This went for a surprisingly high premium, considering bitcoin price in relative all time high.

Yes and no. Historical collectibles like this, especially loaded with lower denominations, have been selling for multiples of their loading quite a bit - just not over the recent 12 or so months.
I actually think it's not that big of a premium given rarity, age and the fact it's CIs first Bitcoin piece.

Kudos and congratulations to both auctioneer and winner.

Congrats from me, too to tldr-hodl on this nice piece of collectible history.

I had a few CI coins and I realized that often the laser-marked serial is either very hard to read, or had degraded beyond recognition - Not to say this had one, I have no idea, but I did have a coin where I brought it up in the sales thread, just can't find where/when at the moment as there were so many.  Tongue

Edit maybe Pedro himself can chime in here about this, IDK. @CryptoImperator Huh

Sorry if this is a dumb question, was this a coin/private key created by the creator of the coin or is it a DIY?

Based on the way the firstbits look in the hologram's window, I'd say it was legit from CI. Wink

Yes, the first bits appear to be genuine.
The coin had a late load date though in 2016: https://mempool.space/address/1Kh8qzin5kFVn6y8wePhNBQsrdmKEhcTK4
Might have been when the coin sold or was confirmed received by the original owner, as CI was noted to load coins after customer reception.

I know there has been some talk of certain CI coins showing first-bits degradation over the years. Seemingly, may be just dependent on said coin/paper....
And have not heard of the lasered numbering showing signs of degradation, but anything is possible Cheesy
As long as the first-bits are readable, CI has released all addresses for their coins except the Rocket silvers, which most addresses are in the Master Maker Thread here:

Pretty cool idea to include an article from the coin encyclopedia.
Is this the unserialized version then or if not, which serial does this one have? In any case, great piece of history.

I do believe unserialized.

Not a dumb question. Coin was funded by the maker.
