I think this is old news not recent.
The leaked happened now although the data are coming from 2018, that's a fresh news and this is a serious news especially if you get verified with Binance at that time, and it would also affect clients confidence in the future.

I hope that all of this is just fake news and nothing more

Actually I do to, I am turning the smiley face into a frown face in the title, I also hope binance does not get sued, but the hacker does, but good luck catching him LOL you have 0% chance to get him, but some lawyer gonna wanna make some $lavery money dats for sure and binance will be the only one to target.

Note: hacker guy, if you see this comment, what you did was not cool. Your point was to extort money out of Binance and instead you just fucked over the general public. I get it you were trying to prove a point, but at what cost? why not just inform them in private and the people affected? or are you just a script kiddo who got the list from a real hacker?

Your only act to redeem yourself is to start hacking livestreams on twitch, youtubes, mixers and broadcast the message that fiat is a $cam and $lavery.

I am the father of the church or whatever you want to call it of bitcoin, if you can do that and say "I am sorry satoshi 3x" your sins will be washed away.

You are also not allowed to gamble with your bitcoin for 1 week as well, no nitrogen sports and no just dice, no swc either. -bitcoinjesusjr btw why don`t they KYC, could a minor not gamble?

What's the use of your "note"? The "hacker guy" doesn't care about you. Plus the hacker actually exposed a weakness in Binance's security. I don't praise the theft of KYC documents, but it's also Binance fault.

There are still no proofs, guys

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgH-Kd9Tsew bro half of them are holding a sign that says Binance
Wow, this is a major problem. $10k is clearly nothing, as Binance even managed the situation pretty well when the exchange lost $40 million. But all of those identities being revealed - yeah, this is potential Facebook-like lawsuit or even something more serious. I never agree to KYC online specifically because I don't feel comfortable about people being able to see me and my passport, and this case only strengthens my position. Showing an ID briefly to some authorities is one thing, but uploading photos is really different. Funny how the CEO said not to fall into FUD, even though it's a very big deal and Binance did not even apologize yet.

It is over 10,000 user account information not $10,000 USD lost.

Yah, It will be a 5 billion $ fine at least.

It hasn't been quite proven that those images were literally from Binance though. I don't know what's their real strategy in maintaining their customer's data, but they also stated that those images do not contain those watermarks that was imprinted from their system. With this large of an exchange, it is not surprising that one may make a hoax about any certain breach into customer's info.

My reference: https://www.theblockcrypto.com/2019/08/07/binance-responds-to-an-alleged-kyc-breach-on-telegram-saying-there-are-inconsistencies-involved/

A hoax with 1000`s of random people`s information leaked holding there id that looks just like them and sign that says binance with there sign up date ..... are you for real?

What is this some mass scale attack on binance by the greatest photo shopper of all time, shit this guy should of made Obama`s birth cert, and Who has 1000`s of friends of each race? that were all willing to take selfies for his hoax?

Get real dood, they leaked peoples info and can`t man up. Why the fuck would they offer a 25 btc reward for information when it is a fucking hoax, come on my guy, I know common sense is hard, that is why we have fucking fiat, but follow the clues and use some common sense.

That hacker was giving you a deal at 3.5 million, probably should of took the offer  Grin
even if binance pays the hacker, there's no guarantee the allegedly hacked data won't be leaked
has any of the victim came forward, filed a complaint and confirmed (data crosschecked) by binance?

The one guy has his print exposed, he can now be pinned for murder he didn't even do.
fingerprints? Shocked do you really need to submit fingerprints to complete binance KYC?

yah exchanges now make you piss on your computer and phone and upload it to the cloud to use their exchange, and to withdraw you need to give them your ancestry dna blood test and at minimum 3 selfies holding your favorite 3 foods, and some bath water, they would also like to know your kids imaginary friends name for withdraws over 1 btc.

but seriously, I dunno it`s in one of the pictures on the doods ID above that was leaked.

Yes, it's a fact, but it's also can be considered FUD because as far as I know with my current understanding of the situation, it's a past *alleged* hack. I think it's just that the photos are just being leaked recently. If my memory serves me right, this is the one in 2018 whereas Binance claimed that the hacks were targeted to their users(not the exchange itself). I could be wrong of course.

I'm going to chime back in here after a few reading if I learn something new.

This news is already in every corner:

Binance Investigating ‘KYC Leak FUD’ as User Selfies Allegedly Exposed

“Don't fall into the ‘KYC leak’ FUD. We are investigating, will update shortly,” he wrote.

It is a very sad situation. There are many scammers who can use this sensitive data to commit crimes.

He calls it fud, but it`s not fud man, fud = fear, uncertainty and doubt, it is certain, no doubt at all that people literally lost there privacy due to this company`s negligence, SO IT IS NOT FUD IT IS FACT, now 1000`s of people have many peoples personal id`s, they will use it for fraud on other exchanges now and the police will think they did it. They are now human mixers.

The worst part of it all is they did not inform the people who`s information was leaked, for they will be the targets now.

THOSE ARE REAL KYC`s YOU THINK 1000`s of fucking random people are out to fud binance? look at all the pictures!

It is not fucking fud, it is fact.

The one guy has his print exposed, he can now be pinned for murder he didn't even do.

Stay safe out there, the hacked might have actually happened but be careful not to be fooled by some fraudster that will take advantage of the situation.

For those who want to read Binance's official response https://www.binance.com/en/blog/365766157488967680/Statement-on-False-KYC-Leak

When you think of it, is this one of the reason why they pushed for Binance DEX?

Can't they invest enough in security, I don't understand

Of course they do. You just can't know how much security is enough until it actually gets tested, which in this case lead to a breach of their system. NOW you know it wasn't enough, which they have put a lot of resources into to fix, so currently they are more secure than before, but only until the next breach.

Binance isn't the type of exchange to save cost on security. They as the ONLY large exchange have quite a solid support desk, which can't be said about Coinbase and other exchanges of that magnitude. This costs a lot of money to keep running, so definitely not the type of exchange to save cost elsewhere.

I think this is old news not recent.

It is new news to all the peoples kyc`s that were leaked, due to binance`s great PR team not saying anything to anyone.
Should of gave the hacker the 300 btc, would of saved your company a facebook 2.0 lawsuit that is coming from them.
https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/24/tech/facebook-ftc-settlement/index.html

It will cost binance around 5 billion.

Oh so they knew a few months ago a bunch of KYC`s got hacked and did not say anything to their customers?

10/10 PR

"OLD NEWS"

They don't seem to be hacked "again". Based on Binance's recent article, it was a hack back last year.

"On initial review of the images made public, they all appear to be dated from February of 2018, at which time Binance had contracted a third-party vendor for KYC verification in order to handle the high volume of requests at that time."
