I missed the Malta by a whisker Sad Did anyone snag one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202036

I think I was able to pre-ordered one today here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CJ4KALE/

not sure if it's identical...  The pre-order option disappeared quickly though and now you can't order on amazon anymore... hopefully they will ship it quickly.

2 reasons come to mind:

1. not in a hurry.
2. if you are getting it delivered to a commercial address in a large metropolitan area/city in the US, it will take UPS 2 days to get it to you even if you choose the 4-7 saver...

and there's probably a few more.

You've already made an ass out of yourself by making assumptions.  Are you 13 yrs old or something (mentally and/or physically)?  This thread is about the card being in stock.  where does it promote it for mining?  Oh, that's right, you had to spew your opinion about that...

Last time I checked this was the hardware sub forum in the mining forum, any hardware brought up here will be assumed to be used for mining. When considering mining gear cost and efficiency is everything, I started with ASKING why anyone should bother with them considering their cost/effiency is so bad. If someone is prepared to pay almost 2x as much for the same hash rate and throwing "jealous much?" comments around that kind of puts them under my definition of an idiot.

Nobody gives a shit about what YOU would choose (or not) for mining.  that's your business.  bringing in a label of "stupidity" is an unnecessary self-critique tool for you to express on these forums, but perhaps it helps you operate in your daily life.

Maybe some of them should and they could increase their profits, if I make twice as much as they do while spending the same amount of money I couldn't give a shit if they listen or not tbh, their loss.

Aaand it's gone.  Grin (back out of stock)

Also, a 7990 might not be the cheapest option per Kh, however I imagine they'll hold their value longer than the 7950 and 7970 series.

That and the potential of getting 3x cards/rig in a rack would be the only things speaking in it's favor. Then again 3 of them in 1 enclosure is still a pain to cool unless you use WC.

jealous much?

No need to be jealous of stupidity, Why would I choose 1x7990 over 4x7950 for mining? or even gaming since trifire fixes a lot of the micro stuttering issues. If I decide to buy more 79xx cards over the 16x7950s I already got, it definitely wont be 7990s, they just makes no sense what so ever, if they were to cost less than 2x of a 7970 like the 5970 did vs the 5870 at one point then we can start talking.

The only card in the high end segment that makes sense is the GTX Titan, it fills a function as the actual fastest single card. Both the gtx 690 and hd7990 are just for fools as long as they cost more than 2x of what a single card costs.

Why bother with them though? I can't come up with any reason I would use a 7990 over 2 7970s for mining. 5970s had some merit since it was easier to build high density rigs when a single 5870 only pulled 150W or less. But considering how well 7970s OC and how much power they take up when you do, what exactly is the point of using a 7990? Also add the fact that the 79xx cards have problems with leakage increasing (A LOT) at moderately high temps 70-75C+ and it becomes even less attractive.

If someone says "better binned chips" just no, go get 3x 7950s (almost 4).

because I can... and it may not be used for mining only, did you consider that?  what people do is their business.

7990 is almost as bad from a gaming perspective due to micro stuttering, just saying (even worse than 7970 in crossfire due to shit drivers atm). Also how does using your 7990 for other things make it better than 2x7970? 7990 fills no other market segment than for those who must have the best "single" card for bragging rights, been the same with all dual cards.

But if you want your 2x7970 cramped on the same PCB while paying more, getting a hotter card, worse driver support, worse OC, sure go ahead, it is fully within your right. It is also within my right to mock anyone that does buy one, gotta love freedom!
