I found BTCGuild to give the most, and I've used all the major ones for a few days. Can't go wrong with 0% fee and pretty high block finds.

I tried on the -44% day ,which could not have helped so I might give it a try again.

There is way too much variation going on with BTCGuild something very fishy is going on. The odds of that happening by chance has to be well under 1 in 1000 by now (I started a whole thread about how I think they are manipulating the luck).

I highly recommend using a PPS type pool. You are given a guaranteed amount of BTC per amount of work that you do. Luck is 0% every day. That way the owner can't cheat because it would make the payout buffer go negative and people would leave when they stopped getting paid. The pool is responsible for all variation.

Those pools, with the exception of Slush (to some extent), are vulnerable to pool hopping, which will ultimately result in lower payouts to you if you do not pool hop. I would recomment BitP.it (https://pool.bitp.it/) or maybe one of the PPLNS pools listed on the wiki's "Comparison of mining pools" page, or you could try one of the geometric scoring pools -- I think the only ones which use the geometric score calculation are Eclipse Mining Consortium and Continuum (the website of which seems to be down at the moment)

Pools with lower hash rates will pay out less often, but for larger amounts. Over time your reward will average out to be more or less the same, not accounting for a pool's luck which, of course, cannot be known in advance

For some info on the concept of pool hopping, if you're not familiar with it: http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=9928.0;all

I can't comment on what the "best" pool out there may be, because I know it all depends on circumstance and what kind of payout consistency you're looking for. I've tried a few pools with high hash contributions (and fast payouts) and those with lower numbers. Lately I've been sticking with Bitpit (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bit-pit-lp-esmpps-8-decimal-payout-ssl-api-0-fee-almost-0-stales-12181). Their payouts are extremely consistent (as far as amount goes), but they are one of the slower pools currently out there (we generally get around 60-120 Gh/s on a given day). They are also 0% fee, but I normally tack on 1% as a donation. I currently get around 0.33BTC/day with my two 5830's, which I hear is pretty standard for my setup and the current difficulty (correct me if I'm wrong!). I'd encourage you to give it a try (add a little hashing power to the pool). I'd be curious to know what you think about it!

So I have tried a few different pools including bitcoinpool(small), Btcguild(big), and slushes pool(large). I have found that slushes is very consistent compared to the other two. Especially compared to bitcoin pool even if the group was lucky I would get maybe the same amount on slush. Btc guild just seems low compared to slushes. Might have been a unlucky day ,but I usually get maybe 30% more on slush. Today is pretty bad on slush lots of long blocks. Who do you think has the best pooled mining?
