There is a youtube video of a batch 2 Avalon ASIC being unpackaged:

With that said, it seems unlikely that you'd get a good deal on one on ebay. More than likely they're being resold at a much higher price.

Yeah, big gamble with BFL. Personally I wouldn't risk it. By the time you get the system, the diff may be so high that it's not worth it.

Agreed 100%.

Looking into escrow.com simply with USD as it looks like it will be very difficult for me to get enough BTC to buy the unit.

Hoping that it will break-even (at least at current prices) before becoming ineffective.

Bit of a gamble... but one can never come out ahead without some risk !

The seller wants to take payment in BTC but I do not have any.

What is the easiest and most secure way to buy bigger amounts of BTC ?
Buy a rig and mine ;-)

Haha, that is what I am trying to buy.

Currently I do mine on my computer right now but it sure would take a while to get enough BTC on just that  Grin

The seller has 3000+ feedback on e-bay so seems okay ; but mostly low value items.

I am talking to John K about his escrow service ; I imagine that would be the only real way to ensure it is legitimate.

With 3000+ feedback, I'd say you would be safe enough but escrow cant hurt.

I have also heard from a reliable source that Batch 2's are shipping today.

Just make sure the seller is legit. See if he/she has a bitcoin talk account and have a few chats with him before you click buy!
