Just FYI, I'm still sceptical of whether I should escrow BFL chip group buys. :/ I would prefer that the chips were somewhat more confirmed before even starting this as given their track record, 100 days could easily turn into 1000 days... (and I'll need to hold the coins for god knows how long Shocked)

FYI, my gut never lies to me!!!

I think you are demonstrating good instincts here.  Your whole operation could be clouded during the course of such a transaction, and there seem to be plenty of opportunities to deal with parties who have demonstrated some legitimacy.  Or at least not the converse.

Also, it does seem that BFL has the ability to manipulate supposedly independent third parties.  Software developers, betting site operators, etc.  Why take the risk when it seems that there is good business elsewhere?  If I were doing any business associated with BFL, I would only do so under some sort of a multi-agent arrangement where two out of three (or whatever) agents needed to agree in order to actually move money.

Well said.  This could be very complicated and ugly if not outright bad

Here is the LOGIC:

1. BFL has 60,000 back orders from pre-order customers dating back 1 year.

2. If BFL had the money to fill those orders with enough chips, they would have put in an order large enough to start shipping in large quantities.

3. Their solution to not being able to purchase enough wafers to fill their obligations is to have more suckers including existing preorder customers PAY FOR IT.

4. If they have the ability to do what they claim (ship en masse 400 units/day) why haven't they already placed a huge FUCKTON order for these chips?...

BFL is a scam essentially because of this.

BFL has failed to deliver on every promise they have made.

+1 John is smart.

The chip sale has a stench around it that is emanating throughout this forum.

what a piece of s**t person/company

how are you going to announce chip sales when you havent even delivered 1% of your ridiculous 6,000+ order queue 8 MONTHS AFTER TAKING PEOPLES MONEY!

BFL is the the biggest disgrace to bitcoin, they are taking the entire mining community for a bunch of fools, and frankly dont give a flying f**k about the bitcoin community or the network. TRUE AMERICAN SLIME

+1 Insightful.

Ignoring OP and this thread. Nothing of value in this post just more failed promises.

Thanks for posting this, I saw two or three people with their phones filming while we gathered around Yifu and had been hoping it would be posted on YT.  Before he was handed the ice cream I recall had a few choice words about BFL as well, but he got into it here.

Having chips is nice.....BUT,who's doing the board design  Huh

I don't see BFL releasing specs anytime soon...............................
The big question is, can the open source guys:

A) figure out what is wrong with the design themselves?
B) Do what BFL fails to do and what keeps BFL from en masse shipping?

It seems strange at this point to start selling chips when the design(s) across several product lines aren't even really properly working or fully implemented yet.

It is gonna be a gamble at this point to buy into it. If the problems are good enough to keep BFL going into delay after delay, then what are open source manufacturers going to do better?

"Why should we trust you?
Feel free to check my OTC rating http://bitcoin-otc.com/viewratingdetail.php?nick=starsoccer
Please note tho that most of the negatives are fake
Also i have added a 10cent fee per chip which would discourage me from stealing"

Nothing here makes any sense!  Huh

Also, why do you need 50% upfront? JohnK could hold the first 50% in escrow until the buy is full, make payment for us and then collect the remaining 50% when BFL requires it. They way you have it structured it would still be wildly profitable for you to scam people out of what would be 50% of a possible almost $400.000!

That is a good point. I didnt think of that i will change it now
