Nothing good comes out of doing any tasks you get on telegram, either through groups or private messages, it's all about getting scammed believe me, I don't bother listening to anybody or joining anything on telegram again, enough is enough for that smart, ignore every PM and also avoid weird groups that add you without your permission

Telegram is flooded with scammers. The best way to deal with scammers is to ignore and report. When you report telegram will tag the user or channel as a scam and then delete the account.

From my experience you should avoid airdrops anyway. Airdrops either don't make much profit anymore or they are used to collect personal data (social media profiles, email addresses, photos of id cards etc), which are then sold to spammers and other criminals individuals on Darkweb. The times when airdrops were worthwhile are long gone.

If the airdrop will require something then we should avoid that since we can't really trust them and all of them will end up scam, its so dangerous for us if we provide our personal details since they can recycle that and use for another crime. So we should step out and don't be curious about that schemes.

<…> because Myetherwallet can be manipulated please ignore the message. <…>
Telegram is a scammer cesspool, to the point that it seems to be the preferential social media platform to perform one to one scam attempts.

Now I haven’t used MEW for quite some time, so I’m not up-to-date on it’s ins and outs, but the quoted expression in the OP is then not developed. I think that the expression requires further explanation as to how MEW can be manipulated, and exactly how that applies in the context of the telegram scam attempt described in the OP.

so far the "manipulation" has been abusing the fact that MEW is a web wallet and accessing it is by clicking on a link and that link could be a malicious one. there are also always many vulnerabilities in codes that run in a browser specially when they are using JavaScript.

as for telegram, it is just another social media and like others it is also used by scammers and is viable for them because there are lots of newbies who still fall for it. otherwise same thing could be said for Twitter, Reddit, Youtube or even this forum. although some like this forum have more moderation and reports so remove scammers faster than others.

Thanks for posting it, report the telegram sender right away and the website. I started to feel irritated when I hear new defi project these days, because they don't even offer something new just a copy of existing project. So a message like this does not get my attention, I hope it is the same for everyone. You can forward any scam/phishing message to this account on telegram @notoscam.

Thank you for posting and sharing this but this isn't new on telegram even though this is different style.

That's why I didn't entertain who's sending a private message on Telegram, for the clarification of the announcement you can go and check to the official group if there is an airdrop or giveaways but I don't usually join this kind of event.

You can report this to the telegram, there are two ways of reporting on telegram. First, click the 3 dots above and find the report button. Second is go to the official telegram website and find this Telegram Support, enumerate and describe your problem or issue. After several days, you will see the user you have reported marked a "SCAM" next to its username.

Telegram is a scammer cesspool? eemmm you are right about that, I recently also got a lot of personal messages when I entered the Defi group that I followed. Everyone who sent the message was scammers trying to frame me. Not only when Defi was more popular, long before that there were many scammers hanging around on the telegram. Telegram users today are also increasing. so that more targets can be tricked by scammers. Must be more vigilant.

Regarding the manipulable MEW, it remains unclear what is manipulated. Manipulation is done to MEW users by providing a phishing link so that the MEW private key will be obtained by the scammer very easily.

@OP, nice catch. Even I had been following up with these shit tokens' airdrops, tokens that were never heard of and just pop up. After watching the site and their non-sensible content over their site that you archived, I believe anyone with some common knowledge will be able to understand that they are going to scam. Don't put MEW into this as they can't manipulate MEW, but yeah they can duplicate the exact MEW website and put in front of the user and once the user puts his/her private key or json key, then they can definitely use their dirty hands to play out and fetch all the tokens that the victim had in their address.

There are fake Defi airdrop message shared on telegram lately which people are require to minimum of 0.5ETH in wallet to sign in a message contract using a code through only Myetherwallet.

Should be a common spam message to those experienced ones. A usual activity in Telegram that even newbies won't get trick.

It's just on another form but still no difference to those airdrops and giveaway related messages from way back before.

Scammers won't stop. Telegram can't really stop all this mess as the platform was heavily populated with scammers and fraudsters. On a positive note, these accounts are nuked within just a period of days as long as it was reported. Just report the involved account OP and check if that account will be nuked within few days.

That means to get the airdrop we have to sign message with 0.5 Eth holding wallet address. Ha ha. Lol. Why I need to hold atleast 0.5 eth to receive the airdrop. Ok I consider it as eligible that people need to hold the amount. But why again people have to sign message. 😀 Just take a screenshot of more than 0.5 eth holders and sent the airdrop to them. They are just a group of scammers. Just block/report them and avoid.

If you're aware of this kind of airdrop that mean it been a long time since this scenario exists and this is the pitfall that Vitalik advised crypto enthusiast to watch out for before joining any Defi project or airdrop.
@OP, Thank you for sharing this cause this will save some newbies.

It is better to avoid Telegram channels related to cryptocurrency.

Telegram is one of the best place to be to get update about cryptocurrency movement and trends. Channels like cointelegraph, coin desk channel, other new and old project.

If you are in one of them then there is a high chance your ID automatically getting addded to span channels related to airdrop or signals.

You can disable that for you telegram account if that fear you much. Go to settings ==> privacy and security ==> groups. ==> select my contact.
With this, no one can add you to telegram except for your contact friends. You can also check my thread for latest for common Telegram scam till date

If you are in one of them then there is a high chance your ID automatically getting addded to span channels related to airdrop or signals.

Also occasionally you would recieve chat request from scammers asking for help to transfer Bitcoin from exchanges.

Be very vigilant and cautious if you are part of telegram channels that are for cryptocurrency.
