Just because you are intelligent, it doesn't mean that you can'r be stupid. In this case we should criticise the post and not the poster. We criticise the poster when he keeps repeating the stupidity. Now we come to the problem of the assessment of stupidity - I believe that anyone who believes that Britain should stay in the EU is myopic and stupid, but nearly 50% of the UK may not agree with me. So how can we determine the group opinion of stupidity - I think informed discussion is the answer, and I agree the the attack should be on the opinion, and not on the holder.

That works when they are voicing an opinion they believe in, however, when they are clearly demonstrated to be pushing double standards and only voicing an opinion in that specific context to solidify the double standards  but then a totally different opinion when it is applied to themselves or their friends- then the attack on the person is clearly warranted.

Debate is the only way to thrash out the optimal opinion. Once you have won the debate and debunked all opposing argument then if they continue to proliferate those debunked views that comes under trolling here.

Even then if people have not first attacked you or used bad language in your direction continuously, then if you can stick to making sure your points are clearly and undeniably dominant and crush their spurious nonsense you may not feel the need to get into a swearing/insults/snide pisstaking banter/not banter with them. Does not really matter to the discerning reader, that will pick out the valid points from the mess regardless if they are REALLY interested in finding out the truth or optimal solution.

Sorry? Did I hurt your vagina? It's funny how you're attacking me even though you're the one that's in a signature campaign.

I think he was referring to OP and not you.

Usually very rarely users insult each others. If some stupid questions came from newbies then I can't see any reason why someone will insult him.

For example, new ask a question, "What is merit ? " I won't mind it But what if that same question asked by high ranked users who ranked up by airdrop merit. Most likely someone would insult him. If someone related with spam, scams then they might be insulted. Respect who respect to you. If someone scam you will you respect his attitude? I don't think so.

So do that job what is appropriate for you. Don't write about which you don't have enough knowledge or you are not familiar with that. Everyone if free to leave their opinions here, no one could stop them. Just don't give opportunity to insult you !

Ehh it really hugely depends on the context. I would have no problem calling scammers/spammers derogatory words. As for unnecessarily "offensive" words, well, I personally don't like doing it, but it's a free forum. If someone is easily offended by such terms being thrown at them by random people online, then they probably shouldn't be conversing in forums and social media sites.

We must learn to respect one another on a forum like this.
That is often done by everyone here.

Be polite.
that's for sure when you're not drunk.

More than hundreds of countries joined this forum and thousands of people registered in this forum.

Polite, respectful, I do it when I'm not drunk.

If I get drunk, I do like this.

Why will someone prepare a good meal and then decide to keep it in a cabinet full of cockroaches? Wake up.

i guess it is time to begin to publish the names of shit developers on the forum in order to do some justice to the crypto sphere.

I always laugh when I see people still talking about long term hodl when the reality is staring us in the face. Don't be a fool,

Members of this forum include a variety of characters, traits, reason, knowledge, and behavior, all of which are accressive and relative.
There are thousands of brains that think and speak here, just ignore it.

Thanks for the examples YOSHI. You see OP these type of posts are rude to me, impolite, down right fucking insulting, so I would start worrying about your own posts before you worry about others, dicknozzle

I will agree with you on these points. I guess i was wrong to think i can talk about been polite on the internet, i think i need to grow thicker skin.

You are in a forum that practices free speech so when your views differientiate from other members expect to have debates and disagreements with it. You don't even need to have a thicker skin to do it if you firmly believe in what you have said then be prepared to defend it with the upcoming replies you will have. If they are rude then we can't really do anything about it that's who he is you don't have to take it too personally.

Grin the first one I thought of when I read the title.

On being polite, I mean it's hard to do that with users trying to promote ponzi projects. I've had some arguments with someone defending a ponzi in our local board  and tried to be as polite as possible but he/she thought I was being rude Grin

All good points, and yes, Theymos is very pro freedom of speech, which includes being able to express some rudeness.  I wouldn't want this forum to be sanitized to the point where we constantly have to self-censor so as not to offend someone.

This can be a very prickly forum at times.  We've got senior members at each others' throats and we've got shitposters and scammers being called out for it--it's hard to express genuine sentiment in those situations if your aim is not to hurt people's feelings and to be polite.  It just doesn't work and frankly I wouldn't have it any other way.  Either grow a spine and stick up for yourself or go find a nice forum about fluffy Disney characters.

OP, are you thinking of any specific examples you've seen recently?  It'd be nice to see what you consider rude.

Oh, the irony. Telling people to be polite while mocking long hodlers eh?

Quote from: Mealea
Why do you refuse to face the reality of the present state of the crypto market? I always laugh when I see people still talking about long term hodl when the reality is staring us in the face. Don't be a fool, only the smart are leading the race in the crypto sphere of today. Why do you decide to hodl when you know that the price may dump? Why not sell at the peak and then you can buy back at the bottom. The race is not to the fool but to the wise. Selling at the peak and buying back at bottom is wisdom but holding at the peak expecting a magic spike is foolishness. Bull run is not here yet, do not expect a magic spike. When the bull run is here, you don't need a prophet to tell you that. Be smart.

OP, you should grow thicker skin. It's internet and you shouldn't expect that everyone will be polite here. Everyone have right to express what they think in a way that they want.
And I don't want to repeat what others already said. But before complaining, you should look at yourself first.

I just checked your post history.
You have made 17 posts from December 07, 2019, 02:04:10 AM (GMT) to 03:17:45 AM. 1 post every 4 minutes on average.!!!! (Archived: http://archive.is/Y6llY). I don't know how many of your posts have been deleted.
Don't you think you are spamming?
You are breaking forum rules.

Edit:
Look at this post

Investing in a coin like Litecoin will not be a bad idea for me because i believe so much in litecoin. You can give it a try.

The problem is not that people disagree with you. All of members of the forum agree with you. The problem is that You are spamming.

It is true though. Maybe the majority went crazy because of the bad market conditions, but I have seen individuals that cannot control themselves at all. We need to implement some rule to punish such guys.
The problem lies right in this post. You see, now that would be rude of me to call you stupid but how can I control myself if you post something that is actually stupid? The market went crazy so members started abusing each other? Do you see any logical sense in this? Should I write an essay explaining how wrong you are here? If you spent enough time on the forum, read the forum rules you should know there is no rule that punishes users for being rude or using slurs. But then you'd expect someone to be nice to you and coach you on how the forum works.

We must learn to respect one another on a forum like this. I don't think people should be insulted for making a post. Referring to someone as dumb or fool just because of a post that you do not agree with is totally out of order. Rather than criticizing a post and insulting someone, why not just ignore. If everyone is an expert then who will be a novice? Mind you, you only know what you know, you don't know it all. Be polite.
The forum is managed by admin (theymos) who is open-minded with free-speech (if there are no serious issues occur with your free speech).

Regarding to respect with each other, I have some points to note and remind you and the others (just generally, and I don' offend anyone):
- Don't post if you don't have real reasons to ask for help or don't have real 'valuable', reading-worthy to post (because posts are non-sense, low-/zero- value, off-topic are not allowed by the forum rules (unofficial). [1, 2]
- Don't playing dumb to create dumb questions or topics. If one does this, it is fair if the others call that one is dumb.
- Ignore. Don't ask the others to ignore if you don't ignore your post button first (if you don't have anything valuable to post).
- Polite. Don't ask for politeness from the others if one keeps showing shit posts around.
Since 2018, what did you contribute to prevent signature ads removed globally?

Although I agree with the fact that this is a forum and we owe it to one another to be polite(it doesn't make you less of a person), there is nothing wrong with criticism.  The issue is 'how' the critics air their views, say what you want to say but let's be guided how we say it.
