Howbeit, software wallets can serve against natural disasters. Storing your private keys on Google cloud or on Google keep which can be accessed once you log onto your email from anywhere is the best measure to protecting your cryptocurrency against natural disaster.
Keeping the private keys on cloud storage like google is not really safe because its not that much harder to be hacked and simple mistakes for phishing attack on your device could be resulted in total loss of all your savings.Private keys have to be stored offline.

you can make your own crypto steel!
I made my own for less than €20.

I bought some offcut stainless steel 6mm thick enough to make one
for myself and one for my brother. > https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6mm-Thick-Stainless-Steel-Plate-off-Cut-Grade-316-185mm-X-120mm-/254465075612?nav=SEARCH

Tools used:
an angle grinder to cut the steel in half (just because i was making 2)
a ruler and metal scribe to create 24 spaces
a drill and bit to make 2 holes to screw it to a secret location
a letter punch set (with numbers) > https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/9-27-36pc-Numbers-Alphabet-Letter-Punch-Set-Stamp-Metal-Die-Tool-Kit-UK-Fast-PP-/223428526856?nav=SEARCH
and a hammer

Time used:
Approximately 1 hour

I don't think we need to buy expensive crypto steel. The world is very small nowadays, we can get the earthquake or cyclone's news at least about 3-4 days ago! Which is enough to take action to keep safe your assets. You can move your coins to exchange for a while, you can send a message your phrase code to your friends separately or you can send 24 mail with 24 different seed codes to your random friend's mail or write your seed on steel. And there are many ways to keep it safe. No need to buy a Crypto steel.

Which earthquake would you know 3-4 days in advance? This would be a force beyond nature. I don't think you need these steel wallets. But we're thinking the same thing for different reasons.
I think just buy a hardware wallets and back up its seed key and if you can, you may want to memorize that keys.

My hard wallets are in a fire proof safe which is bolted down to my basement floor which is confined of metal.
Even if our home is torn to shreds my a natural disaster I think my safe will be the loan survivor of the mess

It's actually funny, reading the post on protective measure for cryptocurrency against natural disaster. I personally won't go through the tedious step of protecting my cryptocurrency wallet when there's a natural disaster. I believe the persons that would be eager to protect their cryptocurrency would be those with substantial value of tokens

When a natural disaster strikes (such as an earthquake or a hurricane) you'll need to protect your most valuable assets. While most people preserve physical cash for events like these, crypto proves to be a better solution (as it's intangible). The most common form of securing one's crypto funds is a paper wallet. However, this method is not resistant against dust, water, or even fire. Even hardware wallets are susceptible to harsh environmental conditions over time.

I know there's something called "CryptoSteel" which is a seed wallet that's fireproof, waterproof, and even shockproof. The only downside is the price which is quite expensive. Which is why, I'm looking for the best way to protect my crypto against a natural disaster that won't break the bank.

Any recommendations or suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

Protecting Cryptocurrencies always involves risks. But I don't think this CryptoSteel thing is very reliable.

1) Because we cannot produce this wallet ourselves, the private key can always be accessed by someone from outside. (Any person in the production process)

2) This wallet is designed not to disappear physically. So in this process, this wallet may fall into the hands of someone else. It may not be easy to hide.

3) International travels can be risky to carry with you. It can be noticed on Xray devices. Thus, there may be problems in passing through customs.

In my country there is a company that focuses on storage of private keys. Look at the website: https://www.bunkeroid.com/ - they send you metal plate with metal letters and you can make your backup more durable against fire and so on.  Smiley
This is a stupid idea, you will have to give up your recovery seed for them to write on the metal for you right? This means your funds aren't safe, private keys and recovery seed are meant no to share with any person

Once a man, twice a child!
I think "death" should also comprise natural disaster too. Well, the OP might have a reason for either a deliberate omission of it or not but we should always realize that death is more inevitable than any other disaster. Going forward my method to safeguard my cryptos against any earthquake or whatever would be to store my Private Key/Passphrase online. In my email to be specific. But I would have to split the secret letters into two and his them in two different emails addresses. That way a hacker will have to break my two different email addresses before s/he can get a hold of the complete access to my largesse.

Amazon has lot of heat and water proof cases which only costs us few bucks compared to the crypto steel which is nearly about a hundred buck but if someone having few thousands worth of bitcoin or cryptos then I wouldn't have any second opinion other than buying that cryptosteel.

Compare rates on different exchanges & swap.
How about creating small numbers/alphabets  out of tiny ductile wires that are heat resistant? You could create & bind them together with another wire according to your private keys combination. . You could even replicate this and give your love ones each just incase one/few get lost. Everyone could wear them on his/her body or hide them somewhere safe. These is one of the cheapest ways I can think of.

Another thing people should consider is massive EMP attack that could wipe out much of the existing computer data held by the masses.  I guess people should be researching more on how to protect themselves from such attacks.

Well you do not need any hardware wallet to keep your digital assets save, just use any online wallet with private key and you can access that anytime, anywhere as long as you are alive so no need to purchase any expensive physical wallets.

You don't have to buy cryptosteel you made mentioned, why can't you just grab a stainless steel and write your recovery seed on it, safe from fire, water and bad environments too

kind like engraver and write down there the seed. lol its going to be safe from disaster but it might not be safe from the people who understands its a seed. we all know its always BTC that people kept in their wallets so once they see 12 words or 24 words written or carved in a stainless steel, its what it is so put it somewhere safe that no one sees it. i wouldn't go that far though. just print multiple paper wallets and put it in an airtight plastic bottle.

I'm looking for free spin.
The basic price of CryptoSteel is around $79 according to their website which is too expensive to hide your assets inside of this CryptoSteel.

For me, If I have many assets that I want to protect for natural disaster I will make a backup of them and put them all or archive them in winrar with memorize password make just make sure the password is 12 character or more at least it takes so many years before they can bruteforce the password.
In my own rar backup I use the combination of my children's name with my birthday(in number) then I archive it again with different password that I mostly use to login with my laptop.

To make sure my assets and files inside the rar file is protected and it takes so many years or decades before they can get the files inside the rar file.

then I uploaded it to my Google drive as an hide or private don't make it public so that you are the only one who have access on this drive.

This my way on protecting them to any disaster so that once it happen you can just login your email to gmail and get that file and extract them with your known password.
This is recommended if you already memorize the password with your own because to me I still memorize the password of these archived files all important files are there including my seeds of my assets..

Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!
I just found out about cryptosteel, a type of protective capsule made from solid metal structure parts.

but rationally I have to think of quick actions first because natural disasters may not always involve the three elements of dust, water, fire all at once, what often happens is the flood disaster and my anticipation is more on simple steps like preparing a private key on laminated paper and I will hold it as well as possible.

Exactly. Actually we don't need that so called crypto steel why dont you just keep your altcoins and bitcoins online if you dont want it to be damage when natural disaster comes? Or you can keep it on the bank's safe much better.

the best way is possible if you trust a company that provides cloud services then you can use it. but it might be vulnerable if your cloud account can be accessed by others. but so far I only put information about the data that is on the flashdisk and books.
