I guess OP will have no choice but to undergo KYC to activate his account. What's seems wrong here is the 2fa which OP mentioned is the 2fa that he said was correct and didn't work. At least they have a standard to lock accounts with failed 2fa access, which could protect other users. Grin

Yes I agree to most of the comments here KYC is needed because of the regulatory purpose .
But if OP is saying the truth then this seems to be a force KYC.
OP stated that he have put up the correct 2FA code but still got his account locked because the system detected a wrong 2FA?
It is true that we have to do the KYC in order to continue on using exchanges but we also have to be careful on who we should trust about our personal information.

KYC is a common requirement when the account got locked due to failed log in attempts. This is the Exchanges' way of proving that the real owner is the one who trying to access the account. This is part of their security precaution.

Think of it, if it's not you who tried to log in and failed many times using your account, and the exchange gave access without asking KYC. What do you think will happen? Most likely, your account will be hacked, funds will be lost, and you'll blame the exchange for not doing anything.

I'm not defending the exchange, but understanding the situation. This might happen in any platform, not only into this one that's why we need to be careful.

Most exchange now has KYC process, you must have checked their TOS first before depositing your money in their platform. Sometimes KYC procedure is done by exchane for regulatory purposes, since there are countries that restricts people from trading and getting involved with crypro. If the KYC procedure is an update or something new that they have implemented, they should've informed old users about it.

OP is informative for the traders to make aware people from any exchange which has such type of issue. I think everybody should know more about the exchange before depositing any fund. Sometimes people try to deposit panic for arbitrage trading without reading more information about the exchange. Most of the exchanges are asking for KYC now so obviously, always we should mind about KYC, without aware of the term and condition of any exchange trader can lose a huge amount. Thanks

It is a fact that nowadays almost all exchanges are asking for KYC as one of the requirement in order to use their services. So anyone who do not want to do KYC needs to find exchanges without KYC requirement. I myself not against KYC in exchange as I believe it is related to regulation by government to avoid money laundering or other bad things.
To OP, sorry if you have to lose your money because of the KYC thing but if it is a big amount of money then I think you should do the KYC.
Well, if what he says is right, then he is right. Exchangers ask for KYC but in this situation seems it was followed to inability to log in your account, as he claims, entered 2fa was correct and he could use account without KYC but exchanger lost it and now pushes him to upload KYC documents in order to regain access on his account. I don't think that's fair action.

They want to steal your identity out of useless reasons. STAY AWAY!

Stealing identity? Our identities are already exposed in the government. Already exposed in various crypto exchanges.

And going back to crypto, isn't it common that crypto exchanges now implements KYC.

I understand your frustration but why on earth you used this not popular exchange (well it's the first time I heard it).

If you believed that they are stealing identities, then move on and forget them and just accept whatever you loss there. If you want to continue your trading journey there or want to withdraw all your funds there, then proceed with KYC, simple as that. You can consider deleting your account afterwards.

But bottom line, since Im not familiar with the exchange, I will not used them.

That's the way it is, yes. Exchanges must know who their customers are based on (coming) regulations. This is similar to a bank account, you will hardly find a bank that allows an account opening without a passport, etc.
Exchanges that do not require KYC are therefore in my opionien alone due to that already suspect.

eventually governments will require all exchanges to make KYC to their customers and will not have exchanges that their owners are anonymous

I find this ANN thread in the community: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-exchange-kryptono-new-cross-blockchain-exchange-w-p2p-fiat-conversion-3586967

But it seems a dead thread already and by the post I read, there are a lot of complains against them. So I don't know how you find that exchange and do hope that you didn't deposit huge amount otherwise if will be a pain to get it back.

The other day I deposited on Kryptono and placed a trade, everything is working fine.
Yesterday as I about to log-in, I input my 2FA (correct and updated one) but it is not working. That didn't happen before but as I progress, I happen to find out that my account is LOCKED!

Follow this link below for reference :
https://kryptono.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020056291-7-What-if-I-have-my-account-locked-due-to-trying-to-input-2FA-so-many-times-
https://kryptono.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019911172-8-How-to-unlock-my-account-

What's great about this is that the update was made only 9 days ago and maybe that happens why my 2FA aren't working, because they want me to do KYC!

To recover my account, they want my identity, address, ID card, and etc. The worst idea ever is to lock your account because you miss on putting CORRECT 2FA code.

For those who want to trade on kryptono exchange, please be aware that this might also happen on you, again, I input the correct 2FA code but yet this happen. They want to steal your identity out of useless reasons. STAY AWAY!
