This site seems like a great place for people like me who like to bet on literally everything.  Betting on sports is fun, but really, how many people can say that they are addicted to gambling enough to have bet on the date of the first hurricane warning?

That is what makes it amusing though if you can find a bet people want to join in on, it doesn't really matter what it is so you have the freedom to make weird ones like that ha-ha.

I will like to know if the bitcoin betting on your website works like binary betting we see in currencies.

Not exactly. Although we have the same idea, the payout structure is different. See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parimutuel_betting

and from our FAQ:

1. How is the payout calculated for parimutuel bets?
If you are correct, your payout is (your bet) + [(your weighted bet) / (total weighted volume on your side) * (total volume to be split among the winners)]. "Weighted" means (time-multiplier * bet amount) and doesn't apply to 'Unweighted' bets. Payouts are also deducted 3% which is shared between the host and BetMoose.

We have a second payout method known as "fixed odds" bets. The bets that are using the traditional, "fixed odds" payout scheme are clearly marked different than our normal, parimutuel style. Here's an example: https://www.betmoose.com/faq#betting1

We've been behind the curtains for the last little while but there is a big decision coming up that should have some far-reaching implications. Now would be a good time to put in your prediction:

___________Grexit, Greek bailout referendum, 2015
Options: Yes | No

It's definitely going to be an interesting fight
A lot of love for Pacquiao while mayweather seems to be a deal in comparison then again there can only be one winner
Guess any Mayweather bettors would have a good edge here.

Going to be a good one for sure. Looks like that bet closed but there are two others still open.

That feature is actually on our list. It's kind of a low priority as that feature becomes more and more meaningless as the bets get larger (you'll likely approach the 24hr period anyway + the bettors that lost might not want to bother logging in to verify...)

We have a similar feature on the shorter list - 'Fast Payout' bets where our admins will either resolve themselves or process the payout quickly for easy-to-resolve bets to eliminate the 24hr hold. That will speed things up.

Thanks and glad you like it! Remember we have a 20% revenue share for 1yr for any of your fiat-friends that want to try out the bitcoin world! Smiley

All future feedback always welcome.

Can I make a suggestion?  There could be a feature where a bet result can be certified after the host determines the outcome. Once a result has been certified by all bettors, the payments can be automatically released, instead of everyone having to wait out the 24 hrs.

Just a suggestion. Great experience so far! Keep up the good work.  Smiley

I have posted all the NFL games for this weekend for anyone interested.

Awesome bets Mastergerund, just wondering - how did you decide those initial odd spreads?

Site update!

- Graphics Added (background) behind each category on the /bets page.
- Page "Views" counter added on all bet pages and your public hosted bets page. Please note; these views have only been counted from September 16th, so will be significantly understated (could be 0) for many bets created before that time.
- Market Depth added to FO bets along with 'Offered Volume' total on the main bet page.
- Stats fixed within Placed Bets/HoF sections for anyone who has been betting within FO bets. This also now includes the backed volume as part of your hosted volume level requirement.
- Options now accept "<" symbols.
- Front page banner and spacing modified, should be better now for those with smaller resolutions.
- Fixed filtering fixed-odds bets in your placed bets page
- HoF +/- column updating fixed - this was actually fixed last week.
- Some minor security issues patched up (thanks folks from CrowdCurity!)
- Other minor fixes and improvements

Hi moose, im struggling to lay a bet. Trying to lay 5:1 fixed, but don't understand your x box interface.  Cant find anything on the help.  Can you explain how to lay fixed odds?

We currently display decimal odds, so 5/1 is 6.00x. In the lay slip, you're setting the odds the backer will get, so if you offer 6.00x to the backer, that means your "lay odds" are 1.20x - if you lay 1 BTC and win, you'll get 1.2 back.

You can use the odds converter here: http://oddsconverter.co.uk

You'd be surprised how much easier decimals are than fractions, but we do plan to add a built in converter, sorry about the confusion!

Hope that helps!

Site update!

Thanks to everyone for their feedback.

- Sound added to chat notifications with a sound toggle
- Reputation system - now using cicles that add as you level up, with grey circles representing a new/level 0 host
- Time box fixed on the New Bet page
- Fixed using 'Tab' on your keyboard to move between the correct input boxes on the New Bet page
- Fixed the payout calculator on the My Offers page
- Changed the Fixed odds backer slips to show 'Try something lower' if you enter an amount that cannot be matched

- Added a view filter to your public hosted bets page
- Fixed the https 'some content cannot be delivered securely' issue.
- Other misc optimizations, fixes, adjustments

I'm happy to announce a major update to BetMoose today: fixed-odds betting and live betting! Have a look at the demo:
https://www.betmoose.com/bet/demo-fixed-odds-bet-805

In addition, lots of other fixes and improvements, here's the changelog as always:

- Introduction of fixed-odds bet types. There's too much to write here about this new betting mode, but something that may not be obvious on the site is that you have a new page within your Profile->Placed Bets called 'My Offers' where you can easily manage all of your lay bets. Also note some new FAQ items and old ones changed to reflect this core site update.
- Real-time updating within all bet pages. This means you will see bet data updated live from within that page. This feature is still experimental. If in doubt, please refresh.
- Related to the above, the buttons for placing bets now animate nicely to show you all the states of placing your bet!
- New site banner as well as some changes to the home page copy.
- Making errors on the new bet page now saves all of your work (except the picture upload)
- Minor formatting adjustments for profile and placed bet stats, changed resolved bets on profile to 'paid out wagers' and used similar text for consistency in the placed bet page as well.
- Admins now have the ability to de-list bets, this means if you created an obvious duplicate we will likely just delist it instead of cancelling it. This way, any matched bets are still good.
- New email service and template, please let us know if there are any issues with your email notifications or their appearance!
- 'Rising' sort changed to 'Hot'. This is purely a cosmetic change, no functionality has been altered.
HoF rankings adjusted, again, sorry. I think you'll appreciate the new ranking system. Also added a little box at the top right of the Hall explaining how it's calculated if you're curious about the change.
- Modified the Terms to include the Privacy Policy of us using your email to send important info and notifications.
- Fixed getting notifications for when anonymous users place something on your hosted and followed bets.
- Fixed the favicon of our site on Internet Explorer and some mobile configurations
- Reversed page titles so if you have lots of tabs open it'll display the page title first
- Dozens of other tweaks, fixes, improvements, and additions
