I'd suggest investing in Darkcoin.

Even though or because  it already grew 500% in one month?

Well, after lurking on these forums for several months, I finally signed up today and was going to post a "Where to next, after the ASICs monopolise Litecoin?" query as my traditionally dumb first post.

After reading through this thread, I'm glad I didn't bother. The words "vested" and "interests" spring to mind almost as athletically as the words "unbiased" and "opinion" leap off in the opposite direction.

FWIW, I'm not a stakeholder in any of the new altcoins yet. Just waiting for Mr. Postie to finish bringing me the bits to build my first test mining rig, before I start my collection. So, as yet, I have no dog in this fight. However, from devouring vast swathes of discussion on this forum over the past few months, the coins that pique my interest and which I'll probably start with [difficulty levels permitting] are:

  • Myriad
  • Namecoin
  • Peercoin
  • Unobtanium

...until that is, I foist my own copy-pasted effort onto an uncaring world, at which point coin will suddenly become the 'innovative', 'revolutionary' coin to watch and unnamed persons [ie. me] will confidently 'expect' it to reach £25 within the next 6 months.

PS: Hi all!  Grin
You're talking nonsense. Peercoin and namecoin are good, the others no.
I'd suggest investing in Darkcoin.

Litecoin, Vertcoin, and Darkcoin are good investments.

Look at the vertcoin map:

http://vertmap.com/

There are currently 23 places that support it.

A couple of days ago, it was at 7.

I truly believe BTC will have a long life.
As for investment it's hard to say as exchange rates depend on many factors and are highly volatile.

One thing I have noticed - some altcoins lose 30-70% of their values when they are added to Cryptsy.
So it's better to sell them before.

Some people said Ripple.  As far as I know, this is totally missing the point.  Ripple isn't really a coin, it is a payment system.  The XRP which is the coin of Ripple isn't meant to be worth anything.  It is just suppose to be a small little something that is burnt every transaction and therefore its purpose is not to be speculated on but instead to counter act spam.  The USD, EURO, RMB, bitcoin, gold, silver in the Ripple system is what is meant to be valuable.  As a payment system for moving money around the globe, the Ripple technology is magnitudes better than bitcoin.  Right now the technology is there, but there are no endpoints to use it.  Think of Ripple as like a net connecting lots of different financial institutional and right now all the wires are laid but they just aren't connected to anybody that is home.  That might change in the future.  But even if it does and even if Ripple takes over and smashes everything else, then XRP still won't be worth much.  The whole point of XRP is so that it will be destroyed.  Why is something that is meant to be destroyed valuable?  Many people also complain that Ripple is premined and therefore a scam, but again what does it matter if it was all premined when it is all worth almost nothing.

The tech of Ripple is so much better because in theory if the network gets enough backing by financial institutions than I can send USD to anywhere in the world and instantly have it converted into the currency of that land, all in about 5 seconds, all for almost no fees but burning a little XRP.  The ripple system is a free market so anybody that offers the exchanges for the cheapest margins are automatically selected.  This drives down the fees for the consumer.  And even though I think that as a platform Ripple is of magnitudes more utility than bitcoin, I own very little XRP and like 100 times more bitcoin.  There really just isn't a point in speculating on XRP in my opinion.

Only BTC is valuable.
At this moment true but for the future I see more potential for new coins with inovated features.
BTC can go to $ 1000 or more but the most grow is behind us.

I think BTC is done - they can't ever convince the mainstream to jump in due to all the scandals and technical issues.

So? Every Altcoin has the same structure. If Bitcoin cannot grow why should any altcoin? Or do you think you can't steal Litecoin or Blackcoin like you can steal Bitcoin?

Both of these quotes are misguided... BTC is just getting started. You have to understand that BTC and the technology behind it is about so much more than our little world here on bitcointalk.org and cryptsy/mintpal... BTC is going to have its blockchain incorporated into so much more of the Internet over the next few years and it is still gaining adoption by many new large firms and governments as time goes on. BTC has the potential to be worth $100K/coin or even more. Day trading is only a small portion of BTC. Its not done, this is only the beginning.

Only BTC is valuable.

But it's too hard to mine because of the diff.
Why not to try luck with altcoins? There is a big variety of alcoins with different features.
Just need to choose the coin which meets the requirements of anonymity and ,IMHO, must  be CPU only to get rid of participation in unfair race that happens with GUI mining coins
