To be fair, we never got any independent test on Giga's minirig. We rely completely on the BFL's statement. Heck we dont even know any details of the failure. Ofcourse if i'm pointing this out, ppl will think i'm wearing a tinfoil hat.

So you should take your own advice and dont make any conclusion then.

This is true, but why would BFL lie about it? It's not like the story would be any worse if one of the 72 FPGAs they sold him was faulty. No electronic component can be guaranteed fault-free.

I've been tearing apart and repairing computers and electronics for 15 years and I've never once fried anything due to static. I've tried intentionally to fry things with static, to no avail. My brother did fry his ethernet port on his laptop due to static, but that's not exactly a situation you'd expect to use a wrist band anyway.

IMO you have been lucky, or probably you are situated in a high humidity region. It's akin to not wearing seat belts and claiming one has been accident free.

I mean no offense to old ladies.  But THIS IS THE PERSON who BFL has doing quality control?!!?!?!?!?  That explains why GigaVPS mini-rig died in one freaking day LOL  --

WHERE is the Antistatic wrist band? Can't imagine that BFL chose to ignore basic safety measures.

But seriously.  How can you not question the talent\skill level of an 80 year old woman?  THIS is the person who is in charge of making sure your asic\fpga device is working.

BFL is looking worse by the day.

Wow, I don't know where to start with this one, since you clearly lack any understanding of how these rigs work.

First of all, this woman is testing FPGA boards. Since the vast majority of those boards worked just fine, I'd say she's done her job fairly successfully. Even entire QA teams fail to spot every single dud product.

Secondly, the issue with Giga's rig was with the PSU, which should have been tested by Thermaltake (who, by the way, do have an entire QA team).

Hereforth, we can deduce that BFL's QA tester has done her job better in this instance than Thermaltake's (presumably young male) QA tester.

To be fair, we never got any independent test on Giga's minirig. We rely completely on the BFL's statement. Heck we dont even know any details of the failure. Ofcourse if i'm pointing this out, ppl will think i'm wearing a tinfoil hat.

Mr. Benz, ualrightbro?

I know you're just trolling but why? Something set you off or u just high and/or bored?

btw; These new (modular) units feature high quality 105°C / 221℉ Japanese made solid state capacitors, a Full Bridge & LLC resonance and Interleaved PFC circuit design that ensures extreme stability and high efficiency, high current PCI-Express connectors, a 140mm fan that will operate 15 to 30 seconds after shutdown to prolong the life of the internal components, and an S.P.T. indicator that displays the Standby mode, the Power good signal, and the temperature of the unit.

Thats in reference to the PSU BFL has in the mini-rigs. It's actually quite the nice PSU.

And friggin raggin' on Ninja Queen? Mannn, that lady has pick and placed more components than we have hairs on our heads. ;p

What' she going to do with a GPU mining operation?

Possibly, though I don't think he'd lose much as most of that stuff has value outside of Bitcoin.

Cheers all, and take your meds. All of you.   Kiss

He will use the heat from the GPUs to warm dry his asshole, after he rinses it, after he poops himself once ASICs come out.
