Maybe a little off topic, but any of you guys have an opportunity to see new Quentin Tarantino's movie?

We're wondering at OneHash is it worth to go to this movie with the whole team. And maybe with one of other movie fanatics or OneHash fans  Wink

Good stuff mate, thank you for sharing, I have already bookmarked it and will watch this one during my free time.
I love sports gambling, and honestly, I have never watch any of the movies you shared, that gives me the excitement now.
One may learn from the gambling experiences which a movie contain after watching that movie but one can understand it without watching any movie. It might be giving you extreme excitement while getting experience from the gamblers while watching movies. I personally suggest to have a control over you and to have better strategies practicing after practices will strengthen your abilities to win most games.

I notice all gambling movies existing are very old, most of them dating back from 70'-80' and even though they are pretty good I would like to see something new because times have changed and so did the industry of sports betting. I kept looking for recent movies but could find anything interesting related to sports betting, so maybe someone can share a recent movie related to this topic.

Kudos to the two posters above me, I came to this thread thinking about Jannat (I actually do NOT watch Bollywood movies at all but there were a few times I was held to a film or two by means of hostake taking heh). There are a few other movies that come to mind but I can't recall their titles.

They're basically two categories for me: the first deals with some kind of idiot savant who makes all kinds of calculations in their mind (sort of like a human Moneyball software), and the latter dealing with some kind of fixing. We in Asia are probably familiar with the latter, it pervades sports here like you wouldn't know!

Well then, guys. Maybe it's time for list of some Bollywood movies as well?

Your gambling market and betting standards look both really interesting and quite controversial Wink

If you have another Asian movies of this genre that are worth watching, then put them here.

Share your cultural heritage here. We would love to get to know it.

If you go Bollywood, then you cannot ignore Hong Kong and Japan, and god knows there's a few movies there about sports betting. There's a lot of intricacy too, gambling forbidden in South Asia and Southeast in large parts, whereas it's actually very cultural in the Far East.

Betting markets and standards are definitely controversial, and that's just form what I know as an amateur gambler. The way it works underground would put a lot of the Western movies to shame, I'd say.

But I guess mainstream wise, there haven't been great movies from Asia - non sports gambling movies aside, I actually can't even recall any good ones apart from the one mentioned above (Hindi language Bollywood).

There is one about illegal boxing/fighting that was rather popular a few years back: Fatal Contact. Apart from the fact that almost every scene had people betting on them though, or that big bookies were fixing matches, it wasn't actually about gambling.

Maybe we should create separate thread with poll in which we would ask you the same question?

It would give us utter, measerble results once and for all.

Or do you think that the better idea is to actually create a poll, but with gambling movies as a whole?

I watched a lot of movies who are related to the gambling. I remember they have movie who have a group who have a leader and they cheat playing gambling they have techniques to win to gambling or to the casino they play. But they caught by the owner and they did not do their next plan and they migrate to other place and they do new plan so for the next they will not caught again.
I thing a real life experience is something you will never find in sports gambling movies except the once that are based on real life stories. A movie can just show you what has happened and a real life participation in sports gambling enables you to experience what is happening. 21 is my favorite movie and I love the way the birth of strategies take place at the table.

Just like the others, I haven't watched any of those movies on your list. However, one title caught my attention though:Two for the Money. I don't know. The title seems catchy for me and I'm hoping that so is the movie itself. Already listed as a "must watch".  Cheesy

-snip-
I'm guessing that these are the links of the movies. Cool. Might as well visit it one of these days.

There are lot more movies related to gambling than the list, one the I like was the Maverick (1994). Its mostly about the poker tournament, though it concentrate much about the mishaps and the father and son story, the bluffing on the table is very fun to watch. What happen on movies though seem to happen just in movies.

Shaolin Soccer movie is one of the good movie that I watched that they are using the drug products to win in their game for parts of money so this type of movies will be more interesting to watch at the end.
I watched this movie but I don't think that it is a sports betting movie.

Lol yeah . i think the guy coment that movie because the movie is about soccer and soccer is also a sport but then again we are talking about sports gambling here , not sports alone  but wait , the guy above states that there was a scene were they used a drug to be able to win . they are fighting for the money but they are also fighting for the fame  . idk is this can be consider as a valid answer  . hmmm Huh
I think this is completely okay. He might not be well versed about the sports gambling but he can learn and mocking is just wastage of time and can discourage someone while a wise man will always encourage you. Speaking about the sports gambling movies, there are couple of them I have watched. Bookies and Two for the money. Both of these are great movies full of drama and suspense plus handsome stacks of money.

Well there are many good sports betting platform nowadays but I still prefer to.bet online in a casino online betting platform. It is because sports betting.has time constraint in waiting for the scheduled match event that would not fit in the likes of me.to which I am more preferred to.bet and get the results as much as possible.

If I will consider betting other than online casino betting platfom then I will chose the esports betting.

A good list of movie Buddy, only 1 movie I've watched on your list. That is Silver linings playbook, actually the core of the film is not about gambling, but about the drama romance of two crazy couple anyway.
I have a film about sports betting but a local film in my country, tells about soccer in my country, and soccer mafia and from that movie I know about "fixing score", shocked there are many settings game "fix score" in soccergame of my country

The movie Back To The Future part 2 can also be seen as a sports gambling move, Marty buy a book of the Complete Sports Statistics 1950-2000 in 2015, however, the 1955's Biff ends up with the book, making him the luckiest man in the world!
The TV series Travelers, also use sports gambling and even lottery to generate money, but that's a very small part of the series, they also mine Ethereum in one episode.

Intacto is a good spanish movie. Though it's more about stealing luck from people coming into the casino, it's still an amazing movie to watch.
Similar is "the cooler" Las vegas comedy movie where there's a cooler in casino, when people starts earning more, the presence of the cooler would be enough to make them lose.
