I am surprised no one has mentioned Pocketbits here. I have been using Pocketbits for a while and it has worked pretty well for me. I have used Zebpay and Koinex as well, but I have found Pocketbits to be the fastest by far. Generally they process KYC within an hour and Deposit and Withdrawals within a couple of hours. That's way less than the time taken by other exchanges. The support team is quick to respond and it's easy to reach them using the live support chat feature they have. They also support more coins than most of the other exchanges. Make sure you join their Telegram channel where you can get all the latest updates and support too, in case you decide to use their service.

Hi,
I'm an Indian and looking to set up an account for buying BTC and other altcoins.
What are the good ones and how much time does KYC take for those exchanges? Is AADHAAR and PAN enough for KYC?

Any suggestions and advice.

Hi,
In my opinion, I think decentralized exchanges are the future for the cryptocurrency trading.
The transaction goes peer to peer and the escrow is completely based on smart contracts, hence, there are a lower transaction fees. and most important, need of doing KYC and locking your ether while listing is removed.
Some of the Exchanges I know are findether.com which is working quite fine for buying and selling Ethereum.
All the other Indian exchanges are centralized and we all know several exchanges which have been hacked and people have lost there cryptos forever.

I think most popular is Koinex, because they have more cryptocurrencies. Also the prices to buy/sell are not different there as are in Zebpay and Unocoin.

I came to know a new exchange BITINDIA is coming up and they are going to have lots of coins. Currently they are asking people to vote which coins they want to people to get listed in their exchange in india.

Bitindia has John Mcafee as advisor/founder something like that.

If they turn out like they sound they will be huge.
More over there is coindelta exchange which is also very good with number of different currencies. You can buy OMG and QTUM there. My current favorites.

Zebay is still the most popular, however the cryptocurrencies sets are too poor. I'm waiting when they introduce other especially more known currencies like Monero or Ripple

In my opinion there's no best crypto exchange in India as all exchanges are new and mostly average compared to international ones. The best way to go about finding an exchange is focusing on the coin you want to purchase and finding a good rate + transaction fee combination for it (since moving coins between exchanges is easy). You can monitor the rates at the top exchanges using this page https://coinhero.in and start creating accounts at the top exchanges for the coins you are interested in (create accounts in more than one exchange).

right, agree with that, it is young market, exchanges and exchangers just gain respect nowadays.
as for me I tried exmo, cex, coinmama, and all of them are really pain in the a**. don't know why but they don't verify my account more than a months.
so, I bouth btc from a friend and use jaxx.io wallet for storing it. also, tried small exchangers and sometimes it's really better to use them as they use many rates for many exchanges usually. there are many exchange ratings, but I tried coinmonkey.io early january and rates were nice, I bought eth for my btc when btc started dropping. so, it's young exchanger as far as I know, they operate since autumn, but seems to be trustworthy. any else who used coinmonkey?

The best exchange in India would be Zebpay, Unocoin and CS. They have being for a while now in India and rest are new or some months old. Currently hearing a lot of complaint from users as their support takes time to reply or revert to their queries among all the exchanges in India. So it is quite painful and also few banks have started closing the bank account related to this exchanges.

Apart from Zebpay, Koinex, UnoCoin, there is also Coinome (by BillDesk/IndiaIdeas.com).
The part about Coinome which I like is that (currently) there are absolutely no charges for funding INR or withdrawal INR.
(Others charge upto 2%).
And you also get instant credit when you fund using your Bank's NetBanking.

Hope this helps!

Have only used Zebpay so far and yes pan and Aadhaar should be enough but zebpay has horrible prices which is wrong I think. There are also Koinex and Unocoin but I have never used them.

Hi

In India Zebpay & Unocoin wallets are used to buy/sell bitcoins.Pan & Aadhaar are enough for KYC,Verification time would be around 7-10 days. But Personally I feel Zebpay wallet is cheating customer by not increasing the value of bitcoin like it used to do earlier when there is hike in bitcoin value. Not Sure about Unocoin wallet
