Third world countries argue for limiting emissions on a per capita basis, which the developed world doesn't agree to. It would be meaningless to have an absolute level on emissions without taking into account the population. You should understand that China and India are the 2 most populous countries in this world.
right. but reducing emissions on a per capita basis would mean our living standards going down as china's and india's go up to converge somewhere in the middle. random numbers but instead of our average yearly income being 50k and theirs being 5k we'll all be on 10k and have just about enough to eat but not chicken and beef every day and cars and air travel. does that sound good to you because i for one am not willing to accept a reduced quality of life so that the third world can keep growing its population  as much as it wants and demanding an ever bigger slice of the pie.

Anything that bring us more in line with the rest of the world is a good thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_ecological_footprint

The world is not yours to consume, fat american. You are borrowing it from your children, and their children.
this person understands the issue and is honest, but don't any of you put your heads in the sand and pretend we can cut emissions without impoverishing ourselves so that africans and indians can double their population every couple of generations.

because its none of governments fucking business?
Actually, the environment is everybody's business, because it affects all of us. Part of the government's job is to protect everyone from selfish, entitled adult-children who are too stupid to consider externalized costs like environmental destruction. Fuck you, fuck your water-wasting lawns, fuck your BBQs. Our children deserve better.
Actually, Mr. Green, a barbecue is a completely natural way of cooking. How is this destroying the environment? What if I decided to make a fireplace on my land and cook this way instead of using a microwave like the rest of you tree huggers?
It's funny how people like you drive a car to work every day, drink from plastic bottles and then sit in front of their computers, surrounded by wooden furniture writing this crap about environment and pollution, telling people how to live and cook their meals.

worthless emotive nonsense. all the increases in pollution over the next 20 years will come from third world countries who chop down forests and burn coal and generally don't give a shit about the green agenda while american and european levels will fall or stay the same. we are making life difficult for ourselves for no meaningful benefit and at the same time helping india and china overtake us economically because we are pussies and they aren't.

The United States' reaching 300 million people might not seem relevant at a global level. After all, the United States represents just 5 percent of the world population. But it consumes disproportionately larger amounts than any other nation in the world—at least one quarter of practically every natural resource. And because it is the only industrialized country in the world still experiencing significant population growth, this high rate of resource consumption is expected to continue.

Every other industrialized nation has 3 to 6 GHA (global hectares) consumed per person, the USA consumes 8 GHA x 300 million citizens, by far the largest footprint for any major nation, and sixth worst in the world PER CAPITA.

That's not good if friends and families getting together and talking to each other in the open. Decent people sitting at the telly and eating some GMO veggie stuff.

THIS!^^

This is just another bullshit initiative, designed to distract you from real issues and steal more tax dollars from your pocket, through wasteful research programs and lavish committee meetings. There are far worse things than BBQ's, that is if they can be considered bad at all. There are industries that pollute our environment on a daily basis far more than any of us could in our entire lifetime. Not to mention the secrecy and general acceptance of harmful GMOs by our governments. Like you said, sitting in front of the 'brainwasher' is also worth mentioning, as it's an incredibly powerful tool when it comes to shaping the minds, bodies and opinions of the masses, rather than the alternative of people having actual meaningful discussions or involved in activities that may influence their lives and communities in a positive way.

EPA should be disbanded. It’s not authorized under the constitution for the federal government to regulate the environment.
Amen to that! The problem is that we give them an inch and they take a mile, that's how audacious these bureaucrats are especially the psychotic green freaks in the EPA and its backbone of environmental lobbying misfit orgs by and large. Watch their step on this one cause this is one of those times where the otherwise sleeping giant is bound to get irritated by. Getting in the way of American meat eaters and party time is bad mojo but perhaps we need more of this.

Gas grill!? What an heresy!

Barbecue only with vegetable coal or wood, you just need to wait for it to turn into burning coals. Smiley

Anyone with just 10 functioning taste buds and a half broken nose will agree with that statement...

I wish you would click through to the source material once in awhile.

The picture OP painted was an EPA regulation threatening grilling. Omgz, the gub'ment is a coming fo yo grillz! In reality, this is not a regulation or a proposed regulation or even a proposed policy. It is a grant the EPA gave some school in California to do some piddily research project as part of that university's need to justify itself as a research university. The "objective description" isn't the EPA's policy objective, it's the university's pitch made to the EPA to get the grant.

OP is presenting this as a brand new liberty-threatening EPA emergency, but that's a joke. The EPA wasted $15,000 making such a dumb grant, but that's the end of the story.

Not really sure why anyone would be happy to have tax payers $$$ being wasted on a joke.

I always encourage people to read the original linked article so they can sort it out from my own bias. You did just that, using your own bias... with an infinite trust in government and never elected officials with unlimited power.

 Cool

How the hell could they even police that? Maybe they'll train sniffer dogs to catch these barbaric meat eaters!!

I'm all up for clean air but we need to focus on the big polluters like the renewable energy companies.

Why would the EPA do that when they can go after small entrepreneurs like these next?

Many states & cities have no burn days during the winter due to smog problems. Most of them have exemptions for food prep. All these municipalities need do is refuse to enforce EPA regs.Congress can strangle the EPA if WE put enough pressure on them to do so.
