For a riser rig, that board should support up to 5 cards.

okay  after discounts

 112.50 for the i5 6400t = ?  a  cheaper option works retail the  pentium g4400
   35.99 for a samsung m2 128gb ssd  =  no brainer
19.43 for a silverstone cooler ? cheaper option works the retail pentium g4400 has a cooler
   99.99 for a biostar z170                  =  easy choice
   46.80 for 2 4gb ram sticks               = neutral
107.99 for 1 750 watts evga psu.        = good choice
600.00 for 4 visiontek rx 470's          =  this is the best price I have seen for rx 470's  they may suck

976  4 card setup.

if you go for a pentium g4400  it is 60 bucks with a cooler

vs 132 for the better cooler and cpu.

so  the build would be 904

you will only get rebate one one its one per house hold

It's easy to get around that. Luckily I have willing neighbors who allow me to ship to them, pays to be military!

i have two neighbors i can trust who don't care I'll even give them a few bucks for doing if they would take it, but they won't take it . and agree rebates shouldn't be limited one per house hold or one per person the company is not losing anything. they offer it . or don't offer it .

Get a better cooler. Sleeve bearing stuff doesn't last.

There's a REASON the only HD 7750 card I have left from my Litecoin GPU mining days that has it's original fan is a Sapphire (though it is the OLDEST of the whole collection) - all of the others had sleeve bearing fans that DIED in the first year or less, the Sapphire has a ball bearing fan and 3+ years after I bought it it's STILL running.

To be fair, all but one of the other CARDS are still running - with a motly assortment of left-over 60mm ball bearing fans left over from outdated CPU coolers from machines I've retired twist-tied to the heatsinks....

I've had good luck with ethOS using SilentArmy and optiminer so I'd get this for $39:
http://gpushack.com/collections/gpushack/products/ethos-16gb-ssd

That said you can get a 256GB SSD for under $70 and throw your favorite OS and miner on it.

It's probably good for 600-800 sol/s on ZEC depending on the miner and VBIOS tweaks.

Cheers,

- zed

why you need 16Gb of ram ?

in fact you don't 8 gb are more than enough, there are however some coin that are memory hungry and you need to increase the page quite a bit in case of 8gb
I actually never needed it in my farm, most of my rigs have 4g, so I wondered why 16gigs of RAM

470 4gb GPUs, you can find some for like $160 now.

But that is still slower than the RX 480. If you want the density  of the mining rig, it is better to use 480.

Almost the same speed but much cheaper. It doesn't make sense buying an 480 or buying 8gb instead of 4.

8GB only makes sense for mining if it is the faster RAM vs. 4GB - a lot of 4GB cards has 1750Mhs ram where 8GB usually has 2000 Mhs.

Y'all don't want my builds though as they're not "mining specific optimised".

For hard drives, go HGST or a good SSD - HGST has had a ton better reliability overall in recent years LONGterm vs WD or Seagate.

at this point i would wait for vega from amd, big chip amd 580 and fury pro, they will have better hash, due to better bandwidth and bus speed, and lower consumption

it's due this december or early 2017

That could also mean price drop in current RX 4xx cards Grin Currently without a doubt 470 is overall best card for mining. Price difference between 470 and it's only competitor in mining 480 is not worth extra performance you get with 480

yeah but the 480 might have a better resale value, so it's not that out of the question to buy it, the same can be said about 4gb model

i many gamers will like them they prefer 8gb

power color 480 for 179 these are not cheap cards, i own the one fan one i got last week for 189, don't trust reviews, so i have found out in the past.

mode the bios your set from here
https://anorak.tech/

I don't post my other stuff because it was either old parts i all ready had that would cost to much to buy now or i got deals you can't get right now or may never again and i don't  mine for ROI so what I have won't help in that department.

best mobo, cpu, hhd?

I'm still using AsRcok H81 pro btc. It's a bit older board but still great in my opinion. There are some some new intel board but i'm not informed about their quality. For CPU gor for g1820 or g 1840 whatever you can find. Hdd just buy cheapest used one it will be fine
