Honesty and sincerity is the best way, in my opinion, to build trust.

All good points, just lookig for ways to make a little btc on the side of a normal job. Will have to get buying and selling crap on here then, i guess 
Takes years to build up trust, even then you could be playing the long con (not saying you are) eg. build up trust to the point where you're escrowing large amounts of btc then steal the funds.
I wouldn't necessarily say years, but it takes time. Some people can build it faster than others, though. I'd just concentrate on being a familiar face around the forums as that will gain peoples confidence alongside doing various trades. IF you don't want to spend btc then you might have trouble building that. You don't have to buy crap you don't need, but you could sell it

One day I'd like to offer Escrow services but maybe lending BTC is another way to do it, although there is obviously risk involved in this :/

Why do you want to offer escrow services? This always rings alarm bells because why are you so eager to hold onto large sums of others money? There is no fast track way to gaining trust so you have to do it the long way and build it other time. Do lots of various trades and eventually you will become so trustworthy people will trust you without escrow, then maybe you can start offering escrow yourself.
Avoid vod.
Be pleasant and do your best to listen to feedback, do your best to help the people you are involved with.
You have to earn it by trading.
Earn it. Be a transparent and trustworthy forum member and it will come.
only problem is that I don't want to buy crap I don't need to get trust. I just sold my S1s on ebay, and now that they're all gone... hmmm

Just go about doing trades. But do trades that you need to do, not only for trust or people will look down on you.
