Whatever you think of the moral judgments that are embodied by drug laws, buying a kilo of heroin on silk road proved that bitcoin could just as easily be used to buy a pound of flour, a school textbook or a car. That's what really matters.
From there, if you're still stuck on how bitcoin is being used to buy drugs, you may as well be talking about the USD because you've clearly missed the forest in favour of the tree you didn't like the look of.

The transaction fee I paid was negligible. Why? Because it was more practical to pay using BTC.

I'm a bit confused what the point is that you're trying to make. From an investment standpoint, why does it matter if you can or cannot buy things with Bitcoin? The fact of the matter is people are making money mining and trading Bitcoin and that isn't going to stop anytime soon.
