Are they going to use an existing law or did the Bank just make a new law because banks in Bangladesh also have legislative power?
It seems you don't need a government anymore when you can just as well have a central bank instead.

Some governments try anything, even fear, to get what they want. In this case, their economy is failing and they trying to protect the corrupt fiat currency, with bad laws.

Bangladesh used to be controlled by the British. Formerly it was called Bengal.

The important part about this is that Bangladesh is an English common law country. This means that the people have the power to individually use Bitcoin without adverse governmental restrictions or punishment, if they pick up and use their rights, that is.

Any country that threatening their citizens with this kind of harsh sentences for a very minor offense is bound to have a low standard of living and low economic growth. The fact that bitcoin is involved is not relevant, the fact they are willing to jail someone for over a decade for a nonviolent crime that could not possibly have a victim is what is key to their economic growth, or actually the lack thereof

Such a shame to see that some Countries will do anything to ensure that public in their Country will follow their laws and rules. I have seen worse laws though and worse reasons for jailing so this is not a surprise to me to be honest.
