Yes this is true! Scammers with their newbie accounts can post links with viruses or malwares..But also can buy hero accounts or used for this hacked accounts, so we are at the beginning again..

A lot of scammers are little delinquants, so they dont have the money to buy an Hero Member account.

You can get a good feel for a person's character by looking at his posting behaviour, and post content. Unfortunately a lot of useful posts seem to get deleted by the mods, especially if they illustrate a wry sense of humour.

Imo newbies are fine to trade or sell anything on the marketplace as long as their behavior is not shady. Always use an escrow while trading with them and be sure to ask for any verification or past trading quotes if they have any.

But I think newbies should not be allowed to do PayPal to btc exchanges since there is no secure method for safeguarding this kind of transactions.

You shouldnt ban the newbies, some of them have legitimate reason, years ago before the forum was reset or w/e I lost my account and just in 2014 I was a newbie again and I did some legit trades and here I am..

this issue is pretty damn similar (and by that im saying its essentially the same) to the question of banning newbies from the lending section: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/petition-to-keep-newbies-outta-the-lending-section-1297180
there was another, longer thread here somewhere, but im not going to go look for that.

in short, it isnt going to happen.

membership level and trust are totally irrelevant when a forum allows scammers to buy memberships imho.

Good point, but membership level restrictions would at least clear up the total morons creating new accounts and asking for 50btc loans. They're not going to have a satoshi to their name.

I don't think that it would be a good idea. I provide loans to the people. Since I don't have a positive trust, I'd have to go to the trash section, were I'll get low quality clients, that will always scam me.

It doesn't have to be trust, not that I understand it or actually trust it anyway. It could be activity levels or anything that shows some intention to stick around. Anyway it's probably a terrible idea but it would inspire me to look a little closer.

Someone that have his service in the flow of the scams and the rubbish thread couldn't have many clients to build trust on. Another solution would be to give to theymos or someone else that is really really respected a kind of collateral, which will be given back after a few good trade or when one stops his lending activities.

Use your intelligence and perform due diligence, just because some members don't like something doesn't mean admins will change anything. At this point any chance of a change in a marketplace rule is close to zero.

"Perform due diligence"

What if newbies are stupid? Like most. Alot that are new to Bitcoin have no idea of the scammers, and this forum's sections only encourage that.
When an old reputable member is behind some scam, newbie are prone to fall for it even higer rank members can be scammed like master-p scammed a lots of high rank members

If it were me I'd divide up the lending and currency exchanges sections into two. One for people with trust or a certain activity level or track record, the other a total cesspit with a large disclaimer at the top.

Seriously, why would one choose the section where it's in written in red at the top of the page "BEWARE, MOST OF THE PEOPLE HERE ARE SCAMMERS. TRADE WITH CAUTION !" instead of the section where everyone have positive trusts ?

Another good idea would be to extend this restriction to the lending section. That's crazy how many dumb people there's there. Maybe that's the same guy ?

sure, but we are not allowed to ban scam though.
instead, we can ban the newbies in case of spamming on the forum to evade ban for the main account. would that be a better solution?
Well maybe that's something that needs to be addressed when we switch over to the new forum.   It seems kinda silly to me that scams are allowed but whatever.  Newbs should be severely limited in what they can do.

Reading through the rules and using common sense helps a lot.

I do however find an option to hide several sections of the forum for accounts with lower than Member status a very good idea.

I only think these changes will not be made by the forum operator as it may not be interesting enough for him/them.

If no one will fall to their "scam" attempt, then no one will be scammed. I think it's fair to say that MOST people around here are smart enough not to trade with those newbies that you are reffering to.

OP I tend to agree with you on this but bct doesn't even ban scammers even when they're caught.  A lot of people just create new accounts to fish for suckers and they abandon them when no one bites.  So restricting newbies would help that.

I also agree. If someone is new and wants to buy bitcoin, why dont they go to some reputable bitcoin exchange and buy from them? Many btc exchanges accept payment with PayPal.It will be more safer for them also if they really wants to buy

Totally agree with that. Maybe just hide the section for newbies or even Jr members. They only spam with countless threads only saying:"I have PayPal. I want bitcoin"
I just ignore the PMs from newbies that want to exchange. They find countless excuses for avoiding escrow, and if they don't agree with that, they'll leave you with red trust.

In currency exchange, 50% of the posts on page 1 are from newbies, which makes it difficult to search for a legit trader.

It's ridiculous as to why they are allowed making threads. I'd say a good >99% are made to scam. More at the same scammers coming back for more money, and other Newbies end up going first always, sooner or later. It's crazy. Why are Newbies allowed to post there? They can't post images, can't post more than once in a 6 minute period, yet the gates to scamming are left wide open.

Not to mention >80% of lending/currency exchange threads are useless garbage made by Newbies that are trying to scam or have no collateral. You have to sort through a ton of bullshit before finding an actual serious thread.
