Cubox,

You need to consider what happened far more clearly. Look around you at successful alt chains, you have two (arguably three) which have withstood 51% attacks:

- Namecoin because it had a critical mass of support and performed additional functions. Still had to enable merged-mining to avoid the ire of BitcoinEXpress.
- Litecoin because it was pre announced with 0 blocks pre-mined, and allowed everybody a fair chance to get in at block 0. This meant it wasn't perceived as a scam.
- Solidcoin because its trusted nodes allow it to control which transactions are processed regardless of who controls the network.

When people see a new alt-chain start up with a large pre-mine from a closed group of people and relatively few additional features, they (rightly or wrongly) tend to think it's a scam.

When the person who wrote the code for that alt-chain claims that he was told it would never go public, and never start trading, they believe even moreso that it is a scam.

For what it's worth, I didn't point any hashes at either side of the conflict because my (very few) hashes are pointed at Litecoin solo mining.

You should consider re-opening for business in a more Litecoin-like manner, with a clear list of differences presented for all to see, and a reasonable (at least 60 hour) pre-warning before opening so all potential early adopters can be on board. Be prepared to bribe Bitcoin or Litecoin miners to defend the currency. The fact that it had so few hashes that a single miner could have 51%'d it was the real problem.

Sorry for what happened, but if you want to survive you have to understand the game.

Edit: Also, don't judge the whole community by the actions of a dozen or less people.

YEAH, they broke BBQCoin.

Perfect guys, That was I excepted. Thanks, you take less than one month to destroy this altcoin! (I was excepting that you will take more than one month).

So, test is over, yes, after the first trading they 51% BBQCoin, now I know, the bit/litecoin community is a shame.
You can't make a (fake) altcoin without being attacked.
So, I just learned one thing, you are naive, attackers. And after you tell that you are against scams? How do you want people to get involved and help the bitcoin coders if you destroy any attempt of help which is not with the pure blockchain?
Anyway, opensource, that joke. Imagine, if BBQCoin was source-closed. No attacks. So, bitcoin, be closed source!

Thanks for all the people that beleive into bbqcoin, but YOU got scammed. Cheesy

Regards, Cubox, 13 old.

And why is everyone giving up? We are not being 51%ed at the moment, it's the perfect time to rally people to help.

I'll help. Should I bring the chicken or the bbq sauce? :p

There would be many many more attacks if BBQ/Bitcoin were closed source. Not too long ago a DoS vulnerability was discovered in the Satoshi client and chances are it wouldn't have been discovered if it wasn't open source.

Also, who would develop Bitcoin if it was closed source? And why would we trust the developers?
