Looks like it's a power over efficiency model. I wonder if it's something they can adjust through firmware?

I see the first test was voltage-level- -1

And the second was voltage-level-offset -2

if you look here it is obvious my settings are not underclocking the gear.

With the 841 I'm running, when it's above 30C temperatures using the offset command is borderline shutdown? Did you try just the level -2 option?

Were you seeing any change with any of the voltage adjustments from baseline?

It would be a shame to lose that control, as it was a life saver with the 841.

That sounds quite horrible. Have you tried an 841 on the same PSU? I wonder how 851 compares to 841 in the exact same conditions.

i did extensive testing and got much better efficiency with the 841s

Less hash but good numbers.

So far two psus show bad numbers.

I moved it to a warmer space.
I set it up with a hp 2450 gold psu.
It hashes well at over 14200
It pulls more then 1850 watts

I have -2 power setting.

The room is hot 90 f

I will power off as temps on gear are too hot

all indications show that the 1600w sorcerer psu isnt enough for the Avalon 851s, best to buy 1800w psu from now on!  Even Bitmain has stopped selling 1600w psu.

1550 seems high or is just my novice assumption?

actually I am getting worse numbers then that

while the 14,500 hash is nice I got numbers over 1600 watts in a 83f room

I moved it to a hotter room for more testing

I will need to play with settings it will take more then a day to get a feel for what it really does.

My guess is that his RasPi is DOA. 2 out of 3 that I've gotten last month (both branded Avalon ones from Blokforge, separate orders) were dead. In 1 the CPU instantly got literally smokin' hot, the 2nd no signs of life at all. BF of course promptly replaced both.

I don't know if it is dead but I am going to return the 3b+

I ran one 851 overnight

so it runs fine in an 83f room  but  watts are

1550  for 14500 hash

this is using a myrig psu

I have many other psu's  and will start a test today   using the gold rated 2450 watt hp next

I think I will try another watts meter

Ok, thanks for testing it out!

So it's better to buy the original Pi 3 if you want to be absolutely sure that it works.

the plain model 3b came and boots

the model 3b+  does not

so either my rasp pi 3b+ is a dud or the 6/28 firmware works on model 3 only.

next step is firing up unit.

she is working yeah baby.

Settings are a slight voltage down clock

and this is a myrig psu

Yeah, I think that the Plus version should be compatible with the original Rasp Pi 3 B.

Don’t know cause I purchased a rasp pi 3b+

So no software for that one just the rasp pi 3.

I will order a 3 tonight

All of the firmware for previous models has same naming convention and works on B+ for me. This is next test version:
