they are using a minikey, not a regular private key, so you can't just do a regular wallet import.

That's a wrap! Thank you VernDog for your winning bid. I will send a pm

Also, Thanks to everyone that added details about Antaui World Coins. I saw a comment on the Antaui site that claimed something like, 'We can stop making alt coins now, World Coin is all we need.' That kind of aged like milk, but I will say the Antaui World Coin coin, is a nice little piece of history.

Steeley

I was never one to make comments like that, but we actually got close.  I was a late-comer to a small team that was building basically a competitor to somewhat new Coinbase.  Everything was working and we had bank transfers and all we needed.  I was brought on to actually write a coin-to-coin exchange.

Again, I still can't go into details, legally, but we had to shut the company down, immediately days before it launched.  Had that not happened, I think WDC would still be a strong coin.  In fact, we were all major players in the WDC space and I also had a strong design outline to make WDC trim the block chain and allow for headless wallets.   Had we succeeded, the crypto world today could have looked quite different.  But, old crypto history is also filled with a lot of stories like that one so they don't mean much either.

Congrats on the sale!  .007 isn't bad at all. Also, your original post says 17:00EST, and it's 16:24.  You should still have about 30 minutes, no?

Thanks again for adding to the info on Antaui. Sorry to hear WDC didn't reach it's potential. World Coin was certainly a great name. I have been a part of a couple of ventures with a ton of promise that just could not make it over for various reasons. Man, those still sting.

Also, I think we ended correctly. 5:00 Eastern or 17:00, plus 15 minutes due to bids in the waning minutes.

I had a couple of conversations with forum members about Antaui's keys. This is all anecdotal since they do not have a website or since no literature from them exists that I have seen; however, all of these coins seem to have been preloaded with 5 WDC. No public keys were issued. So, owners could only peel and redeem using the private key. That's the theory until someone offers up better verified info.

as an fyi - the WDC QT wallet does not recognize the private key on the peeled coin that I have - says "Invalid private key encoding (code -5)"

The Antaui key appears to be compressed as it less than half the length of the keys I have generated from the QT wallet.

Mopar, I am glad you looked under the holo to help us figure out how they worked. Evidently those code were mini keys that required a decrypt program. Here is a quote from the website:

In order to redeem the coins, you'll need a program that has been modified from the bitcoin version to decrypt private "minikeys." I'll be posting that in the coming days. Thanks! gudmunsn

Definitely a nice coin and a valuable part of physical bitcoin history. Sad I couldn't add it to the collection this time. Congrats Vern

Here's a link to a post in that thread where Gudmunson provided a list of addresses to the coins.

I also reached out to an ooooold crypto buddy.  There's a small chance he might still have the app or a custom script to decrypt the keys on the back.  I'll post back here if he ever responds.

Here's the original [ANN] from the now defunct Worldcoin Forum page, cached on the wayback machine.

Thank you. Web.archive is a new find for me. Very cool site. I think we shoudl create a thread that links the original websites to all the coins.

Sorry, I was just re-reading that thread because I've not read through it since, well, 2014.  One user posted their price (in WDC) which was 82 WDC each.  That might not sound like much but in late-2013, that was about $40/each.

Would be interesting to see if you are willing to add a photo?
