It's hard to find the hype on altcoin on the basis that everyone will do that because of the short-term benefits of a lot of coin hunting like this and therefore we can only determine the future coins well in terms of price or increase in the long run and therefore all must choose in your portfolio the highest altcoin.

This is a question you will never find the right answer for because no one knows which or what coin will even survive in the next two years from now, if you don't know well crypto is a high risk investment, you can loss money and you can gain, you have to do lots of research before making the right choice

I'm invested in ETH right now and for me that is the best altcoin because of the developments of the team that are on going right now but I don't want to recommend it still because it would be better if you will do some research into what coin would you want to invest your money with.

But if I were to OP, I'll stick to bitcoin first or pick at least eth or btc cash as a jump-start. And then he could deal with more volatile alts once became more experienced.
