Spoetnik, you are a shit brain in other matters, but I happen to agree with this 100%.  Anyone getting into these ICOs is just asking to get spanked, and I'm talking about the version of spanking that in some countries is considered capital punishment.  These schemes are pure pump-and-dump and nothing more.  It blows my mind that people haven't grasped this yet.  This is like in the 1990s when complete morons like myself were jumping in and out of the latest/hottest biotech and internet mutual funds--but it's worse!  These shitcoins don't represent companies, earnings, debt, or anything else.  They are just electronic ledger entries that people throw their money at, hoping that some other sucker will want to buy at a higher price.  Nothing more.

So, reputable ones?  Bitcoin.  And you can hear the crickets a-chirping after that one.

You are partially correct, but not correct in saying bitcoin is the ONLY reputable coin... it's a dinosaur not capable of handing the scalability needed for modern businesses and small transactions.  The coin in the top 5 that was built with transaction speed and low fees/power consumption in mind.. NEM.

In reality no coin is really worth more or less than someone is willing to pay for it. There are hundreds of dead shitcoins that are technically more advanced than bitcoin's technology.. all about supply and demand, and the underlying technology behind the blockchain.

The majority of ICOs are tokens based on ETH which is the real pump and dump scam among them.  95% will end up nowhere as the devs take the proceeds and run.

The forum's altcoin announcement board is the best source I can only think of. It is your duty (as an investor) to exercise due diligence when investing on ICO's.

Hi All,

Newbie here. Using some play money I've purchased some BTC and a few other altcoins and some ICOs. Intention is to hold long term. What are the best sources/sites to get info on upcoming reputable cryptocurrency ICOs and crowdsales? I've done some googling and thread searching and haven't found anything definitive.

Yes, yes, I always try to do some DD first. Caveat emptor, etc.

Thanks,

https://www.ico-list.com/
This site will be helpful for you, I read other comments and no one has mentioned it, this site gives you the ongoing and upcoming ICOs information, like if they use escrow or if there are social campaigns, in addition to all involved links of any ICO, every day they add new ICO, you can follow it to know them.

+1 certainly not in the crypto world.

If FIAT financial laws were applied properly to Crypto i have always said i would reconsider my stance on ICO's

That aspect of this is not a point i can simply turn a blind eye to ..for profits.

@The Pharmacist
The supporters of Altcoins were driven out of the scene by greedy little profiteers long ago..
The only people left here are kidiots & investards hoping to make a buck.
Scroll up and read the moronic "Let's get rich" comments  Roll Eyes
And ..there is not many of them.. crypto has shrunk in size not expanded.

They been told ..a lot !
They are not listening.

I am saying all that is here is a small handful of greedy morons.
Morons because they ACT like it !
Behavior that is bad for crypto ? They don't care as long as it puts some change in their pocket.
And that is not how a crypto supporter acts.

Actions speak louder than words and there is a reason the whole world with billions of people gove 0 fucks about all this.. and they all heard of it too but were turned off & disgusted.

@The Pharmacist
You summed it up nicely.
And i think all these guys know too.. deep down they know it's a pathetic joke.

I have given a dozen major reasons why ICO's are bad.. ALL of them.
And i myself only need one.
Which is why i have never supported any of them ever nor will i.

They are BY DESIGN scammy in how they FUNCTION.
It's not "opinion" ..it's simply how THEY WORK !
So their greedy supporters don't get to make excuses for them, it won't work.

Anyone notice almost a year ago there was 6,000 ANN topics ?
Notice how in the last year more & more coins (90% ICO's) still got made ?
What does that tell you all ? Anything ?

Everyday there is a new coin being talked about as the "great" one ...for profits $$$
Bitcoin + FIAT profits..
And what number are they ?
Coin #6221 then coin #6222 then coin #6223 ...
And yet we just hear Waves this Incent that Rimbit this and Lisk that..

That is blatantly obvious the world who may look at this retarded crap.
This one.. ahhhhh this ONE is the real deal .. THIS TIME !
Then later it's StartCoin Stellar Ripple and Ethereum and Steemit..
THIS TIME !

7,000 ANN topics later with "ICO" coin #6224 released whith kajillions of dollars in "the ICO"  Roll Eyes

I think bitcointalk is the answers, because almost all of ICOs makes official announcement on there and if they can be trusted usualy they make updating and you can get opinion and suggesting from other users too.

This thread gives a list of ICOs, scam ICOs, and new coins. It's not terribly active but can be a useful warning of scams, which helps identify the good ICOs from the bad ones. Picking a profitable ICO is more difficult than picking a reputable ICO though.
