They hold this power. Doesn't mean they need to use it. They hold to power to reform the federal reserve. To audit the federal reserve. To make the federal reserve accountable to the American people.

Abolishing the Fed will only serve to bring chaos to the whole money system. However, there will be worse chaos if the Fed Ponzi fails as all Ponzi's do.

The Fed is still independent of the President and of congress,

Congress can abolish the federal reserve if they want. They hold the utmost power in the USA.

Don't underestimate the power of congress.

But why? What would be the reasoning behind eliminating the Fed? What have they done to deserve such sanction?

Do I think the Fed should do a better job of explaining the monetary policy that they enact? Yes. They do a horrible job doing so, and because of that the people think they have ulterior motives when they do things. But I think if they were to explain things to the American people, that would HELP a ton.

Bullshit.

> On November 2, 2017, President Donald Trump nominated Powell to serve as the Chair of the Federal Reserve.

Ahaha, appoints the guy. Totally not Trump's fault. /s

Man, how can you appoint someone and then blame them. Must be a shit at picking people. Then again, it's pretty obvious Trump's an idiot.

Auditing the fed is something the right wing has wanted for decades. Need to reconcile all the money.

I mean there's isn't much someone could do when they're appointing a fed chair. The Fed is still independent of the President and of congress, which means that once they're nominated the President isn't able to fire you for not following 'their policies' as the policies of the Fed are supposed to be above politics and be long term and for the betterment of the nation.

Trump hates Powell because Powell won't bend the knee and drop rates further so the economy has cheap loans to continue to boom. Pretty much Trump saying he wants some artificial growth for his campaign so he can say he did that and try to win again with a great economy.

The Fed doesn't need to be audited. Trump is putting things in place that will reduce or destroy the Fed. Auditing will simply be a waste of time.

Cool

Fake news!

Trump appointed failure of a federal reserve leadership.

The crazy bit is after 2 years, people still support this asshat Wink

Must be all that propaganda they consume.

I don't even know what you're spewing here. Trump hates his current appointment to the Fed Reserve and has called for him to resign, has contacted his WH counsel to see if he can fire him, and so on and so forth.

If you want to expand the scope of audits or to put the audits into the hands of private independent people then so be it. But the Fed is currently audited, and I've said that time and time again here.

Auditing the FED isn't what counts. What counts is how many people who are going to freely continue using their Ponzi fiat.

https://berniesanders.com/issues/real-wall-street-reform/

As part of Bernie Sanders' Wall Street Reform, it includes auditing the federal reserve.

Quote
Audit the Federal Reserve and make it a more democratic institution so that it becomes responsive to the needs of ordinary Americans, not just the billionaires on Wall Street.

This is the sick truth and it is very real that the one who enjoys the benefits from the fed are the elites. I believe auditing the federal reserve is one of the best way to remove the overpdoruction of the US dollars. The elites are printing so much money and is manipulating everyone using that resources. Its time to introduce blockchain to the federal system so that the printing of the us dollars will be monitored. Also using blockchain technology on the government funds will also make the government projects more transparent and we can be sure that ordinary citizens will enjoy the benefits coming from the taxes they paid to the government through sufficient and effective delivery welfare and services.

As part of Bernie Sanders' Wall Street Reform...

I would echo the idea that Ron Paul’s name is the one that should be attached to all things “audit the Fed.”

I'm assuming that the only reason that Bernie is going to continue to echo this (alongside some people in the GOP) is because they want Congress to have more control over monetary policy. Not something that I would want to support due to the short term view that most politicians focus on.

Ah my bad. Honest mistake -- read that wrong.

But the rest of what I put below stands.

None of what you provided excludes the point I was making. The Fed does all kinds of stuff in complete darkness. The "audit" you describe is a sham and superficial at best.

What is your evidence or proof that this is 'superficial' or a 'sham'

I'd understand if your argument was that you want congress to have more control over the Fed. That's something that at least is understandable and could be helpful in certain circumstances -- though horrible in others when politicians want short term growth just to get reelected and they start using monetary policy to get that.

Ah. So you're now going to resort to personal attacks on my field of study and myself in order to push your false claim.

The Fed is probably one of the most scrutinized agencies in the US and they are under audit from themselves, from the GAO, and from third party auditors.

But I'm going to entertain your line of thinking for a moment. What do you think is going to be found in 'full audit of the fed'? What do you think they're hiding?

If 'audit the fed' means that you want Congress/ The President to have more control over the fed -- then okay, that's at least something that has a lot more substance then 'audit the fed'

I didn't make a personal attack. I said you should be embarrassed to be so uninformed. That is an observation of your lack of knowledge on a subject that is directly within your field of study, and rightly should be a source of shame. It is not an attack on your character.

As I already explained the time for the fed audit to be useful has long since passed, but the fact is they are putting the USA into massive amounts of debt by propping up other nations/banks/currencies, that is one major thing that would be exposed. I am not even advocating for an audit, I am simply pointing out it is really not happening and the fraud happening in the darkness is of globally historic proportions.

What do you mean the time for the Fed to be  useful has passed? The fed ensures that we have stable financial markets.

It's already audited and it's not about honesty. It's about throwing red meat to Fed conspiracy theorists on the far right and far left.

Why should a branch of government that runs up debt and couldn't pass a budget for years be allowed to politicize and/or control the money supply? That's a recipe for disaster.

The statement from their most recent meeting is available. So are the minutes. The Fed holds a press conference after every meeting.

Full transcripts of their past meetings are available.

Their balance sheet is available. Their audited financial statements are available.

Their short-term projections of economic variables are available.

Their statement on medium-term strategy is available.

Their statement on longer-term strategy is available.

Even some of their internal forecasting models are available.

The Fed chair meets with Congress twice per year and Fed officials provide official remarks from time to time. Senior Fed officials openly discuss policy options in speeches.

Virtually none of that information was public just twenty years ago.

What else do you desire?

"As I already explained the time for the fed audit to be useful has long since passed"

Common man, you are literally changing my words now.
