Darkcoin is good.... its cheap now...

Darkcoin is not a good name for a coin.
Its one of the coins that is too high priced and won't likely get the huger percentage increases.

Its a matter of preference though, and there are different types of investors out there

The anonymous coins are only a niche, and that niche may get rejected by the larger
market which may be coming to crypto. They may reject most anonymous coins because of percieved or real criminals involved with those coins or criminal activities.

Take a look to all those "rare" named coins. You don't need a good name at all.

Besides that... Smartcoin a good name? Lol.

You dont know for Neos??
 Grin

I mentioned in the OP above, about coins with good names.
I do not immediately know what a 'neos' is.
I do not immediately consider it to be a good name for a coin.
therefore I am not likely to even look at that coin.
Explain to me, what is a 'neos' ? See, I would have to look it up, and I did a brief search(not to dictionairies)
and I found a bunch of different links to diverse companies and stuff, and still don't know what
you mean by calling a coin 'neos' ... What is the point of naming it neos?

In fact, some of the more 'popular' coins nowadays, I never would even look at in the first place,
because I believe they blew it from the start, by chosing names for the coin that I was not interested in,
and I did not think the coin was all that marketable with that name.
I prefer coins with names that are marketable. If they can't even get that right, then forget it.

doge, dark, bitcoindark etc... are not good names for coins, and not all that marketable,
but some people just forced their wills on lousy named coins, and had large amounts of money to
prop up the price and illogical miners who don't care about the name of a coin then got involved.
I consider the current altcoin scene to be a temporary thing.
The word 'doge' is an incorrect spelling of the word 'dog', and most people do not want to use a dog coin to begin with.
Dark was named 'x' coin at first, and xcoin is a really good name for a coin, but went and changed the name to darkcoin and blew it from my perspective.
bitcoindark is a combination of two names for this coin, and its too long, so no go.

Smartcoin, the word 'Smart' is already a popular word indicating a form of wisdom but incomplete wisdom,
but the thing is there is a large Smart market to advertise to, so I consider it a good marketing name for a coin.

To be honest with you, I do not know what a 'neos' is.
If you read the OP, I mentioned coins that have good names that are low priced currently,
and with lots of upside potential.
At least some of the upside potential is because of having a good name for the coin.

Almost all the 'new' technical 'innovations' for coins are less important than the good name of the coin,
but I believe most of the current market has been manipulated by just a few market participants
who are currently willing to spend large amounts of money to prop their coins up on false tech stuff that means little or
nothing to me.

The fact remains that people will use the coin they prefer to use, and I prefer simplicity more than complexity,
and I don't need gadgets inside the wallet which create backdoor opportunities for thieves and such.

What's the exact difference between your thread and
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/best-alt-coin-to-invest-in-2014-487409

?

What thread are you referring to? What is the title of that thread? And who wrote it? Who started it?
Its a different topic.
I don't usually click on links that look like yours did.

You don't need to click on it, if you don't want.

You can find it on the same page 1. The name of the thread is "Best altcoin to invest in 2014"

And what kinds of coins did the OP of that thread like to invest into in 2014?

This thread is about 2014 and 2015.

I mentioned in the OP above, that there are different styles of investors,

and the OP of that thread likely has different style than myself.

But the thing is, that there is diversity amongst investors, and some people will agree with what I said,
and others may agree with that other poster.

Its really up to the individual investor.

I remember going to a stockbroker back before the internet was popular,
and I remember the stockbroker would categorize me according to my investing style.

The thread you are mentioning, the OP is asking a question.

In this thread, I am not asking a question, but you notice the exclamation mark?

I made a statement, whereas the other poster asked a question.

Two different threads.

Now, can we discuss this thread now. But if you want to discuss that other thread, why not go post there?

You just want to give us here a second field where everybody can talk about the best coin. Your thread seems to be dispensable.

Best altcoin to invest into in 2014 and 2015

There are many factors to consider.

Perhaps one of the most important things to realize,

is that investors have different styles or ways of investing.

Some investors like to invest more into higher speculation things,
with higher risks,
but with very high returns if they luck out.

Other investors prefer less speculation or less risks,
and want more certainty when they invest,
but tend to get lower percentages of gain if there is any gain.

But I think that investing into cryptocoins is almost always higher speculation
therefore higher risks are associated with investing into cryptocoins,
but there is chances of high percentage gains.

But people need to buy low.

Some coins that are already selling at higher prices, may be less likely
to get huge increases from.

Other coins that are selling for less currently, are more likely
to be the kinds of buys for investors who are looking for
10x, 100x, 1000x, or 3000x their money.

In general, if you want to get the highest gains, then you may need to take
higher risks.
Coins that are already high priced will have a hard time getting 10x or 100x
out of.

But recently there hasn't been that many investors buying the lowest priced
coins, thereby creating investing opportunities for people who
really want the huge gains.

Investing at times of pessimism in a coin, or even at maximum pessimism,
may be the ways to get those huge gains, but its a gamble and I cannot say
for sure which coins will go up the most.
In general the current market tends to be driven by just a few large
investors, and who knows what they are going to invest into?

But if you invest into a coin that is currently very cheap,
and if you know how to turn that coin around and make it more popular and/or
fix some of the problems, then it may not be as much of a risk then.

I tend not to buy coins that are at all-time highs or even what seems to be
the most popular coins, partly because I believe alot of that is just
market manipulations of a relatively few people in crypto.

Whereas, I would look for the coin that is being disregarded, and that has
a good name for marketing, and with lots of upside potential if things
turn around for the coin, and that is where the 1000x or more might come from
more likely.
But it might not happen right away, but look down the road a few years,
and consider that at some time during that 3 year period the price may
go up considerably, for many different reasons

Smartcoin SMC is like that right now( at the time of this writing Smartcoin is trading at about 112 satoshi with only 24.5 million all time coins, and is one of the lowest priced coins, but I would look for that to change over time as things improve for smartcoin).
