Hey guys I know GPU Mining is dead and since then I'm investing what ever I make into GPU since their cheap now for example 3060 ti/ 3070 for $170

Would you think in the long term they will at least 2x their current price or keep going down? I'm having faith in the next bull run that they will go up in price and I could sell them for a profit

Tell me your expectation and strategy

Bull markets are inevitable - they are sustained trading cycles. This means that the price of coins for mining will of course increase, and people will want to mine them, and they will need tools for that - including cards, which means that your cards will also increase in price. You're doing the right thing.
First, you need to monitor the ASICs and evaluate which coins are no longer profitable to mine on video cards.
New coins such as ETICA are constantly appearing and bringing profit even to owners of old video cards, but this profit will only be high for a few days until other miners switch to this coin.

If you are believe in the long term potential of GPU investments, it's wise to have a diversified portfolio. Also consider the cost of your capital in GPUs. Also global economics factors like inflation can influence the demand of GPUs. I think ASIC miner more popular now. So the GPU demand for mining could decrease.
The demand for video cards is already at its lowest and in stores you can easily find prices that are 50-200 dollars lower than those recommended by the manufacturer. But there is nothing to mine yet, so if electricity is expensive, then I would not buy video cards if 1-2 farms are for a hobby.

as you know new gpu still quite expensive but definetly going down because recession + oversupply, and miner dumping used gpu to market, its like flooded with gpus, even selling at cheap, only few people wanna buy,
new tech will come up in end of 2024 with gddr7 implementation, if the price still same, its should older gpu become cheaper. but at that time interest rate should be lower and economics already recover. more likely next year
you can sell gpu at profit. last time i sold my gpu that almost 5 years old, profit almost twice lol  Cheesy
If next year mining on video cards becomes popular again, then you can make good money on the sales of video cards purchased today, because miners will buy used cheap 3xxx series from Nvidia and 6xxx series from AMD. And fast memory, unfortunately, does not give an increase in hashrate on all algorithms, so DDR 6 memory copes quite well.

For $170 I wouldn't hesitate to buy 3060 ti/3070 graphics cards. In my country, these video cards are 100-150 dollars more expensive. Where are these prices and are you sure of the quality of these video cards? If these are video cards after repair, then I would not buy them. As a result, some of them will not work.

Not really. What matters is if they launch or pump a coin to replace Eth.

Agree, but only if the GPUs are bought and paid for and currently able to mine at no loss. If they're just sitting idle or mining at a loss
they're depreciating while waiting for the next pump or bull. The longer that is the more the cards approach obsolescence due to newer
more efficient models. 980ti's were useless the last bull market, maybe 1080ti's will be useless next time.

Time is not on your side, today's GPUs will only depreciate over time as new ones are released. There is an opportunity for RTX-3000 series in the near term
with overpriced and underperforming RTX-4000 but once RTX-5000 comes out RTX-3000 will be virtually worthless.

Not really. What matters is if they launch or pump a coin to replace Eth.

1080 and 1080ti made good money during  09/01/2020 to 04/01/2021

and they were okay from 04/01/2021 to sept 2022.

With that logic. My mining and making 900 a month profit now with hopes to do better in late 2024 is okay for my 3000 series cards.

I do agree if no coin pumps gpus are in for a real butt hurt continuation.

Not worth the risk IMO.

I would use that money to instead just buy coins and HODL rather than buy GPUs and HODL  Cheesy
Because we know that most top market cap have a guaranteed ROI of at least more than x2 even from the current market price when the next bull run comes around. Why gamble with GPUs you are not sure will be in high demand once again like they used to be due to high profitable Ethereum mining and shortages from the pandemic lock-downs, both factors of which are no longer there?

I asked the mods to move this to alt coins.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=224.0

the alt coin speculation board is proper spot.

I am holding more than 100 gpus. I mine them at very very very low cost power. They make a tiny profit.

I will continue to mine and make 900 a month profit vs the 10,000 a month I was doing.

Hoping that gpu's come back next fall

Ethereum has moved to proof-of-stake. None of the other GPU-mined coins are popular enough to cause GPU shortages. Maybe if there is another pandemic which causes supply chain disruption we could see GPU prices increase drastically but it is impossible to predict when that could happen and what effects it will have. Buying crypto directly would be the best way to capitalize on the next bull run.

I left GPU mining a long time ago, because I thought it was no longer profitable for me. I sold all the GPUs I had and I left 1 to make into a gaming PC.

And I'm still curious because I haven't heard news about GPU mining for a long time, does it still exist now? If so, what do they use now?
The altcoin/mining area is where to find information & discussions about it.

I don't think these GPUs will be worth holding and sell it after block halving there is no guarantee that you can make a profit after block halving because most of the coins you can mine with GPUs are shitcoins.

Many people are looking for a good PC spec for gaming so why not build a gaming PC instead to make a good profit?
I'm sure you could make a good profit because I have already done it before.

Hi. Indeed GPU mining is dead. Do you plan to sell them to people who want to mine? Or sell them for other purpose, like gaming etc?
Graphics cards are not only used for bitcoin mining, they can also be used for altcoin mining. But as most altcoins are using PoS already, there might not be increase in the sales of graphics cards.

Well it doesn't matter in the near future if they go up in price a bit right? whether it will be used for mining or gaming I'm just hoping they will go up in price so i could profit a little
Using graphics cards in gaming was not the main reason the price increased to the highest price it was, it was becuase they are used in mining. I can remember when china banned bitcoin and other crypto mining, the price of graphics cards dropped, because graphics cards are used for mining altcoins. If cryptocurrencies are no more requiring graphics cards, the price may not increase as it should be, but fiat will continue to decrease in value which might be an advantage.

Well the answer is "it depends". Obviously people will buy a GPU from you, as long as it is in good condition (or even in perfect condition, since I assume you will not use them). But, you must of course sell them less than the price you can find in stores or online.

The price of hardware will go up if the supply is not enough. The whole China-Taiwan situation has caused a decrease in supply. Please inform yourself through valid websites, since I have the general idea, but I don't want to misguide you.

Regarding Bitcoin
Since you posted in the Bitcoin mining section,  it is true that GPUs are not profitable anymore. In order to make money you have to generate coins using ASIC miners which are specifically designed for this purpose. Therefore, I believe you will not be able to sell them to people who want to mine. Take a look into other coins / chains though, because there may be some other coins, where the difficulty may be much less than Bitcoin's and therefore, GPUs could be profitable. Perhaps I am wrong, but I would look into it.
