It depends on if you care to play with your friends or not and you taste in games. If friends is your priority then just pick a console the majority of them play on and go from there. If your tastes take priority then I'd definitely take a look at which console supports what you like the best. My personal taste is RPG's and action adventure types games and the PS4 has most of them such as Monster Hunter World, Final Fantasy XV, Metal gear Solid 5, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, Pillars of eternity, Persona 5, The Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ni No Kuni 2, Nioh, and Dragons Dogma. But being as transparent as possible most of that list you can also get on Xbox 1 so you have to really want something specific like bloodborne or Persona 5 you know something along those lines that you can only get on PS4 to warrant choosing PS4 over Xbox 1. Either way you cant lose choosing between those two.

Console? The new xbox for sure is most powerful on paper

I still prefer PS4 pro though, much better option overall if you just want to enjoy a bunch of games

One of the most underrated consoles of all time is the sega dreamcast.  You don't hear much about it nowadays but it had a lot of great games.

If you are looking for the best consoles I will put my trust in Plays Station 4 Pro.

- The Good The PS4 Pro outputs a 4K- and HDR signal that's compatible with high-end TVs and promises better visuals and increased frame rates for certain games. The console includes a 1TB hard drive, and it works with all PS4 games, apps and accessories to date.
- The Bad Out of the gate, only a handful of titles offer dramatic improvements. In reality, most games that support Pro enhancements don't offer a drastic difference in quality when comparing standard and Pro games side-by-side. Specific information on game improvements can be shoddy. - The PS4 Pro does not play Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray discs.
The Bottom Line The PlayStation 4 Pro only shows noticeable improvements in a limited number of the games we were able to test, but that could change with titles coming in the months and years ahead.
