but more of a multi-layer, scratch-off kind of thing.

So I guess what I'm wondering is why Casascius coins seem, so far, to command more interest, when those are so much more common. These are much rarer, and should command a premium. And they deserve it.

I am *guessing* that it has something to do with trust -- because these are less well known, people are slower to bite? Well, for what it's worth, as someone with the dubious distinction of having opened a few Nolacoins in the past, I had no issue whatsoever redeeming them -- and that is NOT always the case. I won't name names, but sometimes... stuff. With Nolacoin, keys were correct, the QR codes worked, and arashd earned my trust.

I'm not plugging my blog, but for what it's worth, I wrote about Nolacoin a few years back in more detail, and I think what I wrote is still relevant: http://object2212.com/?p=55

Thank you for the write up! They are indeed very beautiful coins, and I honestly expected them to go for a far higher premium (after receiving several inbox bids higher than the public bids in this auction thread). But I will of course honor this auction no matter the ending price Smiley There is however some hours left, so hopefully the bidding will pick up!

I've just received a few peeled Nolacoins and they are beautiful coins.  To laser engrave the public address on the front and for the public QR address to be also laser engraved is a work of art.  I'm so tempted....

The creator sold buyer-funded coins later on, but those were etched as "buyer-funded" on the front of the coin. There's no reason to think these aren't funded, especially if the seller is willing to share the addresses (maybe upon request, via PM?).

Yes, as mentioned in OP I will gladly share an uncesored picture with the public key to the winner of the auction. The coins are seller-funded.

Thanks a lot! I still don't know how to do that  Grin

Is there anyway to be sure that these are indeed loaded? I don't see any firstbits on the coin itself nor a list of sales in the OP of the original sales thread. I'm not saying that you are trying to cheat someone, but who knows, maybe they never got loaded in the first place?

I don't know how you can make sure they are loaded without scratching the hologram. I will reveal the public key, which shows that the coin was indeed loaded back in 2014, but I understand it's no proof per say. I don't think the seller used firstbits. If you have any suggestions as to how I can prove the coin is funded I'm all ears!

EDIT2: The auction is now closed!

EDIT: The auction is now opened again for 24 hours. The new end time is 13:00 EDT, Tuesday 20 of June 2017
https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/new-york
The same conditions as stated earlier still applies.

Due to the great interest after my price check for these coins (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/price-check-05-1-btc-nolacoin-1959533), I've decided to hold my first auction. Let's price check these coins!
Up for bid is one 0.5 and one 1.0 BTC funded 2014 Bitcoin Exchange of New Orleans (NOLA) coin.

Original sales thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/nolacoincom-is-back-051-3btc-physical-coin-laser-engraved-global-shipping-400224

The starting price for each of the coins will be equal to the original sales price at:

Unit A (0.5 BTC): 0.53 BTC
Unit B (1.0 BTC): 1.04 BTC

Bid increments: .01 BTC

End time: Mon. 19 of June 2017 at 11.00 EDT (7 days from this post)
https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/new-york

Sniping: Last-minute bids will cause the auction end time to be extended so that the auction ends 45 minutes after the last bid. It will apply to both coins, so, if someone bids for coin A, you will still be able to bid for another 45 minutes for coin B.

Shipping: Shipping of registered mail will be around 0.01 BTC to most countries. I ship from northern europe.

If the auction winner(s) are US residents I recommend using minerjones reshipping service, for extra protection for both me as a new seller as well as for the buyer. I also suggest using minerjones as escrow.

Public key will be revealed upon request from auction winner(s).
