In choosing a cryptocurrency for long-term investment, it's a good idea to look at projects that are
done. It concerns the fundamentals of the crypto coin. However, you can consider assets
crypto with a relatively large market capitalization value as an investment option.

I am not talking about crap coins or coins "du jour" that are hyped today but seem to fade as time goes on like chainlink seems to have done. So what legit coins do you see blossoming in the future long term? i am interested in investing in them. ill add another question on top of this one, is matic and solana hype coins today that hot today but not tommorow?

DOGE and XMR.

Doge will live on because memes will live on. XMR will also have its place in the future because people will always use drugs or make some other shady shit and XMR will always their #1 choice. Besides those, I don't really see any coins staying in the long term.

LTC will probably be around too but I wouldn't bet on this too much.

Besides those two coins i think BNB also worth as long Term investment and i was tempting too for Polygon and Solana because in my view these coins very potential to grow in the future
No coin that is not potential, what we want is the good project of the coin only, other coins is good to buy, the solana took long before the coin started doing good, the same time it took before it started developing well is the same thing any other coins will also, see banana was doing with good project but is not doing good again

Of course, BTC, ETH, and BNB are the first top investment. Besides, So far, I am investing in TKO. I know that this is a high risk, but I also see the use case of this token. So far, the price has dropped down very much, but no problem. This is my risk that I must take and Ima still holding them for long term.

Actually, I am willing to take some Metaverse tokens because there are some probabilities that next year will be the year of Metaverse. But still looking forward to the right token or coin to have,
Investment for the long term needs good and strong fundamentals and also teams. This is risky, but once it is potential and successful, we may be good at it

I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
I try to keep my long-term portfolio wide and i try to buy of most coins in the top 100 with small investments. However, apart from Bitcoin and Ethereum, my most trusted long-term investments are BNB, SOL, XLM and VET.
But can you actually monitor such a big portfolio in an effective way? I say this because you are talking at minimum of having more than 50 coins in your portfolio, unless you are completely dedicated to investing and trading cryptocurrencies it is impossible to dedicate enough time to each one of those coins so you will know everything there is to know about them, so I think it is way better to have a smaller portfolio that you can monitor more easily to avoid unexpected losses.

Besides bitcoin and ethereum, I find polkadot, Ada, Mina to be good for long term investment. This is just a random pick. Apart from these coins, top 100 on the coinmarketcap is good for long term investment. Because, to be on the top order isn't an easy thing. There were few hyped meme coins, but I prefer holding small volume of those coins. There were more potential coins in the market, identifying the best is a very difficult. Very few get lucky to invest and make big profit out of it. Recently saw few project launch, almost every coin grew 10x once it went on trading.

Bitcoin- in bullish time
If you're going for high cap coins only, I'd just invest in bitcoin.

For low cap, you could make a few tiny picks of things that seem good and see if you're any good at working out what might grow (but don't put too much into it).

Everyone's heard about bitcoin, a lot get hyped about ethereum around points like these (so not a good time to buy now - especially since the staking stuff).
Bitcoin is always the peoples choice of investment, without a doubt. To invest in bitcoin requires a whole lot of fortune to see profits due to bitcoin price. Is always a matter of investing hugely in bitcoin, why not invest in other top altcoins by diversifying your investment strategy. So many individuals are making a whole lot of profits than a single bitcoin investment.
Ethereum is not a hyped coin as proclaimed by you. There's every tendency it will hit $10k before the end of next year
Besides, we can still make fortune for the other coins like BNB and the rest of the top 10 coins in the market. Aside from buying and holding BTC and ETH, I'll do buy some of the known altcoins. Of course, they'll take a small share of investment as the big chunk had planned for Bitcoin.
I keep 5-6 different coins but it can be more once I have more funds. And the reason why I had spread in those numbers is to make sure that I still have the chance to recover if one or two of them are at loss, I could still make gains in the other.

Once a man, twice a child!

These things ( I mean deciding on coins to hodl) are really subjective by my calculations. Most people seem to emphazisi hodling Bitcoin like there aren't others who aren't hodling a single unit of it. I've a friend who feels Bitcoin is overrated and thus doesn't hodl any. A few hours ago, the friend shared with me a post by someone else which I'm quoting here, “Don't be emotionally attached with any of the tokens...If you must fall in love, then in my opinion fall in love with Ethereum, Bitcoin and ADA.” In my response, I told him I only hodl Bitcoin and didn't care about the others in that post.

It's the same way that what one calls a credible crypto today may be a shitcoin tomorrow; not necessarily because it has a bad team or product but because a lot of people tend to judge tokens from price level and not workability and utility. For a long time now, I've been hugged on a virtually unknown coin called Cartesi. It's a crypto I know will do extremely well.

I have some Near protocol for myself and my wife, and mine has been staked to avoid selling off like I sold my ETH, Matic and some other good coins at their early stage. Near protocol is actually a layer1 blockchain with about 100k/TPs, so it's highly scalable, it my as well have an impactful growth like Solana. Should I see a bear market, I will accumulate more.

Probably ADA and SOL.

Just in case ETH was actually replaced by some of the newer protocols, which I think is extremely unlikely, it is always good to have some backup plans that are ready to fire.

You could also keep a small portion of your funds in meme tokens just in case one of them goes off, but that is very risky.

In addition to Bitcoin and ethereum then there are so many other potential coins that we can rely on, matic and solana are very good coins for us to invest in the future because for now the coins are in the development of their respective networks so that they are currently increasingly interested by many investors then later the price will definitely increase, and we also need to pay attention to other coins such as BNB and polka dots that are currently also very suitable for us to invest.

For now, I am not thinking about holding coins for a long tern, I am only holding coins to reach my own target to the bullish season and I expect it will happen in 2022.
And after the bullish era has ended and turns into bearish era, I will  start again putting my money in coins for long term holding.
They are of course, Bitcoin
And if you are asking about other coins, well, I exactly will focus on two others, they are Ethereum and also BNB. I am sure that ETH and BNB are two coins that are very valuable to hold for a long-term investment.

And about the other altcoins, well, I think that I must see for a Metaverse projects, but not for now, I ma looking at the chance of how the Metaverse projects will e next year in order to consider whether they are exactly valuable and promising for long term investment or not.

Besides Bitcoin and also Ethereum, some coins that I really want to hold for a long term are probably:
- BNB (Binance coin with its special features, networks, and also use cases)
- TKO ( quite similar with BNB but this is cheaper price, but right now the price is still down enough)
- Sandbox ( this may be for the next era related to the Metaverse.
Well, but I will buy them when the market has been in the real bearish market so that I can get the very cheap prices of them and make them as a long term until at least the next bullish period in 2025 or more.

I do not trust in any other coin than those two to invest for the long term, and even then it could be even argued if it is a good idea to invest in ethereum for such a long time, the truth is that it does not matter how amazing a project could look, we know that one day it could be one of the hottest projects in the market and then after a few months it crashes and it never recovers, as it is replaced by a new project while those developers make the same promises that the developers of the coin that crashed made, now if you want to invest in those coins for the short term then things change, but when it comes to the long term only trust BTC and if you want to take a risk then you can trust ETH as well.
Bitcoin and ethereum will always be both profitable as investments. So its not surprising that most of the investors prefer them over other new coins. But i'm not closing doors for  other coins as even if they are in dump these days, it will always have chances that they will also grow their value in the future as long as they have that potentials to last long in crypto market. But still, always include bitcoin and ethereum on top of the list.

Are there still any good coins in the long-term that are worth the hold? Feels like they left off the top 10 anyways whatever those coins are with the exception of stablecoins of course.
I would still hold for Bitcoin. If there was worth holding in the long-term, I could have bought that as well along with ETH.
I would say that holding ETH is still a valid option and I would put BNB and LTC there as well. They are probably the most trustworthy four horsemen of the crypto world right now. I am not saying that they are the only ones, obviously there are other coins that you could invest, but for people who do not trust any coin at all, these four are the most important and known ones if you ask me.

Something like 50% bitcoin, 25% ETH, 15% BNB and 10% LTC would build a great portfolio for anyone who is starting newly or anyone who doesn't want to risk their money with other coins. I of course invest into other things as well but I am taking that risk, you do not have to do that, just these four would be enough.

The 4 coins you mentioned are not only very good for long-term investments, but it is a good choice for a newbie who is less knowledgeable about
the crypto world. Because BTC, ETH, BNB and LTC are indeed very safe coins for investment, the four coins have a fairly high demand, and is also
listed on many popular exchanges. So indeed the risk of investing in the 4 coins is not too big. But that doesn't mean it's easy to make a profit from
the 4 coins you mentioned, it takes good emotional control to be successful. Because the volatile crypto market sometimes makes the movement of
coins difficult to predict, so it takes patience and not to panic when the market moves in the direction we don't expect. No matter how good the coins
we choose for investment, the price will drop quite deep as well. That's the importance of good emotional control, so that we can be patient with
any situation and not make the wrong decisions.

I was kind of thinking LTC back in the days along with Doge, but I was stalled a lot by my non-crypto activities. I ended up throwing most of my money to BTC and a few for ETH. I sold most of my ETH though and now I am just holding Bitcoin, not that I mind about it anyway.

MATIC and SOLANA will be good in the future and I’m confident about it so you can invest on that as well and have a great holdings. You can also look for good Metaverse token, like GALA and AXS, they are still cheap for me and I know their potential to rise is very huge so better to take advantage with the price now.
