Sorry for the delay in posting!

We recently rolled out a manual cashout system. If you login to Backslash, you'll be able to submit a Bitcoin address which we'll use to send you your remaining balances.

We're in the process of consolidating and auditing our user's balances, and we'll issue the payouts shortly.

Thanks for being patient.

Wow, I was going to say that this looks like inputs.io v2.0 but it looks like I didn't even get the chance to before it stopped working. Nice.

Day 4, I wonder if this message will ever go away:

"We're experiencing a spike in traffic and we've exceeded our capacity for on-blockchain transactions. Please try sending your payment again in a little while. We're sorry for the inconvenience."

Maybe just wait till the final days when most have withdrawn.
The traffic will subside..

Goodbye backlash Sad

Another casualty of economic totalitarianism.

Quote from: email from [email protected], Subject: Backslash - Backslash is shutting down
Dear thebutterzone,

Over the past year, we worked very hard to build the easiest way to send and receive Bitcoin. We learned a ton, received some amazing feedback, and had a lot of fun along the way. We’re very sad, but under the current circumstances, we have made the difficult decision to cease operations. Backslash will officially close its doors on September 14th.

As a non-funded, California-based, Bitcoin wallet service, we do not have the resources to comply with the ever-changing regulation. If we continued operating without investing a lot of time and money into our compliance program, we could quickly become an illegal operation.

As we wind things down, will do our best to make sure everyone can withdraw the entirety of their funds in a timely manner.

If you have any questions, or if you’d like to learn more about our decision, please reply to this email.

Co-founder, Backslash

How to withdraw your funds:

Backslash will remain operational until September 14th. You will be able to withdraw your funds by sending a payment to an external Bitcoin address.

After September 14th, Backslash will be no longer be operational, but you will still be able to withdraw your funds. All users will still be able to login and specify a Bitcoin address to withdraw their funds.

If you need to create a new Bitcoin wallet, please refer to this website: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Announcing payment links

Every Backslash user can now receive payments through their own payment link. It’s way easier than digging up a Bitcoin address, copying it, and pasting it somewhere.

When Backslash users click on your payment link, they’ll be redirected to the payment form with your information filled in. Other users will see your beautiful payment page:

Your payment page displays your username, profile picture, and social accounts as proof of identity. It also includes a Bitcoin address and QR code linked to your Backslash account.

Check out your page now at: backslash.io/YOUR_USERNAME

Nobody wants to sign up, I keep rotating my invite email addresses...

    What do you mean?

I think he means he's been trying to get referrals, but nobody seems to want to sign up Sad

Ah, thanks Small. I just sent TheButterZone a PM so we can figure out exactly what's going on.

I was asked to try it out and the money went through instantly. Since they control the coins and are a new service trust is probably the main issue, but the overal idea and performance is good.
    Good luck backslash team! Smiley

Thanks again for trying it out.

As I've mentioned, we think that establishing trust is very important, and we're always working on it. You can learn more about us here: https://www.backslash.io/about

I'd love to hear any new ideas for ways to continue building trust with our users and the Bitcoin community.

Hmm, someone just sent me some µBTC via Backslash, but it wants me to sign up to get them... :/
How can I retrieve them without signing up? Wink

Ha! You do need to sign up in order to get your BTC.

Try it though, maybe you'll be surprised and enjoy using Backslash. Cheesy And if you don't want to keep your account,  just email us, and we can delete it for you.

But seriously, if you do end up signing up, please let me know what you think. We'll take your feedback very seriously, and if you bring up specific concerns there's a good chance we'll address them in future releases.

BTW, where do you have MSB licensing?

We aren’t licensed yet, but we’re working closely with our legal advisors to determine what licensing requirements apply to us.

My question is: you say you can send bitcoins to "anyone" - but does that include being able to send bitcoins to bitcoin users? That is, to an explicit bitcoin address and/or via the payment protocol, so the recipient isn't forced to sign up for Backslash?

If not, this is just an ewallet that forces others to use it rather than Bitcoin itself.

It does, I withdrew to my Bitcoin wallet. It was processed instantly.
That's withdrawing, not sending. I suppose you could withdraw to someone else's address, but some services have rules against that.

I sent to an address. I said withdrawing as it was effectively that. It detected it was a blockchain transfer and mentioned the 0.1mBTC transaction fee.
    Ah, nice.

Yep! Backslash lets you send payments to Bitcoin addresses. We don’t support the payment protocol (i.e. BIP70-73) yet.
