One of my power supplies is suddenly no longer is powering up, and  I have just tried a different power cord however it is still failing to spin the fan and power up.

Sounds like a dead PSU to me. Your A741 could have been trying to pull more than what your Corsair PSU could handle. That may also explain why your A741 has been so temperamental thus far — I'm guessing that your A741's left board has much higher power requirements than its right board.

It'd be best to grab a server-grade PSU kit going forward. They're able to perform much closer to their rated specifications than conventional PSUs, generally have much better efficiency, and are more likely to be able to handle the A741's spikes in power draw. They're also better able to run continuously under heavy load; conventional PSUs are generally not designed for sustained, continuous use.

I think so too. I've started an RMA with corsair since its an almost new power supply and i'll start looking to get a more powerful replacement once that is sorted.

Cheers all and thanks for the help

What psu exactly ? [...]

I was using 2 Corsair 750M power supplies, one for each board.

Just a moment ago, the miner was powering up and then suddenly stopped. One of my power supplies is suddenly no longer is powering up, and  I have just tried a different power cord however it is still failing to spin the fan and power up.

Just looking at the cgminer log and comparing with an older post on the forum, mine says this:

Quote
Freq[195.00]

While someone else's from here (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/avalon-741-hashing-at-low-speed-001-btc-reward-2353795) was this:

Quote
Freq[615.17]

Is this possibly why i am getting such a low hashrate?

Hi,

What psu exactly ? We have experienced this when customers used PSU's out of specs.  The 6 pin connectors deliver 12V. A cheap PSU delivers way less than the rating on the sticker for 12V.

That's why canaan offers 1600 or 1800W servergrade PSU's with only 12V+ outputs.. Can't tell you anything regarding this unless you post a log over 24hours with a PSU which has specs rated for the 741.

And yes 1 hashboard should hash 50%. It will light red but work. But this only works if you connect 1 PSU to 1 hashboard and leave the other one completely disconnected. If the voltage of your PSU drops too hard, the miner will run with lower freq = lower hashrate.

Also please don't leave any 6pin's disconnected on one board. that can damage the board.

regards.

Hmm, then I think your best bet would be to contact Canaan's support team directly, as I have no further troubleshooting steps to add.

(You may have to wait until Canaan gets their website back online. It appears to be down as I write this.)

Alright, cheers for the help.

I'll contact the cryptouniverse shop first to see what they can do. Seems very odd that this is happening.

Try filling up all three pool options. Suggestion:

Pool 1: stratum+tcp://pool.ckpool.org:3333
Pool 2: stratum+tcp://depool.ckpool.org:3333
Pool 3: stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333

Make sure the password fields are not left blank.

If that doesn't work, then with all three pool options still occupied, try running your A741 with --avalon7-smart-speed 0 in More options under CGMiner Configuration.

I've updated the settings. It appears that the left board gets a PG of 3, making it power up and down continuously. Whereas the right board, on the same psu gets a PG of 12 and only hashes at ~1.4TH

Try upgrading your MM firmware to version 7411706-3e3ab60.

After upgrading the MM firmware, it's only detecting the miner for a few seconds while powering up and down the fans, not hashing at all.

Ok, it is now powered by the left board and is having worse issues. It's powering up and down continuously with the the PG on 3, despite using the same power supply as before.

Try powering the left board. Mine worked fine on the left hash board.
The 12 is normal when only supplying power to one hash board.

Ok, ill swap it over and see if it changes.

Don,t know if relevant but your PG (Powergood) is showing 12
Last time mine showed that it was because one of the power supplies had died.
Mine normally shows 15

soz should have read your post better. Which hashing board powered left one next to auc3 connector or right side.

The right board is currently the one powered up. And i'll check my psu again

check if your fan is working!

Fan checked and is working correctly, here's my CGMiner status with it still mining at only ~1.4TH

Is this normal?

I don't know if it is because of my smartphone, but those pictures were really blurry, I couldn't figure out anything.

They do seem very blurry, not sure why. Here they are again:
